West Africa is a macro-region with many countries, including some that are protagonists in Africa because of their economic or social importance but are also protagonists in Italy, as they are very numerous and have created minority communities very present in the territory. These include the Nigerian, Senegalese, Beninese, Ghanaian and many others. Each of these countries has its own unique cultures, languages, and traditions, so I will create a fil rouge that can include the macro-area.The fil rouge will be to investigate their reason to start studying in Italy, in Perugia and their reason to stay after finishing the university (investigate their plans possibility for the West Africa students to start a career, business, to fund an association or similar in Italy after the university).
Based on this perspective, I will explore the dynamics that led the citizens of West Africa present in Perugia to choose it for their study and life path. The sample of students may include both ongoing students and already graduated students studying in the Universities of Perugia.
After having analyzed the testimonies of the interviewed, their stories and projects, the analysis will be focused on the space of interculturality in Perugia to give to the reader a clearer perspective and to break the prejudice around this big community in Perugia.
