Äldres psykosociala behov är ett relativt outforskat område. Syftet med denna

kvalitativa uppsats är att undersöka de äldre omsorgstagarnas psykosociala behov samt

om biståndsbedömningen tillgodoser dessa. Detta vill vi göra med hjälp av empiriska

undersökningar utifrån två perspektiv, äldre omsorgstagare och biståndshandläggare. Det

empiriska materialet består av åtta individuella intervjuer varav fyra äldre omsorgstagare

och fyra biståndshandläggare. I det analyserade empiriska materialet har tidigare känd

forskning, psykosocial systemteori samt erkännandeteori använts.

Resultatet av undersökningen tyder på att det finns brister i att tillgodose de äldres

psykosociala behov. I studien framkommer det att gruppen äldre talar mycket om

betydelsen av social samvaro då negativ ensamhet är något som de upplever eller har

upplevt. Biståndshandläggarna är medvetna om ensamhetsproblematiken och vad den

kan leda till hos den äldre. Handläggarna uttrycker att de behöver samarbeta med andra

yrkesprofessioner som har i uppgift att arbeta med psykosociala behov hos de äldre.

Detta på grund av tidsbrist och i vissa fall kunskaps brist som biståndshandläggarna

säger sig ha angående de psykosociala behov och problem som upptäcks.

The psychosocial needs of the elderly are a relatively unresearched area. The purpose of

this qualitative essay is to investigate the elderly’s psychosocial needs including whether

they are covered by the assistance evaluation or not. This we try to achieve with the help

of an empirical study of two opposite viewpoints: the elderly and the assistance officer.

The empirical material consists of eight individual interviews whereof four are from the

elderly and the other four from the assistance officer. Previously known research and

the psychosocial system theory including the recognition theory has been used to

empirical analyse the material. The result of the study shows that there is a lack of

giving the right help for the psychosocial needs of the elderly. The elderly group points

out the problem of feeling lonely and the importance of social interactions which appear

as deficiency in the study. The assistance officer is aware of the loneliness problem and

what it can lead to. The assistance officer points out that they are in need for more

assistance for the psychosocial work with the elderly because of lack of time and in

some cases lack of knowledge.
