Abstract [en]

Recent literary studies aspiring to revitalize the research area of World Literature have included a research scope that emphasize the importance of understanding how literature travels across borders, for example; what are the (uneven) geopolitical and materialistic (center and peripheries) conditions for one literature to be translated into, and to circulate in another literary system? One strand of these studies focuses on investigating the role of cultural and literary mediators, both on an institutional as well as on an individual level. Most of the paradigmatic studies in this field up to now have not fostered a gender-conscious perspective. My paper will consider some of these questions while researching how Lusophone literature (of the last two decades) has migrated through translation into the Swedish book market. The aim is to map out and examine this literary migration, as well as to provide some thoughts on its theoretical framework through the lens of gender.
