: Vernacularization of French language in hip-hop music in Cameroon. A brief overview of the particularity of camfranglais. (English)
Abstract [fr]

Abstract [en]

The French language spoken in France is not exactly the same as the one spoken in the former French colonies in sub-Saharan Africa. This is because languages always assume the cultural attributes of the social environment in which they develop. The goal of this thesis is to study the processes by which singers of hip-hop in Cameroon adapt the standard French language to their needs with the goal of reaching and moving the maximum number of listeners. To do that, we studied one variety of vernacular French called Camfranglais, in nine musical extracts (hip-hop).
