Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: I Sverige ökar den åldrande befolkningen stadigt och det kommer krävas att vårdpersonalen har kompetens och utbildning som kan möta individuella behov inom den palliativa vården och vården i livets slutskede. Det kommer att krävas bra och tillfredställande kommunikation mellan anhöriga och vårdpersonal då familj/anhöriga är en stor resurs inom den palliativa vården och vård i livets slutskede.

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att beskriva anhörigas behov och erfarenheter av kommunikationen med vårdpersonalen i den palliativa vården.

Metod: En systematisk litteraturöversikt som i sin design inkluderade kvalitativa och kvantitativa studier. Artiklarna söktes i databasen PubMed. Detta resulterade i 15 stycken artiklar.

Resultat: Resultatet påvisade brister avseende fungerande kommunikation och information gentemot anhöriga till palliativa patienter.

Slutsats: Anhöriga i studiens artiklar upplever inte att vården uppfyller deras önskningar avseende kommunikation och information. Mer utbildning avseende kommunikation och information avseende palliativ vård även på allmänna avdelningar inom sjukvården skulle behövas.

Abstract [en]

Background: In Sweden, the aging population is steadily increasing, and it will be necessary for healthcare professionals to have competence and education that can meet individual needs in palliative care and care in the final stages of life. Good and satisfactory communication between relatives and healthcare professionals will be required as family / relatives are a major resource in palliative care and care in the final stages of life.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to describe the family's needs and experiences of communication with healthcare professionals in palliative care.

Method: A systematic literature study that included in its design qualitative, quantitative studies. The articles were searched in the PubMed. database. This resulted in 15 number of articles.

Result: The results showed deficiencies regarding effective communication and information towards relatives of palliative patients.

Conclusion: Relatives in the study articles do not feel that their care meets their wishes regarding communication and information. More training regarding communication and information regarding palliative care also in general departments in health care would be needed.
