Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to investigate whether professionals believe that sport can lead to integration for children and young people with a foreign background and what opportunities and barriers exist for this. We have used a qualitative method in the form of interviews with informants who work in parallel with sports and integration. The starting point of the study has been Diaz integration theory, which has inspired our interview guide and defined the study's view on the concept of integration. The results of the study show that sport can promote integration and that it is the relationships that the participants associate with each other that contribute to this. The result also indicates that social work with integration can be inspired by the sport's way of creating arenas where people can meet.
