Kvinnors kamp mot hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck : Women´s fight against honor-related violence and oppression: A qualitative study of four women´s experiences of counter power, liberation and redress (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aimed to investigate how four women, through countermeasures, left honor-related violence and oppression, what their liberation looked like and whether they experienced a sense of redemption. It was a qualitative study based on four autobiographies and a targeted content analysis as method and used theories as power, counter-power and shame. The results of the study included how the women in different ways demonstrated their counter-power towards the perpetrators and communities with degrading women´s views. Furthermore, all women liberated themselves, which was a process that was going on for a long time and could to a large extent be related to increased knowledge and their right of self-determination. The results of the establishment were linked to confirmation in some form, which could come from the community, other individuals or that they confirmed themselves. The study contributed to a deeper understanding of women´s experiences of honor-related violence and oppression.
