When the European Commission decided in 2006 on key competences for lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial abilities became one of these competencies. In the current curriculum reform adopted in 2011, Gy11, it says that teaching in high school should promote entrepreneurial abilities such as curiosity, creativity, increased self-confidence and an increased willingness to solve problems. Ung Företagsamhet (UF) is a problem-based teaching method used by schools all over the world. The purpose of UF is to help students learn how to start, run and winding up a company, as well as learn entrepreneurial skills.
I have chosen to do a qualitative study consisting of a total of six semi-structured interviews with students at a high school in Dalarna. I have chosen to do this way because I want to know how the students I interview perceive that their entrepreneurial abilities such as creativity, curiosity, self-confidence and problem-solving ability develop during an Entrepreneurship course and how UF as a teaching method influences the development of the abilities.
My aim with this study is to find out if UF can be a useful/adequate method for developing entrepreneurial abilities of pupils in Dalarna.
