With the aim to get an overview of the use of video in online courses in higher education in Sweden, a national survey was conducted in 2009. The response rate was 50 % and the result included 746 teachers and 852 courses/programmes. Teachers, who had participated in further education or were experienced distance teachers, used video to a greater extent. Certain types of video were more frequently used in language courses than in online learning in general.
