A comparison between Donald Trump and other Republicancandidates who have also lost the presidential election is drawn. The result of this investigationshows that WAR metaphors are unusually predominant in Trump’s speech. Conversely,SPORTS metaphors are the metaphorical group with the lowest occurrence. While SPORTmetaphors structure the elections as a game, WAR metaphors establish Trump’s position as aprotector, reflecting values related to Lakoff’s “strict father” model.
