The seseo is a phonetic phenomenon of the Spanish language prominent in someareas of Spain and Latin America. Although it is considered a correct way ofspeaking, it receives negatives attitudes in general. The purpose of this study is tofind out if one group of students of Spanish in Sweden can identify seseo andfurthermore analyze their attitudes towards seseo. The students listened to tworecordings of the same text, and at the same time answered questions using theLikert scale. The first text is without the variety seseo and the second with the varietyseseo. The technique used is the matched guise. The results indicate that the studentsrecognize seseo and, in general, show positive attitudes towards it. The informantshave even evaluated slightly more positively seseo than non seseo.
