Description [en]

A half-hour documentary about the life and work of acclaimed Australian film editor Jill Bilcock.

Abstract [en]

Jill Bilcock is one of the world’s leading film editors, yet to most people she remains relatively unknown.

Few filmmakers in Australia have left such an indelible impression on the nation's screen culture and filmmaking community as Jill. Over the past three decades, her intricate sculpting of stories and support of emerging filmmakers, have resulted in an astounding output of ‘evergreen’ films, cherished by people not only in Australia but across the world.

With unique access to Jill’s past and present, Jill Bilcock: The Art of Film Editing presents a rich and visual portrait of an artist that operates on many levels, and provides a rare a chance to appreciate and decode a central, yet largely misunderstood part of the filmmaking process.
