The goal of this thesis is to analyse the hybrid identity in the third space in RenanDemirkan’s novel Black Tea with Three Lumps of Sugar. The main character'sinsights and encounters with different people from Turkey and Germany form abasis of the thesis as she experiences discrimination, cultural shock and religiousupbringing. The thesis uses the concepts from transculturation, hybridity, and thethird space to investigate in what way the hybrid identity of the immigrants isdepicted.
