La manière dont les Ivoiriens utilisent la langue française, supprimant souvent les articles, déformant certains mots et expressions, y ajoutant parfois des bribes de phrases extraites des ethnies du pays, ou créant au besoin de nouveaux mots, attire forcément l'attention. Cette façon de s'exprimer en français que certains appellent « français ivoirien, » s'est beaucoup développée au cours de ces dernières décennies et est désormais présente dans tous les milieux sociaux ivoiriens. La réflexion sur ces variations linguistiques du français parlé en Côte d’Ivoire est donc motivée par notre préoccupation de regarder de plus près le français ivoirien dans les paroles de chansons afin de mieux cerner sa particularité. Le corpus composé de chansons écrites entre 1990 et 2022 nous a permis de récolter les mots et expressions que nous avons analysés.
The way Ivorians use the French language, omitting articles among other things, distorting certain words and expressions, sometimes adding snippets of sentences extracted from the ethnic groups of the country, or creating new words, if necessary, attracts attention. This way of expressing oneself which some call “Ivorian French”, has developed a lot in recent decades and is now present in all Ivorian social spheres. The reflection on these linguistic variations of the French spoken in Côte d'Ivoire is therefore motivated by our concern to take a closer look at Ivorian French in song lyrics in order to better understand its particularity. The corpus of songs written between 1990 and 2022 has allowed us to collect the words and expressions we have analysed.
