Toward a Greener Industry : The Potential for Heat Recovery from Industrial Annealing Furnaces (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The current global situation has intensified the interest in energy-efficient solutions within the industry, aiming to reduce costs, increase self-sufficiency, and be more environmentally friendly. In this study, the waste heat from three industrial annealing furnaces was analyzed to assess its potential for heat recovery. A quantitative analysis and calculations were conducted, which demonstrated that the waste heat has a potential energy of approximately 633 MWh per year. Most of this energy, around 431 MWh, can be utilized in the facility's radiators. However, other applications for the waste heat should be explored, as the industry in question typically utilizes heat recovery from large refrigeration compressors to meet a substantial portion of the heating demand in the radiator circuit. These refrigeration compressors were not in operation during the time this study was conducted.
