A qualitative study on attractiveness within the IT industry (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The skills shortage that prevails within the IT industry makes it difficult for organizations to attract the skills that are sought after. To find out what is considered attractive and how organizations can work with this study will, based on aim of the study, examine which factors are considered attractive according to the professional group of system and software developers and how organizations and the HR function work with the concept of attractiveness. Based on the empirical phenomenology, how the world and the connection between a specific phenomenon is experienced by the individual, eight qualitative interviews were conducted to be able to answer the aim of the study. The result revealed five themes that contained attractive factors according to system and software developers, which are headwork and development opportunities, hybrid and flexible work, organizational management and culture, salary and the workplace. The result also shows that organizations and the HR function work with attractiveness through organizational culture, marketing the organization and its image via various events, individually tailored solutions for employees as well as social media and LinkedIn to attract potential employees.
