This article presents a study with the aim of interpreting and visualizing the pedagogical experiences through the use of meta-phors in a non-formal educational setting. The study employed case study methodology that generated data through observations,interviews, and informal discussions, following the activities of a non-profit Colombian organization that uses metaphors as apedagogical tool. The article examines with support in metaphor theory and narrative theory the use and function of metaphors inthe organization’s activities and the impact they have on peoples’ lives. The findings demonstrate that metaphors fill a strategicalfunction within the various activities of the organization, including educational resocialization processes, the use of stories for re-flection, and in cultivation activities. In conclusion, the article identifies three fundamental pedagogical aspects of the metaphors’function in the non-formal educational environment: consciousness-raising, subjectification, and transformation.
