The aim of this study was to examine first-line managers’ perceptions of implementation of evidence-based practice within the Swedish social care services. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine first-line managers and were analyzed using a thematic analysis. The interpretive framework for the study was the PARIHS-model and its revised version i-PARIHS. The results of the study show that the managers perceive evidence-based practice (EBP) as something important, but that its implementation is often associated with challenges. Some of these challenges were said to be lack of resources, difficulty with doing follow-ups and the professionals' attitudes. The results further show that an open and supportive organization, preparatory work before the implementation process, and cooperation with different actors were perceived as important factors for a successful implementation. Another important factor was said to be the first-line managers and their ability to monitor the external environment and motivate the employees.
