Abstract [en]

This essay will study how a feature film can be used in the higher ages of the school. Many teachers consider that the subject plan in school is packed with many different parts to process, which lead to stress and, in worst case, a burnout for the teacher. The essays purpose is to see how you can combinate two subjects in order to give teachers more space for other planning. It will also make visible how one feature film could be used in the classroom and how you can work with it. The subjects that will be combined is new religious movements and ethics. Using a narrative analysis enables the story to be analyzed on a deeper level and thus comes closer to the films narrative.

Previous research indicates that the use of feature films in teaching can have a positive impact on students way of looking at things. In the study of religion, you can also see that many times religion and ethics are left completely separate and you do not work to combine these with each other. The essay gives an insight into how one could combine these subjects with each other and discuss ethics as well as religion and outlook on lifeside by side. The analysis reveals the ethics and outlook on life that are fruitful for discussion in the classroom. The feature film presents both opportunities and challenges, which means that the discussion has different dimensions.
