Abstract [en]

With the digital advancement and the progress of artificial intelligence (AI), many areas have been impacted. In the field of graphic design, this technological development has sparked a complex discussion about technology versus human creativity and efficiency. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate how graphic designers perceive the use of AI in the creative work process. This was examined through a qualitative study where the recruited respondents were graphic designers. The conclusion was that they do not use AI extensively because the AI tools are not sufficiently developed, which often hinders more than helps. However, a discussion arose regarding the ethical aspects of using AI. Overall, the study shows that AI already has the potential to facilitate work in certain areas, but there are still some obstacles to overcome before AI can be fully integrated into the work process.

Abstract [sv]

I samband med den digitala utvecklingen och framfarten av artificiell intelligens (AI) har många områden påverkats. Inom grafisk design har denna teknologiska utveckling skapat en komplex diskussion om teknik kontra mänsklig kreativitet och effektivitet. Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka hur grafiska designers ser på användningen av AI i den kreativa arbetsprocessen. Detta kommer att undersökas genom en kvalitativ studie där de rekryterade respondenterna är grafiska designers. Slutsatsen blev att de inte använder AI i någon större utsträckning på grund av att AI-verktygen inte är tillräckligt bra, vilket oftast stjälper mer än hjälper. Det uppstod dock en diskussion kring de etiska aspekterna med att använda AI. Sammantaget visar studien att AI redan nu har möjlighet att underlätta arbetet i vissa områden men det återstår att övervinna vissa hinder innan AI kan integreras fullt ut i arbetsprocessen
