By using a text analysis, the purpose of the study was to analyse the Left Party's opinions and arguments regarding parental leave within a feminist perspective. Despite the left Party’s self-identification there is a lack of research examining its politics through feminist lenses. This study addresses that gap by applying idealtypes for liberal feminism, socialist feminism, and radical feminism to further understand how the Left Party’s polices can be understood. By doing so the research contributes to the broader feminist scholarship and offers insight to the Left Party’s politics regarding parental leave. The study shows that the Left Party have a consistent alignment between all three feminist theories and their policies regarding parental leave. Among these three idealtypes, social feminisms best align with the Left Party. Liberal and Radical feminism only partially align.
