Correlation between road texture and noise in vehicles (English)
Abstract [sv]

I Sverige idag finns flera olika myndigheter som har ansvar för att olika typer avbuller inte blir alltför störande för omgivningen och som ger ut olika riktlinjer ochrekommendationer. För närvarande saknas riktlinjer för buller inutitransportmedel. Då det inte finns några tydliga krav på bullernivåer itransportmedel, så finns det heller inga riktiga standardmetoder för hurbullermätningar inuti fordon skall utföras. Syftet med detta examensarbete varatt ta fram samband mellan vägytans textur och buller i vägfordon samt geförslag på lämpliga undersökningsmetoder vid studier av hur buller som alstras ikontaktytan mellan däck och vägbana påverkar bullret inne i fordonet.Metoden delades i två etapper: en texturmätning på olika beläggningstyper ochen bullermätning med olika fordon på valda teststräckor.

Studien visade på stora svårigheter i utveckling av en lämplig metod som kundege användbara resultat. Vägytans textur har i viss grad inverkan på bullret somalstras i trafiken men för att hitta ett bra samband mellan vägytans textur ochbuller i vägfordon, måste andra felkällor minimeras. För att utveckla en förlitligmetod krävs fler undersökningar.

Abstract [en]

Today, there are several authorities in Sweden that have responsibilities toregulate noise emission levels to limits that are not too disruptive to theenvironment. Currently there are no guidelines or recommendations for interiornoise in vehicles. Since there are no clear requirements for noise levels invehicles, there is also no standard method to measure noise inside the vehicle.The aim of this thesis was to develop correlations between the road surfacetexture and noise levels in vehicles and suggest appropriate research methodswhen studying how noise generated in the contact area between tire and roadsurface affects the inside of the vehicle.

The study was divided into two phases: a measurement of road texture ondifferent coating types and a noise examination with different vehicles atselected test sections.

The study showed that the methods used did not work properly and gaveunreliable results. Road surface texture has to some degree influence on thenoise generated by the traffic but to find a good correlation between the roadsurface texture and noise inside vehicles, other sources of error have to beminimized.To develop a reliable method more investigations are needed.
