Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: I Sverige får 55 000 människor varje år ett cancerbesked som väcker oro och ångest hos de flesta. Beskedet om livmoderhalscancer utsätter kvinnan för ett lidande. I samband med diagnosen fick kvinnorna en känsla av utsatt, sårbarhet och ofullständighet. Livmoderhalscancern påverkade även kvinnligheten och bidrog till att kvinnorna kände sig mindre sexuellt aktiva på grund av de kroppsliga förändringarna.

Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva kvinnors upplevelse av behov i form av stöd och information från diagnos till avslutad behandling vid livmoderhalscancer i vetenskaplig litteratur.

Metod: Studien genomfördes som en litteraturöversikt som inkluderade 17 vetenskapliga artiklar, varav 13 kvalitativa, tre kvantitativa och en med dess båda ansatser. Sökning av artiklarna gjordes i databaserna PubMed, Cinahl och Web of Science samt genom en manuell sökning.

Resultat: Studiens resultat visade att kvinnorna som drabbats av livmoderhalscancer var i stort behov av emotionellt och sexuellt stöd. Personer som gav det främsta stödet för kvinnorna var familj, vänner, cancerpatienter och sjuksköterskor. Kvinnorna hade bland annat behov av att få information om hur deras sexualitet påverkades av livmoderhalscancern samt om behandlingens komplikationer och biverkningar.

Slutsats: Sjuksköterskan skall arbeta utifrån en helhetssyn, vilket innebär att se hela människan. Då livmoderhalscancern kan påverka kvinnan fysiskt, psykiskt, socialt, sexuellt och existentiellt så är stöd och information viktiga delar i sjukdomsprocessen. Sjuksköterskan skall bedöma kvinnornas individuella behov och våga samtala om dessa.

Abstract [en]

Background: Every year 55,000 people receive a cancer diagnosis in Sweden, which in most cases resulted in feelings of anxiety and anguish. A cervical cancer diagnosis subjects women to suffering. Alongside the diagnosis women often felt vulnerable, exposed and incomplete. The diagnosis also affected the feeling of femininity and contributed to feeling less sexually active due to physical chances to the body.

Aim: The aim of the study was to describe women's experience of the needs in terms of support and information from diagnosis to end of treatment in cervical cancer in the scientific literature.

Methods: The study was conducted as a literature review that included 17 scientific articles, of which were 13 qualitative, three quantitative and one covering both approaches. Search Articles made in PubMed, Cinahl and Web of Science. A manual search was also conducted.

Results: The result showed that women affected by cervical cancer were in great need of emotional and sexual aid. Persons who gave the chiefly support according to the women were family, friends, cancer patients and nurses. The women had the need to obtain information about their sexuality affected by cervical cancer and for disease complications and side effects.

Conclusion: The nurse will work in a holistic, which involves the whole person. Since cervical cancer can affect a woman physically, psychologically, socially, sexuality and existentially, support and information important components in the disease process. The nurse must assess women's individual needs and dare to talk about them.
