Syfte: Att i vetenskaplig litteratur undersöka sjuksköterskans roll i omvårdnaden av ungdomar med anorexia nervosa.

Metod: Litteraturöversikt. Vetenskapliga artiklar söktes via databaserna PubMed, CINAHL och PsycINFO. 21 artiklar uppfyllde inklusionskriterierna och kvalitetsgranskades. Slutligen kvarstod 10 artiklar som studiens resultat baserades på.

Resultat: Resultatet presenterades i fyra huvudkategorier som visade att sjuksköterskans roll handlade om kontroll och övervakning av patienter, att skapa en bra relation till patienter och föräldrar samt bidra till en vårdande miljö. Resultatet belyste även de svårigheter som sjuksköterskans roll innebär i vårdandet av dessa patienter

Slutsats: Sjuksköterskans roll i omvårdnaden av ungdomar med anorexia nervosa är mycket komplex och det finns en brist på kunskap hos många av de sjuksköterskor som vårdar dessa patienter. Det behövs mer forskning inom området för att utforska och undersöka sjuksköterskans roll i omvårdnaden av ungdomar med anorexia nervosa, då patienternas upplevelse av omvårdnaden påverkar hans eller hennes förmåga att återhämta sig.

Purpose: To explore the nurse’s role, in the care of adolescents with anorexia nervosa, from a scientific literature perspective.

Method: A literature study. Scientific articles collected from databases such as PubMed, CINAHL and PsycINFO was examined. 21 articles met the inclusion criteria and was quality audited. Finally 10 articles remained which the results of the study was based on.

Results: The result is presented in four main categories, showing that the nursing role is concerned with surveillance and control of the patients, contributing to a good nurse-patient, nurse-parent relationship and creating a therapeutic environment. The result also exposes some of the difficulties regarding the nursing role when it comes to caring for these type of patients.

Conclusion: The nurse’s role, in the care of adolescents with anorexia nervosa, is very complex. Nurses often lack the knowledge and capability to establish an effective caring relation with patients suffering from anorexia nervosa. Additional research is needed, to further explore and examine the nurse’s role in caring for adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa, as the patients experience of the care affect his or her ability to recover.
