The purpose of this thesis is to examine the research field regarding feature films as a resource in the Swedish school. The main focus is on the education concerning life issues and ethics, a big and sometimes hard field to teach. Three questions were created to grasp the field of research and find a result. The questions regarded how feature films is associated with religious education, what advantages and disadvantages feature film could have in a teaching context, and exactly what can feature films give students that other teaching methods can't.
The thesis concludes that feature films can be a good resource in a teaching context thanks to the feature films ability to emotionally affect the viewer, if the resource is used properly. The survey also reveals a need for more research regarding feature films in the field of teaching religious studies as a way to close the gaps in the field and as a way to help teachers use feature films better in their work.
