L’articolo è incentrato sull’opera Viaggio settentrionale, una relazione di viaggio del prete ravennate Francesco Negri (1623-1698), pubblicata postuma nel 1700. Nella prima parte, dopo un breve paragrafo iniziale sulla visione del nord e i viaggiatori italiani in Scandinavia fino al Seicento, si cerca di ricostruire – sulla base delle notizie ricavabili dall’opera e con l’ausilio di altre fonti – l’itinerario di Negri. Un altro paragrafo è dedicato alla genesi dell’opera e alle sue diverse edizioni.

Nella seconda parte si mette in evidenza l’interesse di Negri, fra le altre cose, per le lingue scandinave in particolare e per i fatti linguistici più in generale: un interesse testimoniato dalle numerose osservazioni linguistiche disseminate nell’opera. Seguono un glossario di tutti gli “scandinavismi” (un’etichetta che include anche i lapponismi e i fennicismi, oltre agli svedesismi e ai norvegesismi) presenti nel Viaggio e un indice per categorie semantiche.

This paper focuses on the travel account Viaggio settentrionale, written by Francesco Negri (1623-1698), a priest from Ravenna, and published posthumously in 1700. In the first part, after a brief initial paragraph about the vision of the north and Italian travellers in Scandinavia until the 17^th century, Negri’s itinerary is reconstructed on the basis of the information given in the work and with the aid of other sources. Another paragraph is devoted to the work’s genesis and its various editions.

In the second part the focus is on Negri’s interest, among others, for Scandinavian languages in particular and linguistic facts more in general: an interest proved by the numerous linguistic remarks scattered throughout his work. A glossary with all the “scandinavisms” (this term is used to refer not only to Swedish and Norwegian but also to Lappish and Finnish words and expressions) of the Viaggio and a semantic index follow.
