    Abstract [en]

    The paper presents a case study conducted at the Swedish Road Administration (the SRA) focussing on the RDS-TMC service, a type of e-service. The implementation of the RDS-TMC service is based on two conceptual standards: the ALERT-C and Location Code standards. The main purpose of the case study has been to understand the functionality (role) of these standards by investigating how the SRA has implemented and used the standards behind the RDS-TMC service in order to provide the service.

    Abstract [en]

    In order to maintain market position, one of the critical issues facing companies is how they can improve their commitment management. In this paper, the concept of commitment management is used to understand how suppliers and customers create mutual commitments in business agreements, and how these commitments are fulfilled. In a number of empirical case studies, commitment management problems have been the direct consequence of deficiencies in the infrastructural support. One example of such lacking infrastructural support are IT systems intended to support this commitment management process. This is of particular interest in a context of commitments created in parallel business transactions that compete for the same delivery capacity. The aim of the paper is to describe, analyse and propose solutions to some of these problems. This paper proposes a necessary extension to a framework for business interaction between suppliers and customers. This extension is based on business action theory, workpractice theory and ideas from yield management.

    Abstract [en]

    Information management on the Internet is a growing phenomenon. One way for companies and organizations to get information on the internet is through websites. For content management and webpage development, you can use the content management system. Such systems simplify information management on the website's various web pages. There are a wealth of CMS and the CMS support different features.

    This study is conducted as a case study in which the case being studied are criteria for choosing CMS. Data has been collected through surveys and document studies. Criteria’s have been identified and prioritized using the MoSCoW prioritization method by editors and developers working with CMS. Priority criteria have been compiled and a selection of CMS tools has been evaluated against the criteria’s.

    Based on the collected data from questionnaires, a priority scheme was drawn up. It is clear that some criteria are more important than others for editors and developers. The document study also showed that the selection of CMS evaluated met the majority of criteria.

    Abstract [en]

    To record the variation of perceptions of midwifery faculty in terms of the possibilities and challenges related to the completion of their first online master's level programme in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Somaliland. The informants included in this phenomenongraphical focus group study were those well-educated professional women and men who completed the master's program. The informant perceived that this first online master's level programme provided tools for independent use of the Internet and independent searching for evidence-based information, enhanced professional development, was challenge-driven and evoked curiosity, challenged professional development, enhanced personal development and challenged context-bound career paths. Online education makes it possible for well-educated professional women to continue higher education. It furthermore increased the informants' confidence in their use of Internet, software and databases and in the use of evidence in both their teaching and their clinical practice. Programmes such as the one described in this paper could counter the difficulties ensuring best practice by having a critical mass of midwives who will be able to continually gather contemporary midwifery evidence and use it to ensure best practice. An increase of online education is suggested in South-central Somalia and in similar settings globally.

    Automation in the testing industry is becoming increasingly relevant, considering manual testing of software has a lot of weaknesses. This study therefore describes the advantages and disadvantages of using automated GUI tests and analyzes these based on the categories, cost, quality and time.

    In order to answer the purpose and question for this study, five interviews have been conducted with an IT consulting company where testers, test leaders, managers and sales representatives have participated in the study. An extensive literature study has also been conducted to see what pros and cons of using automated GUI tests in previous research. This study shows that it is an advantage to use automated GUI testing in management but a disadvantage to use it early in a development project. It is also very clear that all the advantages and disadvantages move around three factors, such as the time, quality and cost that this study has been confined to. It also turns out that programming skills are required to enable an activity to use automated GUI testing. Proposals for further research are to further define and compare the advantages and disadvantages of using automated GUI tests in development projects and in management projects and then compare them to each other.

    Många projekt misslyckas och en av anledningarna är dålig styrning av projektet i allmänhet och inom IT branschen i synnerhet. Baserad på kritik av de traditionella metoderna under de senaste åren, så har det uppkommit flera lättrörliga metoder som kallas Agila metoder. Scrum är den mest kända Agila metoden som används idag. Metoden lovar goda resultat, men i en artikel ur tidningen Computer Sweden (feb 2009) står det ”siffror visar att nio av tio Scrumprojekt misslyckas”. Artikeln triggade vårt intresse av att ta reda på vilka problem specifika för Scrum som många har kritiserat och valde därför att rikta in vår studie mot detta.

    Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka om lokala IT-företag i Borlänge, Headlight, Sogeti ochstatliga nätkapacitetleverantören Trafikverket ICT lider av det allmänna problem som de andra Scrumanvändarna upplever i samband med användningen av metoden. Denna uppsats har fokus på fyra problemområden: bristfällig dokumentation, sämre effektivitet i arbetsprocessen, sämre effektivitet i arbetsprocessen i stora projekt samt bristande stöd för utvärdering. För vår studie har litteraturstudier och intervjuer genomförts. Intervjuserier gjordes på elva personer hos våra fallföretag. Målgruppen för våra intervjuer är Product Owner (PO) ScrumMaster (SM) och utvecklare. Vi kan efter genomförd studie dra slutsatsen att de allmänna upplevda problem som de andra Scrumanvändaren upplever har vi även kunnat identifiera hos våra fallföretag. Resultaten har bekräftats med insamlade data och vår teoretiska ram. I diskussionen presenterar vi rekommendationer för att undvik relaterade problem med Scrum.

    Hur kan man flippa klassrum – några exempel på "blended learning" från olika kurser på campus och distans2015Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet var att beskriva och jämföra hur vi arbetar med blended learning/flipped classroom (FC) i fyra olika kurser (campus och/eller distans) vid Högskolan Dalarna, där målet var att få syn på den egna praktiken, dela erfarenheter och inspirera varandra. Inventering av och diskussioner om hur vi arbetar med blended learning/FC och varför. De tre kurserna Forskningsmetodikkurs i informatik (campus), kurs i informatik om webbsidor (campus) och Datateknikkurs i programmering (distans) ges i princip enligt "klassiskt" FC, dvs. med inspelad föreläsning följt av diskussion vid efterföljande seminarium/motsvarande (med viss variation). I den fjärde kursen, naturvetenskap i lärarutbildningen (campus/distans), blandas inspelade och streamade föreläsningar, och laborationer och seminarier genomförs både på campus och distans (gäller både campus- och distanskurser). Vi arbetar både på liknande sätt men även olika beroende av "ämneskultur", ämnenas olika karaktär och olika kursers karaktär, men vi har ungefär samma mål: att försöka få bättre förberedda och mer aktiva studenter, dvs. försöka att gynna djupinlärning. Men möjligheterna till mer genomgripande förändringar i arbetssätt beror också av hur "öppen" ämneskulturen är för detta. En gemensam slutsats är att det är viktigt att fundera över hur man kan använda tekniken i pedagogikens tjänst för att möjliggöra/iscensätta FC. Vi upplever allihop att FC är en möjlighet att göra något på ett nytt och förhoppningsvis bättre sätt. Vi är också överens om betydelsen av att få igång studenterna och att få dem att samarbeta - kruxet är hur man kan åstadkomma detta. Nya arbetssätt ska inte medföra att studenterna sitter och tittar på när vi arbetar, om än vi gör det på ett annat sätt än vid t.ex. traditionella föreläsningar, för då är vi tillbaka i den "envägskommunikation" man vill komma bort från FC. Vi har också fått upp ögonen för att olika ämnen/kurser har olika förutsättningar/utmaningar vilket lett till att vi använder delvis olika strategier och metoder. En skillnad gentemot litteraturens beskrivningar av FC är att vi alla även använder detta i våra distanskurser, vilket ger ytterligare en dimension vad gäller utmaningar, både pedagogiskt och tekniskt, jämfört med att "flippa" på campus. Det har varit inspirerande och utvecklande att ventilera hur vi resonerar om och genomför våra olika versioner av FC, och samtalen har även medfört att vi haft möjlighet att reflektera över den egna praktiken och att spegla den i de andras praktiker, vilket både inspirerat och gett praktiska tips.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study a case study was conducted at the Transport Agency. The government agency is seeking better alternatives to its current ways of keeping track of important dates stated in legal documents. The agency wants to explore the possibility for an IT-solution for keeping track on those dates. In the case study change analysis was conducted on the vehicle type approval process. Qualitative interviews were conducted with a section manager, vehicle type and component approvers, and with a system administrator and a system manager at the Transport Agency in Borlänge. The study describes an information environment in an organization in which date-controlled conditions apply and challenges with such an environment.The study also provides a proposal for designing an IT-solution for such an environment.

    The result that emerged showed that the information environment in terms of the legal documents and the institutions’ (EU and UNECE) websites where they are distributed is challenging for keeping track on dates. The challenges of the websites are that they are limited and complicated in terms of information search. The challenges with the legal documents are that date-controlled conditions apply. In other words, the dates themselves determine which dates and what applies and not. The legal documents are also many, retroactive, refer to each other and contain regulations for different kinds of areas, which makes difficult to find the relevant dates. The design proposal that emerged was made based on the existing IT environment at the Transport Agency. It was proposed that important key concepts are identified, categorized and realized in a database with searchability on the most important common concepts as denominators, and that it the information conforms with E-message. The developed database was based on date, date type, vehicle category, legal document, minor version and other info. A web interface was created in ASP.NET and C # for access to the database, with the message that a webbbased IT-solution should be considered.

    Abstract [en]

    This study aims to investigate how large organizations can work with information management by examining an organization's existing information management, and investigate possible future proposals to information management. Furthermore, the study aims to investigate how an organization can establish a clear direction, collaboration, management and responsibilities and roles regarding information management.

    This study is qualitative, where data collection occurs through document studies and interviews. The study is conducted by an abductive research approach and the study is a normative case study as the study's goal is to provide guidance and propose measures to the case that the collaboration partner has asked me to study. The case in this study is a typical instance, because the result will be representative of more than the study's collaboration partner, such as other large organizations with similar cases concerning information management.

    To collect theory to the study I conducted literature reviews on topics that are relevant to the purpose of the study: Information management, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and its architecture, as well as Business Intelligence Competency Center.

    This study contributes with practical knowledge, because the study provides answers to practical problems the collaboration partner has expressed within the non-operated information management, and this study contributes with suggestions for future information management. The suggestions involve a centralized Data Warehouse and the development of a function that handles information management, and disseminate the governance of information management throughout the organization.

    Abstract [en]

    Cloud computing involves the use of computer resources that are available through a network, usually the Internet and it is an area that has grown rapidly in recent years. More and more companies move entire or part of their operations to the cloud.Sogeti in Borlänge needs to move their development environments to a cloud service as operating and maintaining of these are costly and time-consuming. As a Microsoft Partner, Sogeti wants to use Microsoft´s services for cloud computing, Windows Azure, for this purpose. Migration to the cloud is a new area for Sogeti and they do not have any descriptions of how this process works.Our mission was to develop an approach for the migration of an IT-solution to the cloud. Part of the mission included the identifying of cloud computing, its components, benefits and drawbacks, which lead to us acquiring basic knowledge of the subject.To develop an approach to migration, we performed several migrations of virtual machines to Windows Azure, and based on these migrations, literature studies and interviews we drew conclusions that resulted in an overall approach for migration to the cloud.The results have shown that it is difficult to make a general but detailed description of an approach to migration, as the scenario looks different depending on what to migrate and what type of cloud service is used. However, based on our experiences from our migrations, along with literature, documents and interviews we have lifted our knowledge to a general level. From this knowledge, we have compiled a general approach with greater focus on the preparatory activities that an organization should implement before migration.Our studies also resulted in an in-depth description of cloud computing. In our studies we did not find previous works in which the critical success factors have been described in the context of cloud computing. In our empirical work, we identified three critical success factors for cloud computing and in doing so covered up some of the knowledge gap in between.
