    Abstract [en]

    Central banks have become more independent in many countries. A common rationale has been the existence of a credibility (or lack-of-trust) problem for monetary policy. This indicates a possible and until now unexplored link between social trust and central-bank independence. Our empirical findings, based on data from 149 countries, confirm such a link, in the form of a u-shaped relationship. We suggest that two factors help explain this finding: the need for this kind of reform and the ability with which it can be implemented. At low trust, the need for central-bank independence is sufficiently strong to bring it about, in spite of a low ability to undertake reform. At high trust, the ability to undertake reform is sufficiently strong to bring high independence about, in spite of a low need for it. At intermediate trust levels, lastly, neither need nor ability is strong enough to generate very independent central banks.

    Abstract [sv]

    Mitt syfte är att beskriva olika föreställningar om samverkan mellan musik och matematik samt erfarenheter och resultat av sådan samverkan i pedagogisk verksamhet. Studien är en litteratur-studie över ST Math + Music. Jag har även intervjuat två lärare på en svensk skola. Jag har be-skrivit samverkan genom överspridningseffekter, musikens inneboende matematik och undervis-ning i matematik med hjälp av musik. Resultaten tyder på att det finns såväl föreställningar om som erfarenheter av att integrering av musik och matematik kan ha en gynnsam inverkan när det gäller matematisk förståelse.

    Abstract [en]

    Pest insects pose a continuous and serious threat to museum objects that are organic in origin. Traditionally various chemical substances have been used for insect control, but in recent decades there has been increased concern about the disadvantages of this type of control strategy (Dawson 1988). Among the alternative control methods developed for museum use in recent decades, low oxygen treatment (Gilberg 1991)is of special interest. Using nitrogen or argon to replace oxygen, produces no residues and allows a conditioning of the gas regarding temperature and relative humidity. The first practical application in the Nordic countries of this method took place at Skokloster Castle in Central Sweden.

    Insect DNA Exposed to Two Insecticides2007In: International Conference Directions in Preventive Conservation Sibiu, / [ed] Bernath, I., Sibiu, Rumänien, 2007Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    Analyses of DNA is now a standard method in exploring taxonomical relationships between taxa or when studying intraspecific genetic variation. For these purposes museum specimen are often used. During their “museum history”, biological collections often have been treated with various insecticides to avoid museum pest attacks. There is a risk that some insecticides have more or less destroyed the specimen DNA, and thus it is important to know to what extent this happens to be able to estimate if old collection are useful for DNA screening and also to avoid future mistakes. Kigawa et al. (2003) showed that methyl bromide, methyl bromide/ethylene oxide (mixed), ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and methyl iodide all caused degradation of DNA in samples of mushroom and chicken muscle. We have tested possible negative effects on insect DNA from exposure of paradichlorobenzene and diclorvos. Species used were Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera), Musca domestica (Diptera), Dermestes hemeroidalis (Coleoptera), Periplaneta americana (Blattodea). The specimens were cut into two parts before completely dried in silica gel in closed containers for about 2 weeks. Three serials were set up in sealed, small glass containers for each species: (1) paradichlorobenzene (0.5g ±0.02g, representing saturated concentration); (2) diclorvos (0.5g ±0.02g, representing saturated concentration); and (3) no chemicals (blank). Each serial was sampled after 1 and 4 weeks. Immediately after sampling, the insect tissues were exposed to clean air for 8 hours in order to eliminate chemicals from the tissue before subsequent treatment. Together with the blank samples, the exposed tissues were stored in deep freezers before extracted for DNA after the last tissue sampling. After extraction, a 658 bp (base pair) COI gene fragment of the DNA was amplified using the forward and reverse primers HCO2198 (TAA ACT TCA GGG TGA CCA AAA AAT CA) and HCOout (CCA GGT AAA ATT AAA ATA TAA ACT TC), respectively. Electrophoresis of the PCR products was run for about 2h and presence or absence of the amplified COI gene fragment showed as band or absence of band in UV light. The gel was photographed for documentation of the results. For S. gregaria we did not obtain any clear results, probably because the primer did not work for the COI gene of this species. For the other three species no effect could be seen from the exposure of paradichlorobenzene, while dichlorvos destroyed the COI gene fragment after 28 days. For M. domestica a band was present after one week exposure. Our conclusion is that dichlorvos has a deteriorating effect on DNA. A more extensive experimental series on M. domestica has been started at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.     Abstract [en]

    Background: District nurses come in contact with people who have dementia diagnosis to different extent.

    Aim: The aim of this study was to examine nurses' experiences in meeting people with dementia diagnosis and how they adapt giving care that are based on the patient's needs.

    Method: The study was qualitative and based on interviews with four district nurses. For processing the collected data content analysis was used.

    Results: The analysis revealed the three domains, the nurse's situation, the person with dementia diagnosis´ situation and adapting care measures. Further analysis led to four categories, facing a complex care situation, to be challenged, to take care of resources and to adapt their health care measures to the individual or to the dementia. The district nurses identified that people with dementia is a fragile and vulnerable group and to care for them was a challenge on many levels. It requires in-depth knowledge and an ability to see all the factors that surround this population, it´s challenging, complex and exciting. Working person-centered is something that both sought and done in practice, they also take good care of resources that will benefit the patients.

    Conclusion: The district nurses showed joy and commitment that were prominent and seemed to be linked to their education and knowledge. Research including people with dementia and others with limited decision-making capacaty are needed and desirable. Their participation would provide valuable knowledge that could lead to the development in the care concerning this vulnerable population.

    Abstract [en]

    Background:

    Leg ulcer is a symptom caused by different underlying illnesses of

    which poor venous circulation is the most common one. People over 65 years of

    age are at the highest risk. Leg ulcer is a burden both for the patient and the

    healthcare system.

    Aim:

    To describe patients experiences of life with leg ulcers.

    Method:

    This study was conducted as a literature review, in which 16 articles was

    included using the databases Cinahl, Pubmed and Psycinfo. The articles were of

    qualitative and quantitative design.

    Result:

    Patient experiences of living with leg ulcers resulted in three categories:

    To experience suffering, to feel restricted and to experience lack of knowledge.

    The patients experienced a lot of suffering regarding pain, sleep deprivation and

    negative emotions. The patients also experienced limitations caused by

    immobility, limitations in the choice of clothes and shoes and social restrictions.

    The patients lack of knowledge, information and the nurses lack of knowledge

    about leg ulcer treatment was obvious in this study.

    Conclusion:

    Patient perceived a lot of suffering and limitations caused by life with

    leg ulcers. Pain was the most dominant symptom and was rarely assessed or

    treated properly. Pain caused deterioration and enhancement of other symptoms

    with profound effect on patient's wellbeing. Added support, information and pain

    control could improve patient wellbeing.

    Abstract [en]

    Aim:

    To describe the experience of being cared for in an isolation room in patients with infection or at risk for infection.

    Background:

    Patients may need to be isolated for various reasons, either to prevent infection or to protect infection-sensitive patients. Multiresistant bacteria are an increasing problem around the world. In order to reduce antibiotic resistance and prevent infection of multiresistant bacteria, a measure is to isolate patients who are infected.

    Method:

    A literature review. The result is based on 14 articles, both qualitative and quantitative articles have been used.

    Result:

    There were both positive and negative experiences of being cared for in an isolation room. Among the positive experiences were feelings of security and the opportunity to privacy. The negative experiences were connected with the physical environment, ignorance and emotions like anxiety and loneliness. Also the healthcare professional´s attitudes, response and compliance with routines affected the patient´s experience of isolation care.

    Conclusion:

    The isolation experience is unique to each individual and factors that can affect the experience are the healthcare professional’s ability to provide adequate information, have a good behavior, and give the patient the opportunity to preserve social contacts.

    Sprickbildning under formning av varmförzinkat stål: Crack formation during forming of zinc-coated steel2007Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Stålplåt varmförzinkas för att ge ett bra korrosionsskydd. Det är dock svårt att bearbeta varmförzinkade stålplåt t.ex. att rullforma p.g.a. att Fe-Zn faser som bildas på ytan vid varmförzinkning är sprödare än stålet. Detta ger upphov till sprickbildning i beläggningen vid bockning vilket medför försämringar i korrosionsskyddet. Farligast är de sprickor som går igenom alla faser. Syftet med denna rapport var att ta reda på om det är möjligt att rullforma u-balkar av varmförzinkad plåt. För att ta reda på hur mycket beläggningen spricker vid olika stora töjningar bockades små varmförzinkade plåtbitar. Med hjälp av SEM och LOM jämfördes antalet sprickor vid olika stora bockningsvinklar. Vid stora töjningar sågs en kraftig sprickbildning och flera sprickor som gick igenom alla faserna. Försök gjordes för att undersöka om sprickbildningen minskade vid bockning under en förhöjd temperatur. Bockningar utfördes vid 200, 250 och 300°C. En tydlig minskning i antalet sprickor i beläggningen kunde observeras, framförallt sprickorna i det yttersta zinklagret. Vid rullformning finns det risk att zinkbeläggningen fastnar på rullformningsverktyget (galling). Detta kan framförallt förväntas om rullformningen sker vid förhöjd temperatur. Ett enkelt repprovningsförsök utfördes vid 250°C temperatur för att ta reda på hur mycket som fastnar. En vanlig stålkula och en WCC-belagd kula testades och WCC-beläggningen gjorde att galling minskade avsevärt.

    Abstract [en]

    The sales of grocery stores' private label brands have increased and there is competition between private label brands and national brands. For grocery, there are several different brands in different product categories to choose from where the products are contentually the same. It is therefore important that companies create a value to the consumer through the brand in order for the consumer to choose that brand in front of competing brands. The study deals with young consumers belonging to Generation Y, which are born in the 1980s or 1990s, and are individuals who are characterized of being a consuming generation who considers that the brand is important and has a meaning in their buying process. The study therefore aims to explain why young consumers chooses a specific brand when buying grocery. In order to answer the purpose, a qualitative method has been applied. We assumed a theory of consumer-based brand equity and its five dimensions of awareness, loyalty, perceived quality, association/image and uniqueness. This theory was used to analyze the empirical data to get a result. The empirical data was collected using focus group interviews to get acquainted with young consumers different opinions to gain an understanding of the brand's significance in the purchase of food. The conclusion is that the brand is important to young consumers when selecting a food brand. They choose the brand that is in line with their preferences where knowledge of the brand, the design of the package, the price and ustainability are crucial.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this thesis is to establish a functional program for an eco-cycle building where people can bereached with knowledge of sustainable development. The background to this is that the municipality ofBorlänge approved a plan program with the vision of creating a new, climate neutral district and therebybecome a precursor for sustainable construction in the region. For instance, the functional program is meantto investigate the background and the prerequisites that existed. In the municipality’s plan program, thebuilding is described to have an educational function for the district and for Borlänge; a place which focuseson practical demonstrations and education for students and residents in recycling issues for energy, waterand waste/material in a comprehensible and compelling way. The eco-cycle building is planned to beestablished near the new school, with classes from 6 to 9, to make a cooperation possible.Requests from the municipality is that the eco-cycle building can work like a hub in the new district, butalso become a new place of interest and put Borlänge on the map for sustainable construction. Sustainableconstruction includes resource management, minimized energy use and renewable energy sources, but alsothat resources like energy, waste and water circulate in an eco-cycle. Theory has been obtained fromliterature focusing on how we should build our houses and cities if we want to join and create a sustainablesociety.Part of the purpose of this thesis was to explore how to disseminate information on environmental andcircular issues in an educational way. The theoretical part of the thesis is therefore focusing on selected partsof education obtained from previous research in children and youth learning for sustainable development,since studies show that it is important that children learn about these issues early in life. Education forSustainable Development is an important prerequisite for achieving the sustainability goals set by the UNuntil 2030. Upcoming generations must learn a sustainable way of life right from the start while the existingpopulation must drastically change their lifestyle.In order to gather empiricism, interviews were held with people who have been involved in the planningwork with the new district. It turned out that there were former driving spirits who introduced the idea of theeco-cycle building, but that it doesn’t currently are the major priority in the ongoing work with the newschool and housing.Engaging the users at an early stage provides better conditions for achieving a result that is effective andsatisfying for all parties.     until 2030. Upcoming generations must learn a sustainable way of life right from the start while the existing

    population must drastically change their lifestyle.

    In order to gather empiricism, interviews were held with people who have been involved in the planning

    work with the new district. It turned out that there were former driving spirits who introduced the idea of the

    eco-cycle building, but that it doesn’t currently are the major priority in the ongoing work with the new

    school and housing.

    The importance of getting the right IT-tools for a company is big. Having a user-centered design when getting the right IT-tools is becoming more and more relevant when it’s important to understand what the end-user really wants. By having an observation of how users use the existing IT-tools and subsequently interviewed regarding perceived shortcomings and lack of functionality, I have been able to familiarize myself with the situation in which partner is located. Based on the interviews, the requirements of the users have been compiled and, with the help of these, I have been able to present recommendations on IT-tools on the market that match the requirements. The result of the work reflects my research questions, where I want to develop the requirements of users and to propose new IT-tools already available on the market based on these requirements.

    Uppsatsen redovisar resultatet av en kartläggning och datamodellering av definitioner för de meddelanden som sänds mellan olika stödjande informationssystem på Kvarnsvedens pappersbruk. Därtill redovisas även en analys av systemarkitekturens påverkan på problem vid felsökning av meddelandetrafiken mellan olika system. Målet var att ta fram en datamodell för en metadatabas innehållande definitioner för samtliga meddelanden som sänds mellan informationssystemen på Kvarnsveden. Tanken med databasen är att den ska kunna kopplas till ett system för felsökning av meddelandetrafiken mellan informationssystemen. För att nå målet samlades dokumentation om meddelanden in och en datamodellering med stöd av tredje normalformen genomfördes. Syftet med arbetet var huvudsakligen att förändra hanteringen av meddelandedefinitioner, för att möjliggöra ändrade rutiner vid felsökning i meddelandetrafiken mellan informationssystem på Kvarnsvedens pappersbruk. Syftet bestod också i att studera hur val av systemarkitekturen kan vara avgörande vid problem som uppstår vid felsökning av meddelanden som sänds mellan de olika systemen. Resultatet visar att en gemensam datamodell för definitioner över olika typer av meddelanden är svår att åstadkomma. Meddelanden som är uppbyggda av fält med fasta längder kan inte beskrivas i samma datamodell som meddelanden med segment och dataelement avgränsade med en segmentstagg. Istället får man använda två modeller. Resultatet från analysen av systemarkitekturens påverkan av problem vid felsökning visar, att det går att identifiera några problem där det finns ett samband. Problemen rör främst områden så som ansvar, dokumentation och systemarkitekturens uppbyggnad.

    The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers use the scientific language in secondary school. It also aims to quantify the amount of scientific expressions a teacher uses when teaching science. The analysis was conducted by observing and sound recording three teachers during 45 minutes’ periods. The recording was then transcribed into a text file which was analyzed for scientific language and epistemological markers. The results showed that epistemological markers were used by all participants. The study also show that all participants presented the students to scientific language and that the teachers did so by the use of epistemological markers.

    The aim of this study was to investigate the agency employees’ different perspectives and approaches to their professional role focusing on creativity and customer relationships.Nine semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with six art directors and four graphic designers. Respondents were selected through a combined strategic and convenience sample of nine advertising agencies.Results showed that professionalism was nothing that the respondents thought about but it turned out that it is mainly about how art directors and graphic designers handle and relate to the customer. Furthermore, results also showed that the respondents saw variation as a positive aspect of the profession while they saw anxiety and outsider's lack of understanding of the profession as negative. Results also showed that art directors and graphic designers primarily look at creativity as problem solving, though they looked at problem solving in their role differently. They used the same methods to find inspiration and tackle anxiety.It was also found that the customer and the customer relationship played a big role in the advertising profession and the subject was discussed repeatedly.

    Background: People with mental health problems often have a somatic comorbidity. Research shows that patients with mental health problems often experience that they are treated unfairly and being misunderstood when seeking somatic care. Good encountering is a prerequisite for the creation of a caring relationship which forms the foundation for good care. Encountering also affect the patient's health, compliance, and experience of care. Aim: The aim was to illuminate factors of significance for the encountering of patients with mental health problems in somatic care from nurse’s perspective. Method: A literature review based on 15 articles with both quantitative and qualitative design. Searches were made in the databases PubMed and Cinahl. Result: Factors of significance for encountering could be divided into three themes: attitudes, factors related to the patient meeting and factors related to organization. Both positive and negative attitudes to patients with mental health emerged. Factors related to the patient meeting were anxiety and fear, complex communication, and insufficient skills. Factors related to organization were environment, time and resources, support and prioritization of somatic care. Conclusion: Conclusions that may be drawn from this study are that several different factors may be relevant to encountering, and that there is room for improvement. Important areas of improvement that emerged are nurse´s attitudes and competence. The result also indicates that the organization within somatic care is not adapted to the care and encountering of patients with mental health problems.

    Syftet med denna systematiska litteraturstudie var att beskriva de bröstcancerdrabbade kvinnornas upplevelser efter radikal mastektomi och deras behov av stöd efter operationen. Studien baserades på 20 vetenskapliga artiklar med både kvalitativ och kvantitativ ansats. Urvalet av artiklar genomfördes genom att använda Högskolan Dalarnas databaser där olika sökord kombinerades. Även manuell sökning genomfördes. Granskningen av artiklarna utfördes med hjälp av en modifierad granskningsmall. Resultatet visade att en mängd olika reaktioner uppstod efter operationen. Kvinnorna upplevde en negativ bild av sig själva vilket medförde att de inte accepterade sin nya kropp och identitet. Det var även vanligt att de bröstcanceropererade isolerade sig från omgivningen och skylde sin bröstförlust inför andra. Kvinnors bröst var ofta förknippat med sexualitet och när de miste sitt bröst efter mastektomin påverkade det även relationen till partnern. Efter operationen var de bröstcancerdrabbade i stort behov av stöd. Det sociala och emotionella stödet innebar för kvinnorna att de hade någon som lyssnade och stöttade dem. Genom att erbjuda dem informativt stöd upplevde de en större trygghet inför framtiden. Även det praktiska stödet var betydelsefullt för kvinnorna då de fick hjälp av familj och vänner med olika göromål.

    Background: There are no general guidelines for the assessment of normal fetal movement

    but there are clear links between the woman attentions of lower or weaker fetal movements

    and the risk of the baby dying in late pregnancy. A self- estimation method under

    development for the description of fetal movements can be in a dialogue between the woman

    and the midwife lead to finding more children who are at risk.

    Objective: The purpose of this study is to describe and compare fetal movements intensity

    and type in the full-term pregnancy based on two self-assessment methods, and to investigate

    whether the women`s descriptions can be organized into a matrix under development.

    Design: A study with quantitative cross-over design and content analysis

    Findings: The women describe fetal movements equal based on the two self-rating methods

    except under the category of slow movements. It was almost twice as likely to feel a fetal

    movement that was under the domain of powerful moves. The expression that the women

    made use of to describe fetal movement went to sort into an already existing matrix.

    Conclusions: The matrix was useful, it was possible to sort the fetal movements regarding the

    intensity and type. The matrix can help the women to describe fetal movements for the timely

    detection of anomalies, this would reduce the risk of injury and death in utero.

    Abstract [en]

    Personalized communication is when the marketing message is adapted to each individual by using information from a database and utilizing it in the various, different media channels available today. That gives the marketer the possibility to create a campaign that cuts through today’s clutter of marketing messages and gets the recipients attention. PODi is a non-profit organization that was started with the aim of contributing knowledge in the field of digital printing technologies. They have created a database of case studies showing companies that have successfully implemented personalized communication in their marketing campaigns. The purpose of the project was therefore to analyze PODi case studies with the main objective of finding out if/how successfully the PODi-cases have been and what made them so successful. To collect the data found in the PODi cases the authors did a content analysis with a sample size of 140 PODi cases from the year 2008 to 2010. The study was carried out by analyzing the cases' measurable ways of success: response rate, conversion rate, visited PURL (personalized URL:s) and ROI (Return On Investment). In order to find out if there were any relationships to be found between the measurable result and what type of industry, campaign objective and media vehicle that was used in the campaign, the authors put up different research uestions to explore that. After clustering and merging the collected data the results were found to be quite spread but shows that the averages of response rates, visited PURL and conversion rates were consistently very high. In the study the authors also collected and summarized what the companies themselves claim to be the reasons for success with their marketing campaigns. The result shows that the creation of a personalized campaign is complex and dependent on many different variables. It is for instance of great importance to have a well thought-out plan with the campaign and to have good data and insights about the customer in order to perform creative personalization. It is also important to make it easy for the recipient to reply, to use several media vehicles for multiple touch points and to have an attractive and clever design.

    Syftet med litteraturstudien var att ta reda vad olika studier kommit fram till angående patientutbildning om diabeteskost, motion, hur patientutbildningen bedrivs och uppföljning av vad patienterna fått med sig för kunskaper genom utbildningen. Datainsamlingen har skett i databaserna Elin, Blackwell-Synergy, PubMed och Elsevier. Vid sökningen gjordes begränsning till svensk, norsk och engelskspråkiga tidskrifter och alla artiklar var vetenskapliga. Sökorden som användes i olika kombinationer var: patient education, diabetes, education, exercise och diet. I de artiklar som hämtades via databassökningen valdes ytterligare artiklar från referenslistor. Urvalet gjordes med tanke på litteraturstudiens syfte och frågeställningar. De valda artiklarna granskades med avseende på vetenskaplig kvalité och poängsattes med hjälp av granskingsmallar. Studien baseras på 23 vetenskapliga artiklar, 16 från databassökning och 7 artiklar från referenslistor, daterade från år 2000 och fram till år 2005. Resultatet visade att patientutbildningen i samband med diabetes är nödvändigt, och det är viktigt att den anpassas utifrån patientens egna behov och resurser. Patienterna har olika motivation och förståelse för att ändra sitt förhållningssätt till kost och motion. Det är viktigt att patientundervisningen innehåller både grupp- och individuell undervisning i kombination med teoretisk- och praktisk undervisning under en längre tidsperiod.

    Syftet med denna studie är att nå kunskap om möjligheter och svårigheter som finns i arbetet med barns inflytande i förskolans vuxenstyrda aktiviteter genom att undersöka hur arbetet med detta uppfattas och uttrycks av förskollärare. Fem intervjuer har genomförts med förskollärare som sedan har bearbetats, tolkats, analyserats och diskuterats utifrån Foucaults teorier om makt samt tidigare forskning och annan litteratur som varit aktuell i ämnet. Sammanfattningsvis tyder resultatet på att de faktorer som tas upp som möjligheter och svårigheter i studien, ofta kan ses som både och samt att pedagogernas förhållningssätt blir avhängigt för huruvida barn ges inflytande eller inte. Studien visar också att det i sammanhanget blir viktigt för pedagogerna att reflektera över den makt och styrning som de har i arbetet med barns inflytande i förskolan.

    Introduction: Studies have shown that having a preterm infant may cause stress and powerlessness for parents. It is important to support parents around the feeding situation, and that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has appropriate space and place to help the family to bond to each other. For the healthcare professionals it is important to promote skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding; particularly for preterm infants. There are many studies on parent’s experiences of NICUs and a few studies on parent’s experiences of feeding their infant in the NICU.

    Objective: The objective of this study was to explore parents experiences of feeding their infant in the NICU.

    Design: The study was conducted using an ethnographic design.

    Results: A global theme of ‘The journey in feeding’ was developed from four organising themes: ‘Ways of infant feeding’; ‘Environmental influences’; ‘Relationships’ and ‘Emotional factors’. These themes illustrate the challenges mothers reported with different methods of feeding. The environment had a big impact on parent’s experiences of infant feeding. Some mothers felt that breastfeeding seemed unnatural because their infant was so tiny but breastfeeding and skin-to-skin contact helped them to bond to their infant. The mothers thought it was difficult to keep up with the milk production by only pumping. Routines were not inviting parents to find their own rhythm. They also felt stressed about the weighing. Healthcare professionals had positive and negative influences on the parents.

    Conclusions: This study demonstrates that while all parents expressed the wish to breastfeed, their ‘journey in feeding’ was highly influenced by method of feeding, environmental, relational and emotional factors. The general focus upon routines and assessing milk intake generated anxiety and reduced relationality. Midwives and neonatal nurses need to ensure that they emphasise and support the relational aspects of parenting and avoid over-emphasising milk intake and associated progress of the infant

    Purpose: The purpose of the literature review was to describe the nursing interventions the nurse can take to prevent health care related urinary tract infection.

    Background: According to Swedish national board of health and welfare (u.å.a) about 10 % of the hospitalized patients in 2008 was affected with a nosocomial infection. The most common nosocomial infection is urinary tract infection. This means more suffering for patients and costs society money. A nurse has a responsibility to promote health, prevent illness, restore health and prevent suffer for patients.

    Method: The study was conducted as a literature review. The articles were searched via the database PubMed and Cinahl. The result is based on 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria and quality control.

    Results: For the nurse to prevent health care -related urinary tract infection it requires nurse care measures like documentation, accurate indication, good hand hygiene , education and adherence to procedures at the insertion of the catheter.

    Intentionen med denna uppsats kan väsentligen uppdelas i två sektioner: att först undersöka hur temat ensamhet uttrycks i Inger Edelfeldts romaner med huvudsaklig utgångspunkt i Kamalas bok, och att sedan relatera detta existentiellt genomströmmade ensamhetstema till den filosofiska existentialismen i Jean-Paul Sartres tappning. Som hon beskrivs av Edelfeldt är människan oundvikligen fånge i ensamheten. Alla hennes ansträngningar att erfara gemenskap faller om intet och inför denna bistra verklighet genomlever människan ett främlingsskap emellan sig själv och omvärlden; en alienation som fullständigt omformar och snedvrider hennes uppfattning av sig själv. Som en röd tråd löper alltså ensamheten som ett grundtema genom Edelfeldts romanproduktion och blir i de senare verken allt mer framträdande. Det är följaktligen särskilt i dessa senare romaner som åtskilliga betydande likheter med den filosofiska existentialismen kan uppvisas. Människans obevekliga fångenskap i en utsatt tillvaro präglad av ensamhet och ångest – där befrielse annan än den funnen i flykten ifrån ansvaret (mängdförsjunkenheten) och i livslögnen (den onda tron) saknas – är densamma i såväl Edelfeldts prosa som i existentialismens doktriner. Den alienation som upplevs av Edelfeldts romankaraktärer kan på goda grunder relateras till Sartres Äcklet. I Edelfeldts verk uteblir emellertid människans tillblivelse som den större individen i det valögonblicket; det moment i vilket Sartre ser människans enda möjlighet. Slutligen överväger dock de textuella likheterna emellan Inger Edelfeldts romaner och den franska existentialismen, och därför föreligger alltså tydliga spår av nämnda filosofi i Edelfeldts verk.

    Med utgångspunkt i de två generella riktningar som tidigare läsningar av Inger Edelfeldts romaner tagit – dels en som antyder en existentiell underton och dels en som framhäver ett feministiskt perspektiv – har syftet med arbetet varit att undersöka den konfliktfyllda relationen mellan existentialism och feminism i ”Det hemliga namnet” och sammanlinka denna med Simone de Beauvoirs existentialistiska feminism i ”Det andra könet”. Då de två separata läsningarna av ”Det hemliga namnet”, som prövade romantextens överensstämmelse med de två ideologierna var för sig, korreleras med ”Det andra könet” framkommer att de två centrala punkter på vilka Edelfeldts roman skiljer sig ifrån den franska existentialismen – nämligen att människan inte till varje pris MÅSTE välja för att leva i god tro och att gemenskap visar sig möjlig då människor möts i generös ömsesidighet – också gäller för Beauvoirs texter. Ideologikritiska läsningar av Beauvoir visar att dessa avsteg från Sartres filosofi är ett resultat av hennes kvinnobefriande strävan: en feminism som hävdar att det är kvinnans eget fel att hon inte kan förverkliga sig själv som subjekt och som cementerar henne som den evigt Andre i förhållande till mannen, kan nämligen inte verka emot ojämställdheten mellan könen. Således uppstår en konflikt mellan existentialism och feminism i såväl ”Det hemliga namnet” som i ”Det andra könet”. En feminism som inkorporerat en manlig filosofi har nämligen också införlivat kvinnoförtryckande värden i den egna frigörelsestrategin.

    Denna studie har gjorts på tre olika skolor inom samma kommun i Mellansverige, där tre lärare, två rektorer och två specialpedagoger har intervjuats. Eleverna på skolorna går i årskurserna F-5. Studien belyser hur skolan arbetar med elever som har dyslexi, samt vilken syn några lärare, specialpedagoger och rektorer har på hur man ska arbeta med detta. Studien visar att alla parter anser att dyslexi upptäcks för sent och att åtgärder borde sättas in tidigare samt att de viktigaste åtgärderna är pedagogiska anpassningar och kompensationshjälpmedel. Såväl i denna studie som i tidigare forskning framkommer svårigheter med att urskilja dyslexi tidigt. Elevernas problem kan ha olika orsaker och eleverna blir snabbt duktiga på att dölja sina problem med läsning och skrivning. Det framkommer i undersökningen ett missnöje hos lärarna med resursfrågan. Det poängteras dock att lärare måste bli bättre på att använda de hjälpmedel som finns för att elever med dyslexi ska få den hjälp de behöver och känna den motivation som är nödvändig.

    In Gästrikland in central Sweden, deglaciation took place c. 11 000 cal. a BP. In the present study the shore displacement during the earliest ice-free period is investigated by the 14C dating of sediment from isolated lake basins. The shore displacement in Gästrikland includes an initial phase (∼500 years) of rapid regression, followed by a slowing of the relative sea level (RSL) fall to a rate similar to that of the remaining Holocene c. 9250 cal. a BP. The Ancylus Lake stage of the Baltic Sea belongs to the analysed interval. The RSL curve and glacial unloading history are used to separate and quantify elements of isostatic uplift. The postglacial uplift is ∼260 m, of which ∼45 m forms a rapid initial rise, which can be treated as qualitatively separate from the later, slower rise. There is considerable glacial unloading just prior to the deglaciation, but calculations suggest that only a small part of this relates directly to the rapid early Holocene rebound: most unloading is transferred either to uplift immediately prior to the deglaciation or to subsequent Holocene or future uplift. The isostatic rise in Gästrikland occurring between the end of the Younger Dryas stadial and the deglaciation, c. 11 500–11 000 cal. a BP, is estimated to be 100–110 m. Observations and estimations are incompatible with a Weichselian maximum ice thickness much smaller that 3000 m. The lack of glacial unloading during the Younger Dryas has a measurable impact on the Holocene isostatic rebound in Gästrikland, reducing it by an estimated 20–25 m.

    The shore displacement during the Holocene in southeastern Ångermanland, Sweden, has been investigated by means of radiocarbon-dating of isolation intervals in sediment cores from a total of nine new basins. Results from earlier investigations have been used in complement. There is a forced regression in the area from c. 9300 BP (c. 10500 cal. yr BP) until c. 8000 BP (c. 9000 cal. yr BP), on averagec. 8 m/100 years, after which there is a gradually slowing regression of c. 2.5–1.0 m/100 years up to the present time. The most rapid regression occurs during the later phase of the Ancylus Lake stage, 9500–9000 cal. yr BP. There is no evidence of halts in the regression. Crustal uplift in the area since deglaciation is c. 310 m. The deglaciation of southeastern Ångermanland took place c. 9300 BP (c. 10500 cal. yr BP); this is c. 900 years earlier than the age given by clay varve dating. The shore displacement curve provides a means of estimating the difference between the clay varve time scale and calibrated radiocarbon dates, by comparison with varve-dated altitudes of alluvial deltas of the River Ångermanalven. From c. 2500 to c. 8000 cal. BP there is a deficit in clay varves of some 300 years; further back in time this discrepancy increases significantly. The main explanation for the discrepancy is most likely lacking varves in the time-span 8500–10200 cal. yr BP, located along the upper reaches of River Ångermanalven below the highest shore level.

    This paper deals with the mid-Holocene shore level history and vegetation development in Gästrikland, east-central Sweden. This is investigated using sediment and microfossil records and 14C datings. The time span covered is c. 8000–5000 cal yr BP. Vegetation history during this time includes an increase in Tilia pollen 6500–6300 cal yr BP and a decrease in Ulmus and Corylusc. 5500 cal yr BP. The former change coincides with a sharp drop in relative sea level (RSL) of some 5 m; this RSL drop can be correlated to the regression from the L3 transgression of the Litorina Sea, identified in other areas around the Baltic Sea. The possible connections between RSL and climate (in particular changes on a maritime-continental continuum), as indicated by new pollen data and other records, are investigated. The new material shows, in comparison to other pollen records from southern and central Scandinavia, unusually high percentages of Tilia,Ulmus and Corylus pollen, but less Quercus. The change in pollen spectra around 5500 cal yr BP can be correlated to the northern European “elm decline”. A regional cooling is recorded in widespread data for this time, but observations suggest that other factors must be considered here, including disease and change in the physical landscape due to the ongoing land uplift.

    The detailed clay varve chronology and an extensive knowledge of the highest postglacial shore level elevation (HS) in northern Sweden, along the Bothnian western coast, provides opportunities for determining the pattern of isostatic rise and centre of uplift from the early Holocene. The shore level of c. 10 100 cal yr bp (10 ka) for this area is determined by subtracting, from the metachronous HS elevations, the fall in relative sea level between local deglaciation time and the chosen reference time. The area of highest uplift since 10 ka is situated somewhat north of the location with the world-record HS (Skuleberget in Angermanland), but south of the area with most rapid current rise. Wave erosion marks in the studied area are seen to be more consistent indicators of HS than glaciofluvial delta levels. The gradients of shore marks at 10 ka are generally small within the investigation area. The regional 10 ka shore level pattern shows considerable irregularity compared to the current uplift. Central Sweden and western Finland show 10 ka gradients that indicate isostatic response to late (1310 ka bp) glacial unloading. Indications of a secondary uplift centre west of the present investigation area are reported in previous work; this also suggests rapid isostatic response to unloading. Finally, the possibility of identifying errors in the varve-dated deglaciation chronology via the 10 ka shore level pattern is illustrated.

    Deglaciation took place in eastern Jämtland and Ångermanland in central Sweden c. 10 500–10 200 cal. yr BP. In the present study, vegetation development and shore displacement during the earliest ice-free period are investigated by 14C dating of sediment from six isolated lake basins and by pollen analysis. A brief but distinct peak in Hippophaë occurs in all pollen diagrams coincident with basin isolation, followed by up to 500 years (varying locally) by an Alnus rise. The Alnus curve does not display a synchronous rise in the area. Its expansion below the highest shore level is time-transgressive and controlled mainly by the timing of basin isolation. The relationship between regional Alnus expansion and changes in hydrology and climate is discussed. The pollen diagrams show Pinus predominance with Corylus to the east (more coastal areas) and Betula predominance (though less pronounced) to the west during the period 10 200–9000 cal. yr BP. However, comparisons between sites suggest marked variability in the forest development. Shore displacement in easternmost Jämtland c. 10 300–9000 cal. yr BP is equal to or slightly more rapid than that of SE Ångermanland, contrary to the present pattern of isostatic recovery. A rapid shore level regression c. 10 300–10 000 cal. yr BP may be related to drainage of the Ancylus Lake.

    Analysis of a light detection and ranging-derived digital elevation model has revealed previously unknown fault scarps in central Jämtland, Sweden. These are interpreted to have been formed by earthquakes at the time of deglaciation, c. 10 ka BP, in an area with current low-magnitude seismicity. The dating is based upon morphology and comparison with similar features at other locations in Sweden but not supported by independent dating. Observed scarps are 0.4–6 km long, 2–8 m high, trending SSW–NNE to WSW–ENE, the northern and western sides uplifted. The dimensions of the scarps suggest an approximate moment magnitude M 7 of the strongest corresponding earthquakes.

Alla dessa har på ett eller annat sätt kommit i kontakt med, och använt sig av, Wendickmodellen, men det är inte alla som använder den i dag.

    Som teoretisk utgångspunkt har Vygotskijs sociokulturella perspektiv samt Deweys pragmatiska perspektiv använts. Resultatet visar att Wendickmodellens vara eller icke vara inte är vad som avgör om en utlärningssituation är tillfredsställande eller inte, utan snarare att det är det aktiva valet av metod från läraren som avgör. Resultatet visar också att det oftast inte går att använda sig av endast en modell, i alla fyra intervjuer som gjordes blev det tydligt att alla lärare valde att arbeta på olika sätt med sina elever, oavsett om de använde sig av Wendickmodellen eller inte.

    Den här undersökningen fokuserar på impressiv språkstörning som bland annat innefattar svårigheter att ta till sig och bearbeta information via text, samt svårigheter att koppla språkljud till bokstäver och meningar. För att underlätta skolgången för elever med impressiv språkstörning finns flera olika in- och ominlärningsmetoder och pedagogiska hjälpmedel att använda. En av alla dessa är Wittingmetoden, en läsinlärningsmetod som bygger på strukturerat arbete utifrån varje enskild bokstav och dess ljud upp till texter och större sammanhang. Wittingmetoden grundades av Maja Witting och har två grundtankar, dels inlärning och dels ominlärning. Vilken av delarna som används beror på om metoden används från grunden eller om den används som hjälp vid svårigheter. Wittingmetoden används inte i så stor utsträckning i svenska skolor och i de flesta fall den används så används den som inlärningsmetod. För elever med impressiv språkstörning används metodens ominlärningsdel, vilket bygger på att arbetet börjar på det ställe där eleverna själva känner att de inte har full kontroll över inlärningsprocessen. På så sätt kan eleverna få stöd utifrån sin egen utvecklingsfas.

    Det finns både för- och nackdelar med Wittingmetoden. En stor fördel är den överblick läraren får på varje enskild elevs läsutveckling. En nackdel är den tidsåtgång som krävs för att kunna använda metoden, den stora tidsåtgången gör att det kan ta lång tid innan man kan se resultat av det arbete som görs. En annan stor nackdel är de resurser som krävs för att metoden ska kunna användas, dels måste den undervisande pedagogen ha stor kunskap inom metoden och dels används Wittingmetoden i mindre grupper eller en-till-en. Detta ställer krav på minst två pedagoger i varje klassrum vilket inte alltid är en möjlighet.

    Innan användning av Wittingmetoden kan börja så går man utbildningar för att få kunskap om metodens tillvägagångssätt. Dessa kurser kostar pengar och kan vara en av anledningarna till att metoden inte används i så stor utsträckning. En annan anledning till att metoden inte används kan vara resursbristen, dels ställer metoden stora krav på varje pedagog och dels så ställs stora krav på andra vuxna i skolans värld som kan fortsätta undervisningen med de elever som inte undervisas enligt Wittingmetoden.

    Forskningen kring denna typ av läspedagogik är knapp. Forskning kring Wittingmetoden som specifik metod är nästintill obefintlig, den forskning som finns är beställd eller utförd av Wittingföreningen vilket kan försvåra en objektivitet gentemot metoden. En slutsats som dock är möjlig att dra utifrån den forskning som finns både kring läspedagogik och Wittingmetoden är att en tydligt strukturerad och planerad undervisning främjar läsutvecklingen – inte bara hos elever med impressiv språkstörning.

    Denna undersökning har granskat Wittingmetoden utifrån tre frågeställningar. Hur används Wittingmetoden i mellanstadiet för elever med en impressiv språkstörningsdiagnos i svensk skola? Vilka slutsatser drar forskning om Wittingmetoden inom läsutveckling för elever med en impressiv språkstörningsdiagnos? Och vilka för- och nackdelar finns med Wittingmetoden? För att hitta svar på dessa frågor har databaserna Summon@Dalarna, Google scholar, DiVa och LIBRIS snvänts. Utöver det har också en manuell sökning gjorts på återkommande författare som verkat intressanta för undersökningen.
