    Denna uppsats handlar om människors lyssningsvanor vid insomning. Syftet är att ta redan på hur vanligt det är att folk lyssnar på musik eller andra ljud när det ska sova och skiljer det sig något mellan ålder och genus.Datainsamlingen gjordes genom en webbenkät som publicerades på Facebook för att ha möjlighet att nå ut till en stor del informanter. Undersökningen fick in svar från 919 unika respondenter i olika åldrar.Forskningsöversikten visar att musik och ljud kan vara en effektiv metod för att somna och att komma till ro. Musik och ljud kan främja avslappning både fysiologiskt genom att sänka hjärtfrekvensen samt psykiskt genom att leda bort tankar. Tidigare forskning visar även att mobiltelefoner och surfplattor ger ifrån sig blått ljus vilket får hjärnan att ”tro” att det är dag och leder därför till ökad vakenhet.En stor del av de som svarade på enkäten lyssnar på något vid insomning och tycker att det är till hjälp. Majoriteten av informanterna föredrar att lyssna på röster i form av podcast, film och tv-serier eller ljudböcker före musik.     Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur färg kan användas inom filmskapande som en narrativ komponent. För att genomföra undersökningen har jag studerat litteratur om narrativ samt färgteori och symbolik. Jag har sedan genomfört en fallstudie på två filmer Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind och What Dreams May Come för att undersöka hur just dessa två filmer använder sig av färg för att skapa och främja ett narrativ. Analysen visar på att dessa två filmer använder färg som ett narrativ på liknande sätt genom dess användning av starka associationer samt övergångar mellan olika färger.

    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet med detta examensarbete var att få en förståelse för musikens betydelse i den narrativa berättelsen samt ge läsarna en uppfattning om hur det i kombination med ljuddesign och specifika röstaspekter kan användas för att skapa en känsla av närvaro.

    Uppsatsen inleds med en redogörelse för tidigare forskning och därefter har en audio-visuell analys genomförts på två nyckelscener i Lejonkungen som representerar vändpunkter.

    Metoden baserades på Wingstedts kategorisering av musikaliska berättarfunktioner och kompletteras med andra musikaliska attribut beskrivna av Gabrielsson och Lindströms samt van Leuweens komponenter för att identifiera olika rösttyper.

    Sekvenserna analyserades seriellt där respektive scen innehåller en sammanfattande bakgrund, ljudbeskrivning och funktionsanalys följt av ett resultat.

    Resultatet visade att de två scenerna bygger på emotiva-, informativa-, deskriptiva-, vägledande- och temporala berättarfunktioner samt att det fanns en tydlig distinktion när det kommer till gestaltning av protagonist och antagonist både musikaliskt och gällande deras röstkaraktäristik.

    I den avslutande diskussionen fastslogs spekulativt att det känslomässiga engagemang publiken upplever spelar en betydande roll för filmens popularitet och dessa funktioner framförs väldigt subtilt. Förhoppningsvis kan resultatet leda till en större medvetenhet om hur musik och röstkaraktäristik kan brukas för att fånga publikens intresse. Detta kan vara till nytta både bland kompositörer och regissörer samt en inspirationskälla för framtida studenter inom audio-visuella medier.

    Trafikverket is the government branch that operates all of Sweden's roads and

    railroads and one of their main goals is the so called zero vision. The idea behind

    zero vision is that all roads shall be safe to use and that no one should get injured

    while on the roads. One part of fulfilling this goal is that Trafikverket gives out short

    term forecast about the road conditions and driving conditions. Currently a manual

    system called NTIS is used, but Trafikverket is currently developing a new

    automatic system called RCC. RCC is supposed to be able to form short term

    forecast by using different kinds of data such as weather stations.

    The reason behind this study is to compare how well the two different systems do a

    short term forecast. They are paired against each other, but the goal is also to look

    how it really was in reality. The study was done as an explanatory case study. Data

    was collect by document of many kinds and the analysis was quantitative since the

    result is a percentage of how well each system had done.

    During the study many things were concluded. Such as both systems had their

    strengths and flaws. For example the old NTIS system was still better at icy and

    slushy roads. While the new RCC system was good at snowy and wet roads. Also a

    clear strength and also reason behind RCC was it’s automatic and constant report

    time, which was a problem in the NTIS systemet. The result of the study was a

    percentage how well each system did. But also suggestions how rules of the new

    RCC system may be improved was also given that may strengthen the result of the

    system.

    The thesis has investigated the problem of information logging and storage from a forensic standpoint; and the study has been carried out towards a company which cannot be named for confidential reasons. what information should be logged and what has to be logged according to the Swedish law, and for how long time should the logs be saved. The problem here is to find out what in general should be saved into a log file so it can be applied to as many systems as possible. The thesis has also investigated when to do a forensic investigation and what to log in Microsoft server environment (webserver, firewall and exchange server).

    I intend to solve the problem by describing what needs to be saved in general and find out if there is a law that demands information to be logged. I intend to find out what needs to be saved from a forensic point of view. I am going to find out what should be logged on Microsoft server applications: webserver, firewall and exchange server.

    The method used to solve the problem was with practical study and literature study. Practical study where made on a Microsoft server 2012 on webserver, firewall and exchange server where I looked at the log files and what information that were saved to them.

    The report finds out what should be saved in a log file from a forensic point of view and what needs to be saved according to Swedish law. The report finds how long time the log files have to be saved. The report finds when to do a forensic investigation and what to investigate.

    Abstract [en]

    Usability for software implies that it should be easy for the user to understand how to perform the tasks the user intends to do. There are methods and standards available to use for ensuring that software is usable, but it is common to underestimate the resources needed to ensure usability during development. Our partner for the report expressed a need to evaluate the usability of the learning management system Learn2Esport which is one of their products, hence the purpose of the report was to identify deficiencies, as well as provide suggestions for improvement of the product. To accomplish this, we performed a case study with both qualitative and quantitative methods. Four individual interviews were made to identify deficiencies and then a heuristic evaluation according to proven guidelines. The evaluation resulted in 20 identified deficiencies of varying degrees of severity, ranging from minor deficiencies such as misleading choice of concepts, to major deficiencies that cause the user to avoid using features. Seven of these 20 are considered to be major usability issues that are important to resolve. To give suggestions for improvement we provided textual descriptions of how the deficiencies can be solved but also graphical sketches for how the most critical deficiencies can be solved.

    Mastring är slutprocessen i musikproduktion som är ämnad att förbereda musiken för olikamedier. Detta är en undersökning av två olika mastringsprocesser, ”In the box” samt med”outboards”. Undersökningen gjordes med hjälp av kontrollerade lyssningstest med vanalyssnare.Två låtar i olika genrer skickades till två olika professionella studios och blev mastrade enligtdessa två olika processer.Lyssningstestet utfördes i en kontrollerad ljudmiljö, nämligen ett akustiskt behandlatkontrollrum där respondenterna lyssnade en och en och där alla hade samma premisser.Testet utfördes med två mastringsanpassade ABX-test och fyra låtar att lyssna på med entillhörande enkät och tog cirka 40 minuter per respondent.Resultatet visar på att vana lyssnare inte alltid kan höra huruvida låtar är mastrade ”in thebox” eller med ”outboards”.

    Denna uppsats handlar om ljudproduktion, teknik, framtiden och forskningen kring artificiell

    intelligens. Hur mycket betyder tekniken för dagens ljudproducenter och hur stor påverkan

    har den på deras arbete? Och hur kommer framtiden att se ut? Vad kan utvecklingen av

    artificiell intelligens bidra med, eller inte bidra med?

    Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa relationen mellan teknikens förändringar och dess

    inverkan på ljudproducenters arbetssätt och yrkesroll. Med hjälp av kvalitativa

    forskningsintervjuer och Anthony Giddens modernitetsteori försöker jag svara på hur

    professionella ljud- och musikproducenter uppfattar att tidigare tekniska framsteg har

    förändrat deras yrke och yrkesroll samt hur de resonerar kring framtiden och den

    teknikutveckling vi ser framför oss.

    I tidigare forskningsavsnittet kan man se att ny teknik på många sätt har påverkat och

    förändrat hur ljud- och musikproducenters arbete sett ut. Resultatet visar på att

    teknikutvecklingens fördelar idag främst är effektivitet, att tillåta producenter att genomföra

    sina uppgifter snabbare och lättare. Det tekniska kunnandet som krävs för att hantera tekniken

    minskar också, vilket tillsammans med den minskade tidsåtgången låter producenterna att

    fokusera än mer på den kreativa biten i arbetet.

    De flesta informanterna har en positiv inställning till framtiden och tror att artificiell

    intelligens kan bli ett bra verktyg de kan använda i sitt arbete. Tyngdpunkten på vad de tror

    att framtidens teknik kan bidra med ligger fortfarande på smidighet och att genomföra

    uppgifter snabbare snarare än att lyfta resultatet på arbetet.

    In the view of the current service development of the express delivery industry and the data quality problem experienced thereof, we consider to construct an index-based evaluation system for the service quality for the express delivery industry through the analysis of market investigation and data analysis. This system applies analytic hierarchy process (AHP), to survey expert’s options and obtain the index weights. The analytical evaluation of service quality for the specific express delivery company is conducted with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. A service satisfaction degree for the express delivery company is generated to improve the overall service performance. Through evaluating results of the solution to the problems in the quality of service, this paper aims at establishing a guideline to improve their service quality in express delivery enterprises. This research aims at the development of a novel method for service quality evaluation in the area of the fast growing businesses of express delivery enterprises.

    The number of internet users is growing by the second and with an

    increase of internet users, there is also an increase of User-generated

    content. Web application that bases their buisness on User-generated

    content is often called by the name Collaborative Web Applications. There

    is a challenge for those types of applications to maintain high quality of

    content, since the amount of content that flows in is massive. Previous

    studies in the area propose that this challenge might be answered by a

    Web Reputation System. Previous studies has also proposed to divide

    Web Reputation System into various simple models. One of these models

    is karma, which is the focus in this report. Karma as a model aims to

    reward users who contribute content that is considered by other users as

    rewarding or entertaining. Through literature studies, guidelines on karmabased

    systems could not be found, which suggets that its has not

    previously been investigated. This made it a relevant problem for this

    report. The work has been carried out as a case study and used

    documents and a questionnaire to answer the research questions. Through

    data acquisition from both users of existing karma-based systems and a

    comparison of these existing system, it has resulted in a number of

    guidlines which are presented in this report.

    Denna uppsats behandlar skillnader mellan hur manliga och kvinnliga hjältar gestaltas på film. För

    att undersöka detta analyseras filmen The Hunger Games och filmens kvinnliga huvudkaraktär

    Katniss Everdeen. I en semiotisk analys presenteras fem scener från filmen, där Katniss' egenskaper

    och handlingar analyseras mot en bakgrund av vad en hjälte är, hur den traditionellt manliga hjälten

    framställs inom litteratur och film, och även genom att se på olika kvinnliga hjälte-arketyper.

    Resultatet visar att Katniss Everdeen besitter främst heroiska egenskaper, och därför kan

    kategoriseras som en hjälte. Katniss har stora likheter med den traditionellt manliga hjälten men

    hennes motiv är annorlunda från denna. Hon har även likheter med kvinnliga hjältearketyper, men

    inte tillräckligt många för att kunna kategoriseras inom dessa. Slutsatsen blir att Katniss Everdeen

    besitter både maskulina och feminina egenskaper, och att hennes könsidentitet inte påverkar hennes

    hjälte-status.

    Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka hur en åskådare relaterar till en film beroende på om filmen

    har dramatisk eller glad musik, samt till att undersöka huruvida en åskådare relaterar till en film

    annorlunda beroende på ordningen som hen ser två filmer i. Detta undersöks genom en

    triangulering av kvantitativ enkätundersökning som följs av kvalitativa fenomenografiska

    intervjuer, där grunden för undersökningen ligger i två filmer med samma bildsekvens men olika

    musik. Den empiriska grunden ligger i de 98 enkätsvar vi samlade in för undersökningen.

    Resultaten av undersökningen visar generellt att sinnesstämningar som sentimentalitet, nostalgi

    och positivitet uppstår hos åskådare som ser en film med glad musik, och att sinnesstämningar

    som rädd, ängslig och ångerfull uppstår hos åskådare som ser en film med dramatisk musik.

    Resultatet visar även att åskådaren lägger in värderingar i den andra filmen hen ser, beroende på

    hur hen tolkar den första filmen. Undersökningen syftar till att besvara följande frågeställningar:

    Hur relaterar åskådaren till en film med glad musik?

    Hur relaterar åskådaren till en film med dramatisk musik?

    Relaterar åskådaren olika till filmerna beroende på vilken ordning hen sett filmerna i?

    I många kulturer så har musikerns roll varit något av vikt, men samtidigt av låg status. Musiker måste ofta hänge sig till olika områden av musicerande för att gå runt och därför är det viktigt att undersöka hur de olika alternativen ser ut. En väg kan vara att para ihop sig med kommersialism och modifiera sitt komponerande efter en beställare som vill betala för musik med avsikt att marknadsföra ett varumärke.Syftet med studien är att få en djupare förståelse av hur tre musikproducenter inom reklamfilmsmusik utför sina uppdrag, förhåller sig till sina beställare och uppfattar reklambranschen. De empiriska resultaten har samlats genom tre semistrukturerade djupintervjuer med producenter från olika arbetssituationer för att få en generaliserad kartläggning av reklambranschen utifrån informanternas perspektiv. Slutsatsen visar ett likartat arbetssätt, där producentens hårdaste arbete ligger i att på ett kommunikativt och diplomatiskt sätt ta reda exakt vad beställarens mål är med produktionen. Vidare är branschuppfattningen optimistisk till hur medvetandet kring musikens funktion har utvecklats positivt, men betänker även att ny teknik och nya aktörer kan komma att begränsa progressionen genom att erbjuda färdigskriven musik till ett lågt pris.

    Strömmande musik över internet är nu vanligt att använda i Sverige. Denna

    medieteknologiska förändring har medfört att olika betalningsmodeller för att lyssna på

    inspelad musik har vuxit fram. Tidigare forskning om användning av inspelad musik

    och olika lyssningssätt i form av aktiv och passiv lyssning ger mig skäl att anta att

    grupper av lyssnare lyssnar på musik med olika motiv. Syftet är att med en

    webbenkätundersökning jämföra vanliga lyssnares och musikartisters betalningsvilja för

    inspelad musik för att bidra med kunskap om sambanden mellan betalningsvilja,

    lyssningssätt och musikformat. Frågeställningen är: Finns det någon skillnad mellan

    vanliga lyssnares och musikartisters betalningsvilja för inspelad musik? Resultatet visar

    att betalningsviljan för att lyssna på inspelad musik är större hos musikartister än

    vanliga lyssnare. Båda grupperna använder strömmad musik mest, men betalningsviljan

    är större för fysiska format. Musikartister lyssnar aktivt till skillnad mot vanliga

    lyssnare som lyssnar passivt.

    Continuous delivery (CD) is a software engineering approach where the focus lays on creating a short delivery cycle by automating parts of the deployment pipeline which includes build, deploy-, test and release process. CD is based on that during development should be possible to always automatically generate a release based on the source code in its current state. One of CD's many advantages is that through continuous releases it allows you to get a quick feedback loop leading to faster and more efficient implementation of new functions, at the same time fixing errors. Although CD has many advantages, there are also several challenges a maintenance management project must manage in the transition to CD. These challenges may differ depending on the maturity level for a maintenance management project and what strengths and weaknesses the project has.

    Our research question was: "What challenges can a maintenance management project face in transition to Continuous delivery?" The purpose of this study is to describe Continuous delivery and the challenges a

    maintenance management project may face during a transition to Continuous delivery. A descriptive case study has been carried out with the data collection methods of interviews and documents. A situation analysis was created based on the collected data in a shape of a process model that represent the maintenance management projects release process. The processmodel was used as the basis of SWOT analysis and analysis by Rehn et al's Maturity Model. From these analyzes we found challenges of a maintenance management project may face in the transition to CD. The challenges are about customers and the management's attitude towards a transition to CD. But the biggest challenge is about automation of the deployment pipeline steps.

    Uppsatsen undersöker skillnader mellan 3D program och spelmotorer. En producent i

    dagens mediesamhälle har många val mellan program och ibland kan det vara svårt att

    dra slutsatser. Syftet var att ta reda på hur valet mellan de båda programtyperna

    påverkar användaren av projektet, allt i ett arkitekturs och interiörs visualiserings

    sammanhang. En bättre förståelse av detta kan hjälpa en producent med valet av

    produktionsprogram och förbättra upplevelsen hos slutanvändarna. Sex personer

    intervjuades utifrån ett snöbollsurval för att få fram data som sedan kan analyseras.

    Deltagarna delades in i två grupper, en med tidigare erfarenhet av interaktiva projekt

    och spel och en utan, intervjuerna skedde individuellt. Dessa deltagare fick se och prova

    fyra exempel bestående av tre projekt producerade i 3D program och spelmotorer. Det

    visade sig att majoriteten av deltagarna tyckte att grafiskt sätt var exemplet producerat i

    3D programmet bättre från ett grafiskt perspektiv men deltagarna tyckte att spelmotorn

    låg så nära att det egentligen inte spelade någon roll, båda programmen låg på samma

    nivå när det kom till grafisk kvalitet. Alla förutom en av deltagarna föredrog ett

    interaktivt exempel över en färdig video då deltagaren själv fick möjligheten att röra sig

    runt och fokusera på vad de själva vill. Deltagaren som inte föredrog ett interaktivt

    exempel sade att det var på grund av avsaknaden av tidigare erfarenhet. De andra två

    deltagarna som saknade den tidigare erfarenheten tyckte den gick att lära sig och såg

    stort potential med det interaktiva exemplet. Deltagarna önskade sig även mer

    interaktivitet, både i form av interaktiva funktioner som normalt sätt finns i spel men

    även mer som tillåter dem att leva sig in i projektet.

    Market research is often conducted through conventional methods such as surveys, focus

    groups and interviews. But the drawbacks of these methods are that they can be costly and timeconsuming.

    This study develops a new method, based on a combination of standard techniques

    like sentiment analysis and normalisation, to conduct market research in a manner that is free

    and quick. The method can be used in many application-areas, but this study focuses mainly on

    the veganism market to identify vegan food preferences in the form of a profile.

    Several food words are identified, along with their distribution between positive and negative

    sentiments in the profile. Surprisingly, non-vegan foods such as cheese, cake, milk, pizza and

    chicken dominate the profile, indicating that there is a significant market for vegan-suitable

    alternatives for such foods. Meanwhile, vegan-suitable foods such as coconut, potato,

    blueberries, kale and tofu also make strong appearances in the profile.

    Validation is performed by using the method on Volkswagen vehicle data to identify positive

    and negative sentiment across five car models. Some results were found to be consistent with

    sales figures and expert reviews, while others were inconsistent. The reliability of the method

    is therefore questionable, so the results should be used with caution.

    Studien ligger inom ramen för Ljud- och musikproduktion och bygger på ett case där en varumärkesmelodi/

    musiklogotype till ett musikgymnasium ska designas. Syftet med studien är

    att utforska hur en image kan gestaltas musikaliskt och däri bättre förstå hur forskning genom

    design och användarmedverkan - påverkar och bidrar till processen inom design av narrativ

    mediemusik. Studien har ämnat svara på den övergripande frågeställningen: Hur kan komposition

    av narrativ musik beskrivas och genomföras som en designprocess? Forskningsfrågan

    innefattar även subfrågorna: Hur bidrar användarmedverkan till arbetsprocess vid design av

    narrativ mediemusik? Hur bidrar gruppsammansättning, själva processen och processverktygen

    till ett musikaliskt relevant resultat? Med formuleringen "ett musikaliskt relevant resultat"

    avses i studiens kontext en musikalisk prototyp/slutprodukt som har potential att kunna uttrycka

    känslor och värderingar som kan överensstämma med varumärkets (skolans) image

    och formulerade värderubriker. Kärnan i arbetet ligger inom fälten forskning genom design

    och användarmedverkan, där deltagarna under arbetsprocessens gång kontinuerligt och i flera

    processteg bidragit genom diskussioner, reaktioner, resonemang och konkreta förslag. Studien

    visar att designarbete inom narrativ mediamusik tillsammans med representanter för användarna/

    målgruppen kan generera fler idéer om aspekter specifika för arbete med design av narrativ

    mediemusik samt bidra till större förståelse för aktuella kontexter (målgrupps-relaterade

    och process-relaterade kontexter såväl som musikaliska och genre-relaterade kontexter), än

    om designern arbetar ensam. Av vikt är att under designprocessen ta fram flera versioner av

    prototyperna, att göra olika instrumenteringar och interpretationer av det musikaliska materialet,

    där ett av målen med prototyperna är att designer stegvis lär sig vad som fungerar - vad

    som skapar en klingande mening i den aktuella målrelaterade kontexten - och ett sätt att

    kommunicera den här kunskapen är att designa och pröva flera olika prototyper i klingade

    On the 25th of May 2018, a new data protection reform; General Data ProtectionRegulation (GDPR) will take effect and replace the current legislationpersonuppgiftslagen (1998:204). The data protection directive that was issued in1995 has not been adapted to the technological advancements we use today andneeds to be renewed in order to better protect the personal privacy.In conjunction with the new data protection reform, greater demands are made oncontrollers and processors on how they treat personal data. Organizations needs toreview how they process this data and prepare themselves for the new legislation.If they fail to meet the requirements, expensive sanction fees could possibly beincurred.This work has been performed on behalf of Sogeti and LogIt Rocks ApS. Thework has however been performed in the author’s hometowns, in an environmentunbound to the employers.The report focuses on the LogIt Rocks mobile application, where an evaluation hasbeen done on whether the application is currently compatible with GDPR or not.This was made possible by interpreting the data protection reform and analyzingsystem-specific aspects of the application In order to assess if LogIt Rockscomplied with the requirements of GDPR, and propose reasonablecountermeasures where needed.The result showed that the application in many ways was not ready for GDPR.Method development, further review, anchoring and introduction of specificrecommended functions as well as specific additions proved to be necessary inorder to complete the compatibility work with GDPR.If the proposed countermeasures is ignored, heavy sanctions may be imposedunder the terms of GDPR.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to examine if font choices affect how text and sender are perceived in the context of online banking websites. Large amounts of money are invested to produce effective design units; therefore, graphic designers need to be aware of how their font choices impact the readers’ perception of text. This study aimed to raise awareness around the impact of fonts and to create a helpful report that can guide designers in their font choices.

    Previous research on the subject argues that typography is a critical tool in visual communication, and that selecting an appropriate typeface is very important. Studies have shown how readers are aware of the difference in appropriateness between different font and text matches. Shaikh, Chaparro and Fox (2006) found serif and sans serif fonts to be the most appropriate in most situations while scripts were appropriate only for scrapbooking and e-greetings and modern display fonts were perceived as rude or coarse.

    The methods used in the present study were a Literature Study, two Focus Groups, a Quantitative Web Survey and two Visual Content Analyses. The results show that font choices do affect perception of the sender in this context. The most appropriate fonts were strict and structured, but not boring, non-decorative and had a medium x-height in relation to cap height.

    Abstract [en]

    The government's goal with the so called E-government, is to provide a simpler life for citizens, get a more open administration that supports innovation and participation, and greater quality and efficiency within government organizations. Because of these goals the authors of this study wanted to evaluate user satisfaction and efficiency on a government website. The objective of this study was to answer the question "How are the user satisfaction and efficiency, in line with the government's goal for E-government, on a government website that has been developed by following the accessibility standard WCAG 2.0 and the government’s web guidelines for usability?" In order to achieve the objective and be able to answer the question, the authors chose a government website to study. The choice fell on Centrala Studiestödsnämnden, CSN, website. The authors conducted interviews with CSN’s call center and people responsible for the website. From the interviews it became clear that the call center receive 1.4 million calls each year, and that CSN do not have any specific actions for improving usability besides continuously updating the 'Frequently Asked Questions' section. The authors conducted user tests in which people who had never used the website had to perform tasks that you usually perform at the website. During the user test the authors conducted observations and afterwards they conducted interviews. The user tests, observations, and interviews revealed that although the test subjects did not complete all the tasks and that the tasks took a long time to execute, users were not dissatisfied with their experience. The conclusion is that high satisfaction is not a product of a user’s efficiency.

    Abstract [en]

    Facebook is today the world's largest social network and is also the platform that has proved to be the most popular among students. The purpose of this study is therefore to provide an insight into how today's generation of students use Facebook in relation to their education.

    The research question addressed how students in Sweden who study the system science program and the law program have used Facebook in their education.

    A case study with a total of nine interviews were conducted. Previous research results in the same subject area and theoretical starting points provided the basis for the analysis and were analysed in relation to the interview material.

    Existing theories have been tested and interpreted in relation to the interview material.

    The result of the study provided a deeper insight into how students use Facebook and the impact the use may have. Students collaborate, exchange information and share their skills from their experiences to each other and can through interaction with their classmates on Facebook, take on informal learning which contributes to the formal education as well as it can facilitate theirs studies from home. Several of the results obtained from this study reflect and support the results of previous studies.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to investigate password strategies used by individuals creating user accounts on the internet. The study was based on a questionnaire survey, where four different target groups answered questions about their password strategies on the internet. Differences in strategies between individuals active in the field of IT/computer engineering, and individuals not active in the field, were studied. In addition, possible differences between older individuals and other target groups were investigated. Generally, the results show that there have been no major changes in password strategies over time, except that the use of password managers has increased. Strategies used by individuals active in the field of IT/computer engineering differed from those not active in the field, and it was assumed that technical interest and competence are of some importance when it comes to choosing password strategies. Among older individuals, lack of interest and unawareness was observed, leading to inadequate password strategies. The study is written in Swedish only.

    I den här uppsatsen har en undersökning gjorts på hur personer upplever ljudeffekter i surround med fokus på ett fenomen kallat Exit-Sign effekten. Tidigare idéer och riktlinjer har sagt att ljudeffekter i surroundhögtalarna kan uppfattas som distraherande om det eventuellt inte sker under vissa förutsättningar. Med utgångspunkt i vad som har skrivits i den litteratur som finns inom det här ämnet har ett lyssningtest genomförts där testgruppen fick svara på frågor i en enkät om ljudeffekter i surround och hur det upplevdes. Teorier om hur vi lyssnar, analyserar och upplever ljud har också presenterats för att försöka få en tydligare förklaring till detta fenomen. Resultatet visade att testpersonerna inte upplevde ljudeffekterna som distraherande vilket nämndes i litteraturen som fanns inom det här ämnet. Upplevelsen visar också positiva egenskaper med ljudeffekter i surround, till exempel att surroundmixen kändes mer närvarande och intressant till skillnad från den mer stereomixade filmklippet som användes i lyssningstestet.

    Treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients involves major challenges like the large within- and between-patient variability in symptom profiles and the emergence of motor complications. As PD progresses, the symptoms develop slowly and they represent a significant source of disability in advanced patients. During evaluation of treatments and symptoms, both the physician- and patient-oriented outcomes offer complementary information. In addition, quantitative assessments of symptoms using sensing technologies can potentially complement and enhance both patient and clinician perspectives. At Högskolan Dalarna, the Lecturer Mevludin Memedi has developed a telemetry system that assesses symptoms via analysis of self-assessments and motor tests to objectively measure disease-related outcomes and to improve the management of PD.

    Digital spiral analysis for objective assessment of fine motor timing variability in Parkinson's disease2015Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    OBJECTIVES: To develop a method for objective assessment of fine motor timing variability in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients, using digital spiral data gathered by a touch screen device.

    BACKGROUND: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from 105 subjects including65 patients with advanced PD (group A), 15 intermediate patients experiencing motor fluctuations (group I), 15 early stage patients (group S), and 10 healthy elderly subjects (HE) were examined. The subjects were asked to perform repeated upper limb motor tasks by tracing a pre-drawn Archimedes spiral as shown on the screen of the device. The spiral tracing test was performed using an ergonomic pen stylus, using dominant hand. The test was repeated three times per test occasion and the subjects were instructed to complete it within 10 seconds. Digital spiral data including stylus position (x-ycoordinates) and timestamps (milliseconds) were collected and used in subsequent analysis. The total number of observations with the test battery were as follows: Swedish group (n=10079), Italian I group (n=822), Italian S group (n = 811), and HE (n=299).

    METHODS: The raw spiral data were processed with three data processing methods. To quantify motor timing variability during spiral drawing tasks Approximate Entropy (APEN) method was applied on digitized spiral data. APEN is designed to capture the amount of irregularity or complexity in time series. APEN requires determination of two parameters, namely, the window size and similarity measure. In our work and after experimentation, window size was set to 4 and similarity measure to 0.2 (20% of the standard deviation of the time series). The final score obtained by APEN was normalized by total drawing completion time and used in subsequent analysis. The score generated by this method is hence on denoted APEN. In addition, two more methods were applied on digital spiral data and their scores were used in subsequent analysis. The first method was based on Digital Wavelet Transform and Principal Component Analysis and generated a score representing spiral drawing impairment. The score generated by this method is hence on denoted WAV. The second method was based on standard deviation of frequency filtered drawing velocity. The score generated by this method is hence on denoted SDDV. Linear mixed-effects (LME) models were used to evaluate mean differences of the spiral scores of the three methods across the four subject groups. Test-retest reliability of the three scores was assessed after taking mean of the three possible correlations (Spearman’s rank coefficients) between the three test trials. Internal consistency of the methods was assessed by calculating correlations between their scores.

    RESULTS: When comparing mean spiral scores between the four subject groups, the APEN scores were different between HE subjects and three patient groups (P=0.626 for S group with 9.9% mean value difference, P=0.089 for I group with 30.2%, and P=0.0019 for A group with 44.1%). However, there were no significant differences in mean scores of the other two methods, except for the WAV between the HE and A groups (P<0.001). WAV and SDDV were highly and significantly correlated to each other with a coefficient of 0.69. However, APEN was not correlated to neither WAV nor SDDV with coefficients of 0.11 and 0.12, respectively. Test-retest reliability coefficients of the three scores were as follows: APEN (0.9), WAV(0.83) and SD-DV (0.55).

    CONCLUSIONS: The results show that the digital spiral analysis-based objective APEN measure is able to significantly differentiate the healthy subjects from patients at advanced level. In contrast to the other two methods (WAV and SDDV) that are designed to quantify dyskinesias (over-medications), this method can be useful for characterizing Off symptoms in PD. The APEN was not correlated to none of the other two methods indicating that it measures a different construct of upper limb motor function in PD patients than WAV and SDDV. The APEN also had a better test-retest reliability indicating that it is more stable and consistent over time than WAV and SDDV.

    Objective quantification of Parkinson's disease upper limb motor timing variability using spirography2015Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    Objective quantification of the upper limb motor timing variability of Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients was evaluated using traces of spirals by groups of patients at different disease stages, stable (S), intermediate (I), advanced (A) and a healthy elderly (HE) group. The approximate entropy (APEN) method of quantifying motor timing variability in time series was applied to capture the amount of irregularity during the spiral drawing process. The APEN score was then normalized by total drawing completion time and used in subsequent analysis. In addition, two previously published methods (WAV and SDDV) were applied on the spiral data. Comparing subject groups’ APEN mean scores, they were found to be significantly different from HE group, for group A (P<0.001) indicating this method’s ability in distinguishing patients at advanced disease stage. Comparing the three methods’ ability to track response to advanced treatment, APEN scores were all significantly different between base-line and levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) treatment, during the 36 month study period as opposed to WAV and SDDV as they were not significantly improving for all periods. APEN scores were weakly correlated to WAV and SDDV, indicating that they measure different aspects of symptom severity.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to investigate if a telemetry test battery can be used to measure effects of Parkinson’s disease (PD) treatment intervention and disease progression in patients with fluctuations. Sixty-five patients diagnosed with advanced PD were recruited in an open longitudinal 36-month study; 35 treated with levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) and 30 were candidates for switching from oral PD treatment to LCIG. They utilized a test battery, consisting of self-assessments of symptoms and fine motor tests (tapping and spiral drawings), four times per day in their homes during week-long test periods. The repeated measurements were summarized into an overall test score (OTS) to represent the global condition of the patient during a test period. Clinical assessments included ratings on Unified PD Rating Scale (UPDRS) and 39-item PD Questionnaire (PDQ-39) scales. In LCIG-naïve patients, mean OTS compared to baseline was significantly improved from the first test period on LCIG treatment until month 24. In LCIG-non-naïve patients, there were no significant changes in mean OTS until month 36. The OTS correlated adequately with total UPDRS (rho = 0.59) and total PDQ-39 (0.59). Responsiveness measured as effect size was 0.696 and 0.536 for OTS and UPDRS respectively. The trends of the test scores were similar to the trends of clinical rating scores but dropout rate was high. Correlations between OTS and clinical rating scales were adequate indicating that the test battery contains important elements of the information of well-established scales. The responsiveness and reproducibility were better for OTS than for total UPDRS.

    Abstract [en]

    A challenge for the clinical management of advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients is the emergence of fluctuations in motor performance, which represents a significant source of disability during activities of daily living of the patients. There is a lack of objective measurement of treatment effects for in-clinic and at-home use that can provide an overview of the treatment response. The objective of this paper was to develop a method for objective quantification of advanced PD motor symptoms related to off episodes and peak dose dyskinesia, using spiral data gathered by a touch screen telemetry device. More specifically, the aim was to objectively characterize motor symptoms (bradykinesia and dyskinesia), to help in automating the process of visual interpretation of movement anomalies in spirals as rated by movement disorder specialists. Digitized upper limb movement data of 65 advanced PD patients and 10 healthy (HE) subjects were recorded as they performed spiral drawing tasks on a touch screen device in their home environment settings. Several spatiotemporal features were extracted from the time series and used as inputs to machine learning methods. The methods were validated against ratings on animated spirals scored by four movement disorder specialists who visually assessed a set of kinematic features and the motor symptom. The ability of the method to discriminate between PD patients and HE subjects and the test-retest reliability of the computed scores were also evaluated. Computed scores correlated well with mean visual ratings of individual kinematic features. The best performing classifier (Multilayer Perceptron) classified the motor symptom (bradykinesia or dyskinesia) with an accuracy of 84% and area under the receiver operating characteristics curve of 0.86 in relation to visual classifications of the raters. In addition, the method provided high discriminating power when distinguishing between PD patients and HE subjects as well as had good test-retest reliability. This study demonstrated the potential of using digital spiral analysis for objective quantification of PD-specific and/or treatment-induced motor symptoms.

    Abstract [en]

    Objective: To develop a method for objective quantification of PD motor symptoms related to Off episodes and peak dose dyskinesias, using spiral data gathered by using a touch screen telemetry device. The aim was to objectively characterize predominant motor phenotypes (bradykinesia and dyskinesia), to help in automating the process of visual interpretation of movement anomalies in spirals as rated by movement disorder specialists.

    Background: A retrospective analysis was conducted on recordings from 65 patients with advanced idiopathic PD from nine different clinics in Sweden, recruited from January 2006 until August 2010. In addition to the patient group, 10 healthy elderly subjects were recruited. Upper limb movement data were collected using a touch screen telemetry device from home environments of the subjects. Measurements with the device were performed four times per day during week-long test periods. On each test occasion, the subjects were asked to trace pre-drawn Archimedean spirals, using the dominant hand. The pre-drawn spiral was shown on the screen of the device. The spiral test was repeated three times per test occasion and they were instructed to complete it within 10 seconds. The device had a sampling rate of 10Hz and measured both position and time-stamps (in milliseconds) of the pen tip.

    Methods: Four independent raters (FB, DH, AJ and DN) used a web interface that animated the spiral drawings and allowed them to observe different kinematic features during the drawing process and to rate task performance. Initially, a number of kinematic features were assessed including ‘impairment’, ‘speed’, ‘irregularity’ and ‘hesitation’ followed by marking the predominant motor phenotype on a 3-category scale: tremor, bradykinesia and/or choreatic dyskinesia. There were only 2 test occasions for which all the four raters either classified them as tremor or could not identify the motor phenotype. Therefore, the two main motor phenotype categories were bradykinesia and dyskinesia. ‘Impairment’ was rated on a scale from 0 (no impairment) to 10 (extremely severe) whereas ‘speed’, ‘irregularity’ and ‘hesitation’ were rated on a scale from 0 (normal) to 4 (extremely severe). The proposed data-driven method consisted of the following steps. Initially, 28 spatiotemporal features were extracted from the time series signals before being presented to a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) classifier. The features were based on different kinematic quantities of spirals including radius, angle, speed and velocity with the aim of measuring the severity of involuntary symptoms and discriminate between PD-specific (bradykinesia) and/or treatment-induced symptoms (dyskinesia). A Principal Component Analysis was applied on the features to reduce their dimensions where 4 relevant principal components (PCs) were retained and used as inputs to the MLP classifier. Finally, the MLP classifier mapped these components to the corresponding visually assessed motor phenotype scores for automating the process of scoring the bradykinesia and dyskinesia in PD patients whilst they draw spirals using the touch screen device. For motor phenotype (bradykinesia vs. dyskinesia) classification, the stratified 10-fold cross validation technique was employed.

    Results: There were good agreements between the four raters when rating the individual kinematic features with intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.88 for ‘impairment’, 0.74 for ‘speed’, 0.70 for ‘irregularity’, and moderate agreements when rating ‘hesitation’ with an ICC of 0.49. When assessing the two main motor phenotype categories (bradykinesia or dyskinesia) in animated spirals the agreements between the four raters ranged from fair to moderate. There were good correlations between mean ratings of the four raters on individual kinematic features and computed scores. The MLP classifier classified the motor phenotype that is bradykinesia or dyskinesia with an accuracy of 85% in relation to visual classifications of the four movement disorder specialists. The test-retest reliability of the four PCs across the three spiral test trials was good with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients of 0.80, 0.82, 0.54 and 0.49, respectively. These results indicate that the computed scores are stable and consistent over time. Significant differences were found between the two groups (patients and healthy elderly subjects) in all the PCs, except for the PC3.

    Conclusions: The proposed method automatically assessed the severity of unwanted symptoms and could reasonably well discriminate between PD-specific and/or treatment-induced motor symptoms, in relation to visual assessments of movement disorder specialists. The objective assessments could provide a time-effect summary score that could be useful for improving decision-making during symptom evaluation of individualized treatment when the goal is to maximize functional On time for patients while minimizing their Off episodes and troublesome dyskinesias.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: A mobile device test battery, consisting of a patient diary collection section with disease-related questions and a fine motor test section (including spiral drawing tasks), was used by 65 patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (PD)(treated with intraduodenal levodopa/carbidopa gel infusion, Duodopa®, or candidates for this treatment) on 10439 test occasions in their home environments. On each occasion, patients traced three pre-drawn Archimedes spirals using an ergonomic stylus and self-assessed their motor function on a global Treatment Response Scale (TRS) ranging from -3 = very 'off' to 0 = 'on' to +3 = very dyskinetic. The spirals were processed by a computer-based method that generates a "spiral score" representing the PD-related drawing impairment. The scale for the score was based on a modified Bain & Findley rating scale in the range from 0 = no impairment to 5 = moderate impairment to 10 = extremely severe impairment. Objective: To analyze the test battery data for the purpose to find differences in spiral drawing performance of PD patients in relation to their self-assessments of motor function. Methods: Three motor states were used in the analysis; OFF state (including moderate and very 'off'), ON state ('on') and a dyskinetic (DYS) state (moderate and very dyskinetic). In order to avoid the problem of multiple test occasions per patient, 200 random samples of single test occasions per patient were drawn. One-way analysis of variance, ANOVA, test followed by Tukey multiple comparisons test was used to test if mean values of spiral test parameters, i.e. the spiral score and drawing completion times (in seconds), were different among the three motor states. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05. To investigate changes in the spiral score over the time-of-day test sessions for the three motor states, plots of statistical summaries were inspected. Results: The mean spiral score differed significantly across the three self-assessed motor states (p<0.001, ANOVA test). Tukey post-hoc comparisons indicate that the mean spiral score (mean ± SD; [95% CI for mean]) in DYS state (5.2 ± 1.8; [5.12, 5.28]) was higher than the mean spiral score in OFF (4.3 ± 1.7; [4.22, 4.37]) and ON (4.2 ± 1.7; [4.17, 4.29]) states. The mean spiral score was also significantly different among individual TRS values of slightly 'off' (4.02 ± 1.63), 'on' (4.07 ± 1.65) and slightly dyskinetic (4.6 ± 1.71), (p<0.001). There were no differences in drawing completion times among the three motor states (p=0.509). In the OFF and ON states, patients drew slightly more impaired spirals in the afternoon whereas in the DYS state the spiral drawing performance was more impaired in the morning. Conclusion: It was found that when patients considered themselves as being dyskinetic spiral drawing was more impaired (nearly one unit change in a 0-10 scale) compared to when they considered themselves as being 'off' and 'on'. The spiral drawing at patients that self-assessed their motor state as dyskinetic was slightly more impaired in the morning hours, between 8 and 12 o'clock, a situation possibly caused by the morning dose effect.

    Objective. The purpose of this study was to examine repeated measures of fine motor function in relation to self-assessed motor conditions in Parkinson's disease (PD).

    Methods. One-hundred PD patients, 65 with advanced PD and 35 patients with different disease stages have utilized a test battery in a telemedicine setting. On each test occasion, they initially self-assessed their motor condition (from ‘very off’ to ‘very dyskinetic’) and then performed a set of fine motor tests (tapping and spiral drawings).

    Results. The motor tests scores were found to be the best during self-rated On. Self-rated dyskinesias caused more impaired spiral drawing performance (mean = 9.8% worse, P < 0.001) but at the same time tapping speed was faster (mean = 5.0% increase, P < 0.001), compared to scores in self-rated Off.

    Conclusions. The fine motor tests of the test battery capture different symptoms; the spiral impairment primarily relates to dyskinesias whereas the tapping speed captures the Off symptoms.

    Background: A test battery consisting of self-assessments and motor tests (tapping and spiral drawing) was developed for a hand computer with touch screen in a telemedicine setting.

    Objectives: To develop and evaluate a web-based system that delivers decision support information to the treating clinical staff for assessing PD symptoms in their patients based on the test battery data. Methods: The test battery is currently being used in a clinical trial (DAPHNE, EudraCT No. 2005-002654-21) by sixty five patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD) on 9991 test occasions (four tests per day during in all 362 week-long test periods) at nine clinics around Sweden. Test results are sent continuously from the hand unit over a mobile net to a central computer and processed with statistical methods. They are summarized into scores for different dimensions of the symptom state and an ‘overall test score’ reflecting the overall condition of the patient during a test period. The information in the web application is organized and presented graphically in a way that the general overview of the patient performance per test period is emphasized. Focus is on the overall test score, symptom dimensions and daily summaries. In a recent preliminary user evaluation, the web application was demonstrated to the fifteen study nurses who had used the test battery in the clinical trial. At least one patient per clinic was shown.

    Results: In general, the responses from nurses were positive. They claimed that the test results shown in the system were consistent with their own clinical observations. They could follow complications, changes and trends within their patients.

    Discussion: In conclusion, the system is able to summarise the various time series of motor test results and self-assessments during test periods and present them in a useful manner. Its main contribution is a novel and reliable way to capture and easily access symptom information from patients’ home environment. The convenient access to current symptom profile as well as symptom history provides a basis for individualized evaluation and adjustment of treatments.

    Statistical bound of genetic solutions to quadratic assignment problems2015Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    Quadratic assignment problems (QAPs) are commonly solved by heuristic methods, where the optimum is sought iteratively. Heuristics are known to provide good solutions but the quality of the solutions, i.e., the confidence interval of the solution is unknown. This paper uses statistical optimum estimation techniques (SOETs) to assess the quality of Genetic algorithm solutions for QAPs. We examine the functioning of different SOETs regarding biasness, coverage rate and length of interval, and then we compare the SOET lower bound with deterministic ones. The commonly used deterministic bounds are confined to only a few algorithms. We show that, the Jackknife estimators have better performance than Weibull estimators, and when the number of heuristic solutions is as large as 100, higher order JK-estimators perform better than lower order ones. Compared with the deterministic bounds, the SOET lower bound performs significantly better than most deterministic lower bounds and is comparable with the best deterministic ones.

    Solutions to combinatorial optimization, such as p-median problems of locating facilities, frequently rely on heuristics to minimize the objective function. The minimum is sought iteratively and a criterion is needed to decide when the procedure (almost) attains it. However, pre-setting the number of iterations dominates in OR applications, which implies that the quality of the solution cannot be ascertained. In this paper we compare the methods proposed previous literate of estimating minimum, and propose some thought of it.

    On administrative borders and accessibility to public services:: The case of hospitals in Sweden.2014Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    An administrative border might hinder the optimal allocation of a given set of resources by restricting the flow of goods, services, and people. In this paper we address the question: Do administrative borders lead to poor accessibility to public service such as hospitals? In answering the question, we have examined the case of Sweden and its regional borders. We have used detailed data on the Swedish road network, its hospitals, and its geo-coded population. We have assessed the population’s spatial accessibility to Swedish hospitals by computing the inhabitants’ distance to the nearest hospital. We have also elaborated several scenarios ranging from strongly confining regional borders to no confinements of borders and recomputed the accessibility. Our findings imply that administrative borders are only marginally worsening the accessibility.

    From the road network database to a graph for localization purposes2014Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    The problems of finding best facility locations require complete and accurate road network with the corresponding population data in a specific area. However the data obtained in road network databases usually do not fit in this usage. In this paper we propose our procedure of converting the road network database to a road graph which could be used in localization problems. The road network data come from the National road data base in Sweden. The graph derived is cleaned, and reduced to a suitable level for localization problems. The population points are also processed in ordered to match with that graph. The reduction of the graph is done maintaining most of the accuracy for distance measures in the network.

    The art of moving pictures has been enjoyed by people all around the world for more than a century. During that time period celluloid film has been an industry standard for both capturing and projecting moving images onto a screen. As the world continued to progress forward into the future, the encroachment of digital into the sphere of moviemaking became a fact. My aim with this essay has been to by comparing the strengths and weaknesses of celluloid versus digital film in many different spheres (capture, projection, storage, economy etc.) establish why the American film industry still to this day uses film celluloid film. With the current trend that digital is superior to analog in all categories of discussion there must be a reason for the continued usage of celluloid stock footage.

    In my essay I have concluded that both formats have certain advantages and disadvantages to one another. Celluloid film has a specific grainy and organic look that movie viewers have grown accustomed to which gives the footage a sort of photo-realism that digital film struggles to achieve. Celluloid film also has an advantage when it comes to dynamic range and color reproduction. Shooting film with celluloid stock footage requires and tends to lead to a more disciplined working environment. Celluloid is also great and cost effective for long-term storage of master archives. The drawback with shooting on celluloid film is that it in general has a higher production cost due to stock film costing more than digital storage. Furthermore, there is no way to view the footage shot directly after the shot has been made which you are able to do with digital film. As you need to process the stock footage before being able to view the content shooting digitally makes the entire workflow less tiresome as processing and scanning of film is not needed. As a final conclusion I would state that celluloid is still used within the film industry because not all cinemas have been digitalized as of yet but primarily because more than 100 years after it was conceived it still offers great technical and economical value that as of yet is to be surpassed by digital technology. No one on the other hand can predict what the future might hold.

    Denna uppsats syfte är att undersöka produktionstekniker som används för att skapa

    elektronisk dansmusik och att analysera hur sådana verktyg och metoder används, sett

    ur en producents synvinkel. Bakgrunden till uppsatsen är en strävan efter att djupare

    förstå produktionstekniker för elektronisk dansmusik och utveckla kunskap om hur

    sådana kan användas i egen produktion av elektronisk dansmusik. Uppsatsen empiriska

    material består av två musikstyckeanalyser i genren house. De analyserade

    musikstyckena har valts ut eftersom de är aktuella, båda har producerats under 2017 och

    de innehåller olika, för elektronisk dansmusik, karaktäristiska drag. Vidare har de

    bedömts kunna bidra med förståelse för och kunskap om hur dessa musikstycken är

    producerade och varför de låter som det gör men också ökad generell kunskap om

    aktuella produktionstekniker för produktion av elektronisk dansmusik. Analysens

    resultat ger exempel på hur en producent kan tänka när hen producerar elektronisk

    dansmusik. Exemplen omfattar byggstenar för produktionen i form av tekniska verktyg

    och metoder som till exempel sampling samt vikten av hur ett musikstyckes

    arrangemang är utformat.

    Med inspelningsteknikens utveckling har det framstått ett fenomen som benämnts

    schizofoni

    för att beskriva separationen mellan ett ljuds akustiska källa och det processerade ljudet som

    återges på en inspelning. I diverse musikstilar är det numera praxis att producera och

    manipulera inspelningar till en sådan extrem grad att det inspelade ljudet inte längre

    efterliknar ljudkällan. Ett exempel på detta är processeringen av trumljud; de produceras efter

    olika konventioner inom olika musikstilar. Genom en deltagande observation och ett

    lyssningstest undersökte denna studie om det endast är trumslagare och musikproducenter

    som lägger märke till skillnaderna mellan dessa ljudideal, eller om andra lyssnargrupper också

    uppfattar när en musikstils etablerade konventioner bryts. I den deltagande observationen sågs

    tre grupper av musikproduktionsstudenter använda liknande inspelningsmetoder för att spela

    in trummor efter metalkonventioner, men endast den tredje gruppen stämde om

    virveltrumman för att efterlikna deras uppfattning av musikstilens konventioner. Dessa data

    förklarades som att schizofonins uppfattade inblandning varierar mellan producenter, samt att

    personlig preferens spelar större roll än etablerade stilkonventioner. Lyssningstestets resultat

    visade en konsensus mellan musikproducenter angående virveltrummans produktion inom

    musikstilen Metal, då de flesta deltagare föredrog den virveltrumma som var producerad efter

    metalkonventioner. Däremot var svaren på de ljudexempel inom Drum & Bass och Syntpop

    så utspridda att det inte gick att tydligt demonstrera en konsensus mellan de olika

    lyssnargrupperna. Studien ger en djupare inblick i olika lyssningsstrategier mellan olika

    grupper och avslutas med förslag på fortsatt forskning inom ämnet.

    Rapporten behandlar slumpfenomenets betydelse i musikskapandeprocesser. Syftet med

    den är att bidra till en djupare förståelse för slumpartade upptäckters betydelse för

    musikskapare under deras skapandeprocesser, såväl som slumpens värde i musiken de

    konsumerar, producerad av någon annan. Undersökningens teorier och tidigare

    forskning utgörs främst av litteratur om kreativitets- och slumpbegreppet. I och med

    undersökningen utvecklades av mig två begrepp, för att särskilja olika typer av slumper.

    Den rena slumpen, som definieras som ett tekniskt missöde eller ett misstag, och den

    framtvingade slumpen som definieras som en slump som är medvetet framkallad under

    skapandeprocessen men vars resultat är okänt tills handlingen är utförd.

    Undersökningen gick till genom en enkät vars syfte var att identifiera musikskapare, en

    fokusgrupp där dessa musikskapare sedan deltog samt en djupintervju med en

    musikskapare med erfarenhet av slumpen i sitt egna skapande. Resultatet visade att

    musikskapare värderar den rena slumpens resultat högre än den framtvingade slumpens.

    Båda typer av slump upplevs dock tillföra en önskvärd oväntad ingrediens i musik, både

    i skaparnas egna musikskapandeprocesser som i musiken som skaparna konsumerar.

    Det övergripande värdet av slumpen kommer från dess oväntade karaktär och slumpens

    inflytande i musikskapandeprocessen liknas vid det från en utomstående part, vilket kan

    upplevas som fördelaktigt för en del musikskapare. Empirin indikerar dessutom på att

    musikskapare med starka kontrollbehov mer sannolikt avfärdar slumpen i sina

    skapandeprocesser än dem med avsaknad av det. Musikskapare vars musikaliska

    arbetsmiljö innefattar arbete digitalt i DAW är även mer mottagliga för slumpen i sitt

    skapande, vilket kan tänkas bero på slumpens lättillgänglighet i denna arbetsmiljö. Det

    framkom dessutom att upptäckter från den rena slumpen ofta görs i kreativa

    sinnestillstånd, med starkt inflytande från det omedvetna, som omskrivits inom

    kreativitetsforskning. För framtida forskning vore det eventuellt relevant att utveckla de

    begrepp som kommit till i och med min undersökning. Utvecklingen skulle kunna göras

    genom att tillämpa och undersöka begreppens relevans inom andra typer av

    skapandeprocesser än musikskapande.

    Abstract [en]

    The increasing amount of available biological information on the markers can be used to inform the models applied for genomic selection to improve predictions. The objective of this study was to propose a general model for genomic selection using a link function approach within the hierarchical generalized linear model framework (hglm) that can include external information on the markers. These models can be fitted using the well-established hglm package in R. We also present an R package (CodataGS) to fit these models, which is significantly faster than the hglm package. Simulated data was used to validate the proposed model. We tested categorical, continuous and combination models where the external information on the markers was related to 1) the location of the QTLs on the genome with varying degree of uncertainty, 2) the relationship of the markers with the QTLs calculated as the LD between them, and 3) a combination of both. The proposed models showed improved accuracies from 3.8% up to 23.2% compared to the SNP-BLUP method in a simulated population derived from a base population with 100 individuals. Moreover, the proposed categorical model was tested on a dairy cattle dataset for two traits (Milk Yield and Fat Percentage). These results also showed improved accuracy compared to SNP-BLUP, especially for the Fat% trait. The performance of the proposed models depended on the genetic architecture of the trait, as traits that deviate from the infinitesimal model benefited more from the external information. Also, the gain in accuracy depended on the degree of uncertainty of the external information provided to the model. The usefulness of these type of models is expected to increase with time as more accurate information on the markers becomes available.

    I detta arbete analyseras filmmusiken, skriven av kvinnliga kompositörer, som spelas i sexscener i fyra moderna spelfilmer där USA är ett av produktionsländerna. Vassili Neplokhs analysmetod består av fem musikaliska parametrar. Författaren sammanställer även forskning som berör ämnet inom bland annat musikpsykologi och utökar en redan fungerande metod med fler parametrar som grundar sig i musikpsykologi. Avslutningsvis jämförs studiens resultat med resultat av en tidigare utförd undersökning av manliga kompositörers filmmusik i sexscener.

    This survey is conducted in collaboration with Café Forsnäs. The purpose of the

    survey was to find out how the visual identity of Café Forsnäs work integration

    social enterprise should look to convey their value and vision, humanity.

    The study starts with a semi-structured interview with Café Forsnäs for a deeper

    insight into the company's value and vision. A visual observation was performed

    with the purpose of gaining an overview of how other work integration social

    enterprises choose to profile themselves. A semi-structured interview was

    conducted with an already established company with social goals with the

    purpose of finding out how other social enterprises look at their visual identity.

    A further semi-structured interview was conducted with employees in a

    company with social goals. The purpose was to find out if the visual expression

    of a company was a decisive factor in the search for an internship or workplace.

    A survey was conducted with the aim of exploring how Café Forsnäs vision was

    best served: a charitable, organic café in the country. Based on the survey,

    design work began in close cooperation with the client.

    From the survey it has been found that companies with social goals usually do

    not prioritize their visual identity. It also emerged that it is very important for a

    work integration social enterprise to appear structured and serious towards

    authorities and partners. Research shows that a clear visual identity contributes

    to a serious impression and the conclusion that can be drawn is that a work

    integration social enterprise should therefore have a visual identity that clearly

    communicates the company's vision.

    The visual identity was created on the basis of the visual sentiment of the

    questionnaire and on the basis of discussions with the client.

    Den här uppsatsen undersöker hur filmfotografens yrkesroll och kreativitet påverkas av valet

    av teknik. Trots att det snart gått 20 år sedan digitala kameror började användas i

    filmproduktioner används än idag analoga kameror i stor utsträckning. Kameran är

    fotografens viktigaste verktyg och den här uppsatsen belyser skillnader i arbetsprocessen med

    analog och digital film samt hur detta påverkar filmfotografens kreativa process. Vi har

    genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra filmfotografer som har arbetat med både analog och

    digital film och med hjälp av dessa genomfört en diskursanalys. Resultatet visar att det finns

    skillnader i arbetet med analog och digital teknik. Det finns dock lika mycket för- som

    nackdelar med de båda teknikerna och de lämpar sig bäst i olika typer av produktioner. Det

    går inte att säga att fotografen kan vara mer eller mindre kreativ beroende på vilken teknik

    som används. Teknikvalet påverkar fotografen främst i det tekniska arbetet men

    nödvändigtvis inte i den kreativa processen.
