    Abstract [en]

    Sports are becoming more technologically advanced and thus become more dependent on information technology (IT) than before. In consequence of IT solutions being implemented in sports, this has allowed the information that was not previously accessible to the common to be available in mobile devices, as much of the public now holds. As the people who are on site at motor sport events now can have their own portable / mobile devices. Services which convey information such as real-time communication can be offered to the end user without the latter being bound to a specific location.

    The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the services used in motorsports -related mobile applications to enhance the experience for sponsors attending racing events and to describe how these can be implemented in an IT solution where we limited ourselves to only describe the service that conveys real-time communication between the driver and race team to end users.

    The study results are based on an analysis of existing mobile applications and their services in the field of motor sports where we have limited ourselves to analyzing the main motor sports by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) together with interviews with developers, sponsors and race teams.

    This is explained in terms of two models, a conceptual model where the overall perspective of how to convey real-time communication is described from source to end-users as well as an architectural model where the architectural layers are described.

    Abstract [en]

    The importance of getting the right IT-tools for a company is big. Having a user-centered design when getting the right IT-tools is becoming more and more relevant when it’s important to understand what the end-user really wants. By having an observation of how users use the existing IT-tools and subsequently interviewed regarding perceived shortcomings and lack of functionality, I have been able to familiarize myself with the situation in which partner is located. Based on the interviews, the requirements of the users have been compiled and, with the help of these, I have been able to present recommendations on IT-tools on the market that match the requirements. The result of the work reflects my research questions, where I want to develop the requirements of users and to propose new IT-tools already available on the market based on these requirements.

    Banverket är den myndighet som har ansvaret för järnvägstransportsystemet i Sverige och är en producent av järnvägsinformation. En stor del av infrastrukturinformationen lagras i baninformationssystemet BIS och Banverket är förpliktad att tillhandahålla den. I nuläget är informationen åtkomlig på ett lätt sätt främst internt. Dessutom ställer dagens samhälle krav på att informationen ska levereras enligt standard. Standardiseringsorgan har tagit fram standarder för geografisk information som svar på behovet att återanvända och samutnyttja geografiska data. Vårt examensarbete är genomfört på Banverket Verksamhetsstöds IT-avdelning och var inriktat på att kartlägga standarder för geografisk information och utveckla en webbtjänst för BIS för att öka tillgängligheten till informationen. Rapportens kunskapsbidrag är en analys av standarder för geografisk information som är relevanta för järnvägsnätet. Resultatet har framställts genom en reflexiv analysmetod med abduktion som angreppssätt och kvalitativa datainsamlingsmetoder. Som en praktisk del i vårt examensarbete har vi utvecklat en webbtjänst som tillhandahåller funktionalitet för att nå data i BIS om nätanknutna företeelser och ett ramverk för att omstrukturera BIS interna format i enlighet med standarder. Vi föreslår att Banverket följer de svenska tillämpningsstandarderna SS 63 70 04, SS 63 70 06 och SS 63 70 07. Enligt vårt förslag ska Banverket vidta följande åtgärder för att leverera grundläggande data om järnvägsnät och nätanknutna företeelser enligt dessa standarder: • Analys av informationsbehov utifrån nya verklighets- och verksamhetskrav. • Dokumentation av begreppsmodell och publicering av objekttypskatalog. • Kvalitetssäkring av informationen i BIS. • Datainsamling av koordinater på noder och geometrier på länkar. • Utveckling av ny datamodell för BIS som stödjer tidsaspekter. • Översyn av BIS arkitektur och design. • Uppgradering av utvecklingsplattform. • Utveckling av transformeringar för omstrukturering av rapportresultat från BIS interna format till standarder. • Komplettering av webbtjänsten med metoder för att leverera metadata. Användaren behöver metadata för att kunna välja objekttyper, attribut och urvalskriterier när rapportbeställningar skapas. • Komplettering av webbtjänsten med metoder för att leverera information om järnvägsnätets infrastruktur.

    Abstract [en]

    Most people have someone near that has been affected by cancer and this disease cases, has according to the Swedish National Board of Health and the Cancer foundation (2013) increased over the years. The occupational group who diagnose this disease is Pathologists. The shortage of pathologists is today crucial, which leads to a need to find effective solutions to meet this shortage and an increasing amount of patients. To digitizing tissue samples, it is scanned with a glass scanner. These digital image files can then be displayed in an image viewer and distributed digitally  between pathologists remotely. This concept is called telepathology.

    The study is based on following research questions:

    • What requirements are essential and should be part of an evaluation for image viewing applications designed for diagnostics in telepathology?
    • Which image viewer is most suitable to be implemented in a web-based system based on these essential requirements?

    The purpose of this study is to examine which requirements that are essential and should be included in an evaluation of the image viewer designed for diagnostics in telepathology, and to carry out an evaluation of a selection of image viewing software with these requirements.

    A case study was conducted with data collection methods: interviews with two people from the partner CGM,questionnaires where Sweden's pathologists were respondents and document studies to collect information regarding image viewing software. The study applies some selected parts from Anders G. Nilssons SIV-method approach to collect requirements and to make a selection of image viewers which can be evaluated against these requirements.

    The results from the data collection methods were analyzed and resulted in a requirements document with the essential requirements. Three so called decisive factors among these requirements was that the image viewer must be web-based without installation on the client, functions for zoom in- and out and panning must also be available. The evaluation of selected image viewers showed in the end that OpenSlide was most suitable to be implemented in a web-based system.

Arbetet med utvecklingen har följt Banverket Datas egen metod för systemutveckling och arbetet med förstudierna har använt kvalitativ och kvantitativ metod. Dessutom beskriver rapporten även kravspecifikationer mer ingående.

    Syftet med projektet var att tillverka en webbaserad kartvisningstjänst för att visualisera geografiska och infrastrukturella förändringar över tiden. Detta genom att historiska och dagsaktuella kartor överlappas och presenteras som en bild. Applikationen utvecklades i ASP.NET med programspråket Visual Basic. Som databashanterare användes Microsoft SQL-server 2000. För bearbetning av kartmaterialet användes Arcview 8. Som utvecklingsmetod användes David Siegels modell för att konstruera webbplatser. Rapporten tar upp Ben Schniedermans principer för att skapa användarvänliga webbapplikationer. Examensarbetet genomfördes våren 2004 vid Högskolan Dalarna, campus Framtidsdalen, Borlänge.

    Requirements gathering is done before system development to identify the needs and desired effects with the system. A problem for many systems is that the choice of technology is influenced too much by the techniques available in the company and in many cases is predetermined, instead of being based on the needs and demands of the system. Impact mapping is a method that can be used for requirements gathering, but the method does not focus on technical features. Since technology often is predetermined, it must be taken into consideration during requirements gathering. The question is therefore how to use impact mapping as a support in the choice of technology.

    The purpose of this study has been to evaluate the method impact mapping using the method MA/SIMM, to develop a suggestion on how the method should be used as a support in selecting the technology of application type and CMS to achieve the desired effects in the development of a mobile intranet.

    The study is based on two research questions:

     How should impact mapping be used as a support in selecting the technology for application type and CMS for a mobile intranet?

     What factors should be considered when selecting the technology of application type and CMS to achieve the desired effects in the development of a mobile intranet?

    Literature studies and interviews have been conducted to identify factors. The result of which factors that should be considered when selecting the technology is a list of 13 factors that, roughly, can be divided into factors for application type and factors for CMS.

    The method impact mapping has been analyzed from a theoretical and a situational perspective. The result of the method analysis shows that developers should be involved earlier in the process, methods to ensure that unspoken requirements are documented should be used and three changes in the notation for the impact map is needed for impact mapping to be a support for the choice of technique.

    Banverket kan, genom att göra förändringar av verkets systemarkitektur, skapa ett bättre ramverk för system- och tjänsteutveckling inom området för ITS. Detta kan ske genom att lagra och tillgängliggöra järnvägsrelaterad information enligt en enhetlig struktur i ett format som gör det möjligt att utbyta information med andra infrastrukturverk samt aktörer inom transportsektorn. En sådan lagring och ett tillgängliggörande av data förutsätter att alla inblandade parter kommit överens om att använda samma struktur för beskrivning av infrastrukturen. I rapporten föreslås att en nationell järnvägsdatabas upprättas, där informationen lagras med en struktur som följer svensk standard för väg- och järnvägsinformation SS637004 och med kända förhållanden mellan topologi och geometri. Information i databasen föreslås göras tillgänglig för alla i samhället. Information om järnvägen och annan infrastruktur definieras i rapporten som mjuk infrastruktur och är en av de grundläggande förutsättningarna för ITS. Genom att göra föreslagna förändringar blir Banverkets information en del av Sveriges mjuka infrastruktur och kommer på så sätt att skapa ett ramverk för system- och tjänsteutveckling inom området för ITS, till exempel för intermodala transporter.

    Abstract [en]

    The term "Internet of Things" refers to when an object from the real world becomes a part of the internet. Tunabyggen in Borlänge plans to implement an information system that will monitor temperature and humidity in selected facilities using a constant internet connection and different sensors. It is a simple system that doesn't seem to have a major impact on the current operations. The economic effects is often possible to calculate in advance, but the impact on staff, environment and routines may be forgotten.

    We have with this thesis examined the initial effects that may occur after the implementation of a new information system with Internet of Things functionality in a business, within the categories of economy, working environment, environmental impact and system management.

    To answer this we made a case study which is based on a scenario methodology that consists of four phases. Phase 1, where we got our case and created an understanding of the scenario field. Phase 2, identifying the key factors. It has been done through a literature study and interviews with relevant staff on Tunabyggen. Phase 3, where the analysis of these key factors were made through the situation and future analysis. Phase 4, where we generate scenarios of the analyzed key factors. Finally we have done a SWOT analysis to highlight the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

    The results clearly show signs that there will be many effects for Tunabyggen after the implementation of the new information system, which manifests itself in all categories. The conclusion is that even the implementation of a menial information system like this one, the impacts are many. This is something that we believe should be considered by all companies that are thinking of acquiring a new system so they do not only evaluate IT-systems in economic terms, but also other factors that play a crucial role for the implementation of an information system to be successful.

    Molntjänster har blivit ett intressant fenomen i IT-världen. Molntjänster har skapat möjligheter för företag och individer att effektivisera sin verksamhet för en minimal avgift istället för att driftsätta egna servrar. Detta blir möjligt genom att erbjuda flera olika tjänster på varierande distributionsmodeller. Till följd av detta fenomen förekommer serviceförfrågningar av molntjänster kontinuerligt bland svenska privata företag och myndigheter. De privata företagen har ingen skyldighet att följa lagar som begränsar dem från att använda molntjänster, i motsats till krisberedskapsmyndigheterna och deras utvecklings- och testverksamhet. Detta examensarbete kommer fokusera på att analysera de möjligheter som finns för svenska krisberedskapsmyndigheters och deras utvecklings- och testverksamheter att använda molntjänster

    Examensarbetet genomfördes som en kvalitativ studie med hjälp av intervjuer och litteraturstudier som datainsamlingsmetoder. Intervjuerna genomfördes på anställda i en krisberedskapsmyndighet för att ge en bild av hur dessa anställda med varierande befattningar tolkar molntjänster samt dess för- och nackdelar. Litteraturstudien användes för att spegla andra nationers synpunkter på molntjänster i myndigheter, samt vilka svenska lagar och regelverk som kan förhindra molntjänster i en krisberedskapsmyndighet.

    Resultatet av examensarbetet visade att det existerar möjligheter för användning av molntjänster i en krisberedskapsmyndighet. Detta görs möjligt genom att analysera informationen som skall distribueras på en molntjänst.

    Denna artikel visar på en metod för att undersöka hur optimal befolkningens fysiska tillgänglighet till sjukvården är. Detta är relevant med tanke på den svenska storregionala omdaningen som säkerligen kommer provocera fram omprövningar av sjukhusens framtida placering.

    Med Dalarna som exempel fann vi att en ökning från dagens två till tre optimalt lokaliserade sjukhus skulle minska befolkningens genomsnittliga reseavstånd med 25 %.

    På basis av transportsektorns standardkalkyler för samhällsekonomisk effekter vid resande, samt av kostnader för drift av sjukvård sluter vi dessutom oss till att en komplettering av nuvarande två sjukhus i Dalarna med ett tredje vore samhällsekonomiskt effektivt.

    Measuring CO2 emissions induced by online and brick-and-mortar retailing2014Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    We develop a method for empirically measuring the difference in carbon footprint between traditional and online retailing (“e-tailing”) from entry point to a geographical area to consumer residence. The method only requires data on the locations of brick-and-mortar stores, online delivery points, and residences of the region’s population, and on the goods transportation networks in the studied region. Such data are readily available in most countries, so the method is not country or region specific. The method has been evaluated using data from the Dalecarlia region in Sweden, and is shown to be robust to all assumptions made. In our empirical example, the results indicate that the average distance from consumer residence to a brick-and-mortar retailer is 48.54 km in the studied region, while the average distance to an online delivery point is 6.7 km. The results also indicate that e-tailing increases the average distance traveled from the regional entry point to the delivery point from 47.15 km for a brick-and-mortar store to 122.75 km for the online delivery points. However, as professional carriers transport the products in bulk to stores or online delivery points, which is more efficient than consumers’ transporting the products to their residences, the results indicate that consumers switching from traditional to e-tailing on average reduce their CO2 footprints by 84% when buying standard consumer electronics products.

    Abstract [en]

    The p-median model is used to locate P facilities to serve a geographically distributed population. Conventionally, it is assumed that the population patronize the nearest facility and that the distance between the resident and the facility may be measured by the Euclidean distance. Carling, Han, and Håkansson (2012) compared two network distances with the Euclidean in a rural region with a sparse, heterogeneous network and a non-symmetric distribution of the population. For a coarse network and P small, they found, in contrast to the literature, the Euclidean distance to be problematic. In this paper we extend their work by use of a refined network and study systematically the case when P is of varying size (1-100 facilities). We find that the network distance give as good a solution as the travel-time network. The Euclidean distance gives solutions some 4-10 per cent worse than the network distances, and the solutions tend to deteriorate with increasing P. Our conclusions extend to intra-urban location problems.

    Abstract [en]

    Regarding the location of a facility, the presumption in the widely used p-median model is that the customer opts for the shortest route to the nearest facility. However, this assumption is problematic on free markets since the customer is presumed to gravitate to a facility by the distance to and the attractiveness of it. The recently introduced gravity p-median model offers an extension to the p-median model that account for this. The model is therefore potentially interesting, although it has not yet been implemented and tested empirically. In this paper, we have implemented the model in an empirical problem of locating vehicle inspections, locksmiths, and retail stores of vehicle spare-parts for the purpose of investigating its superiority to the p-median model. We found, however, the gravity p-median model to be of limited use for the problem of locating facilities as it either gives solutions similar to the p-median model, or it gives unstable solutions due to a non-concave objective function.

    The effects of taxing truck distance on CO2 emissions from transports in retailing2015Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    To finance transportation infrastructure and to address social and environmental negative externalities of road transports, several countries have recently introduced or consider a distance based tax on trucks. In the competitive retail market such tax can be expected to lower the demand and thereby reduce CO2 emissions of road transports. However, as we show in this paper, such tax might also slow down the transition towards e-tailing. Considering that previous research indicates that a consumer switching from brick-and-mortar shopping to e-tailing reduces her CO2 emissions substantially, the direction and magnitude of the environmental net effect of the tax is unclear. In this paper, we assess the net effect in a Swedish regional retail market where the tax not yet is in place. We predict the net effect on CO2 emissions to be positive, but off-set by about 50% because of a slower transition to e-tailing.

    Att kunna erbjuda en bra service till sina kunder är en viktig överlevnadsfaktor för många företag. Detta är också viktigt för ABB. Att kunna leverera den sista versionen av sina produkter och hålla sina kunder uppdaterade, är en viktig prioritet för ABB. Programmet Tie-in är ett motståndsberäkningsprogram som ABB levererar till sina kunder på en CD-skiva. ABB vill förenkla underhållet av programmet och samtidigt försäkra sig om att deras kunder har den senaste versionen. En Webbapplikation vore det idealiska i detta fall. Vi fick uppgiften under vårt examensarbete att utifrån en befintlig Windowsapplikation utveckla en Webbapplikation åt ABB Power Technologies. Denna rapport undersöker om det går att konvertera en Windowsapplikation, som är skriven i Visual Basic 6, till en Visual Basic.NET baserad Webbapplikation, utan funktion- och designförluster. Arbetet har genomförts empiriskt under utvecklingen av Webbapplikationen och med hjälp av Siegels webbutvecklingsmodell. Resultatet blev att vi lärde oss att direkt konvertering med hjälp av Visual Studios inbyggda konverteringsverktyg medför en del problem. Därför kan det vara bra att bygga om den befintliga applikationen från början med hjälp av Visual Basic.NET.

    Det satsas allt mer på mobiltelefontjänster idag och snabbt växande är sådana tjänster som involverar SMS. Högskolans Bibliotek på Campus Borlänge har ett intresse av att kunna erbjuda sina låntagare en påminnelsetjänst för försenade eller reserverade böcker. Vi fick i uppgift att under vårt examensarbete ta fram en prototyp av en SMS-tjänst åt biblioteket. Den skall påminna låntagare om att en bok är försenad och/eller att en reserverad bok har inkommit. Denna tjänst skall hjälpa biblioteket att nå ut med informationen till låntagaren via ett SMS till mobiltelefonen. Denna rapport är en undersökning av vilka delkomponenter i David Siegels modell som anses lämpade respektive inte lämpade för utveckling av ny funktionalitet som innefattar SMS till en befintlig webbplats. En förklaring finns varför vissa är lämpade och andra inte. I rapporten förklaras också att SMS-funktionen är en IT-tjänst, närmare bestämt en SMS-tjänst. Tjänsten utvecklas utifrån David Siegels modell och genom en prövning mot empirin har vi kommit fram till vilka delkomponenter som är lämpliga respektive inte lämpliga för utveckling av en SMS- tjänst. Vid utvecklingen av denna SMS-tjänst fungerade Siegels modell tillfredsställande. Om man använder de dokument vi anser vara viktiga för denna typ av utveckling kan vi rekommendera denna modell för framtida tilläggstjänster som innefattar SMS.

    The annual cost of home care services of transport in Falun/Borlänge, is now at 31 million kronor. It is clear from previous research that it is possible to reduce these costs through a restructuring of the existing home-help service. The restructuring aims to have a higher proportion of older people, who are in need of care, to live in special accommodation, in order to reduce transport costs. Therefore there is a need for systems that allow home-help service to plan their operations in such a way that transport is working as efficiently as possible. Through better planning, there are profits to be done. The rewards are not only of an economic nature but also include a reduced environmental impact, better working environment, improving road safety, and better service. One way to achieve this is to give home-help service personnel better navigation aid when they move between the customers. The thesis describes such a solution through a developed prototype based on a standardized interaction between a planning and a navigation service. Development work has also been a first step in developing a standardized information infrastructure for home-help service. The purpose of the thesis is, on the basis of theory and the experience we have acquired through the development of the prototype, to discuss general issues which are of interest when developing standardized information infrastructure.

    Speech recognition is a technology still under development and the main reason is that human language is a complex phenomenon. With the development and progress in the AI-field, speech recognition has reached new heights. Previous research in this field has shown that some speech recognition softwares have achieved a 0.5 % margin of error. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the sound environment at a train control center affects the quality of speech to text transcription and the pros and cons of using this technology in a train control center. This study is a descriptive case study with an experiment in which the data has been generated by interviews, observations as well as collected documents. The results from the study were that the operating environment affected the speech to text transcription in a negative way. The pros which emerged were that speech to text enables transcription in real-time as well as the possibility to digitize information. The cons were user acceptance, finding speech recognition applications and the noisy environment at the train control center.

    Application monitoring is a term for real-time monitoring of applications to be able to discover faults before they reach the end-user. Application monitoring does not only mean the individual software but also everything surrounding it, which can have an impact on the application. Trafikverket wishes to deliver high quality in their applications. At present the developers have no or little insight in how an application delivers in a live environment after they handed over the responsibility to the operations. In order to maintain a good quality of their applications they want to explore how application monitoring may help to see changes in the needs of applications before major problems occur. In a case study consisting of interviews and document studies and through situation based FA/SIMM present ways of working will be produced. It will also identify wishes/concerns expressed by the developers and operations departments in the managing of existent applications. These will then be analyzed to examine in which way application monitoring would help developers, but also operations, in their work. The result shows that the problems which are brought forward are in a sense organizational of nature and that DevOps is a possible way for solution. But also that application monitoring could contribute to the delivery of high quality in applications in a proactive manor.

    Detta examensarbete har utförts på SSAB- Tunnplåt i Borlänge under vårterminen 2004 och omfattar 10 veckors arbete. SSAB sköter idag sin kommunikation med distributionslagren via fax, telefon eller e-post. Eftersom detta är ett ganska tidskrävande kommunikationssätt, vill SSAB ha en smidigare och snabbare kommunikationslösning. Den lösning som SSAB vill ha är en extern Web-service-lösning för att upprätta en säker kommunikation med sina distributionslager. Parallellt med byggandet av Web-service-lösningen arbetades en förvaltningsmodell fram. Den beskriver hur förvaltningsorganisationen med dess rutiner kan se ut vid implementering av lösningen. För att skapa en säker förbindelse med Web-servicen skall en webbklient användas som i sin tur anropar en COM+ komponent. Detta för att kunna skicka med certifikatet ifrån webbklienten till webbservern där Web-servicen ligger. COM+ komponenten måste få tillgång till en användarprofil när den kommunicerar med Web-servicen. Detta för att kunna upprätta en SSL-förbindelse i det inledande skedet. SSL-förbindelsen skall läggas i den VPN-tunnel som mVPN tillhandahåller via WSSAL.

    When system development is based on traditional development methods, a gap

    between development and operation occurs. DevOps is a clipped compound of

    Development and Operation and is a software engineering practice designed to

    reduce the gap between development and operation. DevOps combined with one

    of the most important phases of system development, which is the test phase,

    makes it interesting to explore what changes a traditional tester is facing when

    transitioning to DevOps.

    The purpose of this study is to describe how an IT consulting company applies

    DevOps and also gain an understanding of what role the profession testers have in

    DevOps.

    The study is based on the following questions:

    - How does an IT consulting company work with DevOps?

    - What role does the profession testers have in DevOps?

    In order to respond to this, this study has been conducted where the research

    strategy case study has been applied. The specific case in the study is to focus on

    the IT consulting company Sogeti and their enforcement of DevOps. Interviews

    and document studies have been used to collect data. A literature study has also

    been made to get an overview of previous studies in the field. The results of the

    survey contribute knowledge of DevOps and what role the profession testers have

    in DevOps. The result indicates that DevOps is an enforcement focusing on

    cooperation and communication between multidisciplinary teams and a drive to

    automate more in order to frequently deliver software. Isolated skills in testing is

    seen as a challenge and limitation, DevOps advocates not only multidisciplinary

    teams but also multidisciplinary knowledge.

    Business development or renovation is to introduce newer, more efficient routines and processes through redesign or re-engineering of businesses, which form a set of business patterns. Business patterns encapsulate the best solutions for business practices and tasks confirming business strategies of the enterprise. Nowadays, services with SOA (Service oriented-Architecture) become more and more important in implementing and supporting business routines and processes. An enterprise that can encapsulate their SOA solutions into patterns will make the business more agile and effective. However, with the SOA solutions to automation of locating relevant instance services for its business patterns with minimum human intervention, one has to look into the semantic and operational difference between the description of a business pattern and that of an instance service - a gap between the two levels of descriptions. In this paper, the authors introduce a conceptual modelling method to address how to bridge the gap, by a semantic service description for usage contextual approach formalized with the conceptual graphs formalism. Most importantly, they evaluate this model in this paper to study its usability in practice.

    To tackle the semantic issues of web services, we proposed a comprehensive semantic service description framework – CbSSDF – and a two-step service discovery mechanism based on CbSSDF to help service users to easily locate their required services. In this chapter, we evaluate the framework by comparing it with OWL-S to examine how the proposed framework can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service discovery and composition. The evaluation is done through analysing the different solutions proposed based on these two frameworks for achieving a series of tasks in a scenario.

    Denna examensrapport på magisternivå genomfördes under våren 2004, hos AB Borlänge Energi. Borlänge Energis servicetekniker behövde ett hjälpmedel för att effektivisera deras arbetsuppgifter. Tidigare sparades driftjournaler för varje servicekund lokalt hos kunden. Serviceteknikern behövde också åka tillbaka till huvudkontoret för att slutföra ett uppdrag. Borlänge Energi hade inte heller någon möjlighet att föra statistik över servicekunderna då alla driftjournaler sparades hos servicekunden. Vi utvecklade en prototyp av ett inrapporteringsverktyg för en handdator. I detta verktyg får serviceteknikern tillgång till all relevant information gällande serviceuppdraget. Efter slutfört uppdrag skickas driftjournalen in till en databas hos Borlänge Energi, samtidigt skickas ett email till servicekunden att serviceuppdraget är utfört. Utöver målet utredde vi nyttan med applicering av mobil enhet i organisationen. Borlänge Energi vill med detta veta om arbetet blev effektivare, samt om arbetsrutinerna förändrades. Resultatet vi kom fram till var att arbetet effektiviseras med användning av prototypen. Viktiga faktorer för att få serviceteknikern att använda prototypen var användarvänlighet samt förändring av arbetsrutiner.

    Detta examensarbete genomfördes på ABB Power Technologies AB i Ludvika. ABB vill överbrygga gapet mellan industri och informationsteknologi för att få de båda delarna att arbeta integrerat. ABB kallar detta koncept för Industrial IT (IIT). Ett krav från koncernledningen är att alla produkter ska vara certifierade enligt nivå 0, som är det första steget i IIT: s certifieringsprocess. Målet var att utföra en kravspecifikation på ett system som ska kunna leverera certifierad produktinformation enligt IIT-standard. Målet var även att, med kravspecifikationen som underlag, ge förslag på en lösning för att ABB ska kunna skapa och bifoga denna produktinformation till sina kunder. Det akademiska syftet var att beskriva hur man kan gå till väga för att certifiera produktinformationen enligt IIT nivå 0 på en produkt i ABB: s verksamhet. Syftet var även att öka förståelsen för IIT-konceptet. Genom hela arbetet har Gatemodellen använts. Denna projektstyrningsmodell är framtagen speciellt för informationssystem-projekt inom ABB och alla projekt som utförs inom ABB ska följa den. För att uppfylla målet med en utförd kravspecifikation har relevanta delar ur Directmodellen använts. För att få information om hur verksamheten fungerar och få insikt i problematiken har intervjuer genomförts som grundar sig på litteraturstudier. Vi föreslår att ett tidigare utgivet system vid namn Aspect Object Builder (AOB) används som grund i det här projektet. AOB: n har använts i liknande projekt inom ABB och fungerat bra. Det finns ingen standardkoppling mellan AOB: n och de system där produktinformationen finns eftersom det finns så många olika typer av filservrar, PDM- och ERP-system, där informationen lagras. Därför måste ett unikt gränssnitt göras för just detta projekt, som hjälper AOB: n att samla in data. Ett förslag till ett gränssnitt presenteras i uppsatsen.

    Att utreda möjligheterna att etablera dataförsörjning riktade mot multimodala transporttjänster är idag av största intresse. Det är också intressant att försöka utnyttja de standarder som tagits fram när en dataförsörjningskedja ska etableras. Detta examensarbete genomfördes på Triona AB i Borlänge. Triona har utvecklat databasen Transport Network Engine (TNE), som idag används för att läsa in data från Nationella VägDataBasen (NVDB) och från skogsnäringen. Målet med arbetet var att ta fram en informationsmodell, som beskriver hur ett transportnät med nätanknutna data, som stödjer multimodala transporter och resor, kan lagras i TNE. En förlängning av målet blev att, utifrån ett givet användarfall, etablera dataförsörjning till TNE och lägga in de nödvändiga datamängderna. TNE bygger på ESRI:s produkter och funktionalitet för hantering av geografisk information och informationsmodell och datahantering i TNE baseras på internationella och svenska standarder. Idag finns all information om järnvägsnätet hos Banverket och det finns ingen koppling mellan Banverkets databas Baninformationssystemet (BIS) och Vägverkets databas NVDB. För att den kopplingen ska kunna ske, krävs att de båda verken kan samarbeta som två stora organisationer i ett väl fungerande nätverk. Ett så kallat interorganisatoriskt nätverk. Det akademiska syftet var att föreslå en arkitekturstrategi som stödjer ett sådant nätverk. Vi upptäckte att arkitekturstrategierna IRM och VBS är uppbyggda för att inrikta sig på enskilda organisationer, och det visade sig svårt att följa en specifik strategi inom ett nätverk med flera organisationer. I vårt användarfall måste nätverket mellan Banverket, Vägverket och Stora Enso samarbeta över organisationsgränserna. Därför behövs en strategi för ett interorganisatoriskt samarbete så att informationen kan struktureras på ett gemensamt sätt. Vi föreslår ett antal idealtypskriterier som vi utgått efter i struktureringen av systemarkitekturen. Den innehåller en informationsmodell för både väg- och järnvägsdata som följer standarden SS 63 70 04. Arbetet avgränsades till att endast innehålla de datamängder som användarfallet kräver. Vi har analyserat KombiTIF-rapporten som är ett avslutat projekt styrt av Banverket på uppdrag av Näringsdepartementet. Rapporten ger ett förslag på en lösning i form av en arena som ska göra data tillgänglig för användning. Vi väljer att se TNE-plattformen som en realisering av denna arena. Enligt vårt förslg så ska TNE-plattformen hämta in det mest grundläggande datat om järnvägsnät och nätanknuten data från BIS och standardiserad information om vägnät och nätanknuten data från NVDB via ett gränssnitt. I framtiden är det möjligt att på samma sätt ta in andra trafiknät såsom Sjöfartsverket, Luftfartsverket och Rikstrafiken. Vi arbetade efter en egen metod som vi tog fram med valda delar från andra metoder; kartläggning, perspektivanalys, verksamhetsanalys, utveckling och utvärdering. Arbetet genomfördes iterativt i de fem olika faserna.

    Utvärdering av Elektronisk fakturahantering inom Banverket2004Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Vår uppdragsgivare Banverket efterfrågade en utvärdering av elektronisk fakturahantering(EFH) vid Banverket som infördes för cirka två år sedan. Det finns några olika verktyg för EFH, skanning av pappersfakturor är ett av de verktygen som Banverket använder för att hantera pappersfakturor från olika leverantörer. Vårt mål med uppsatsen var att analysera vilken effekt användningen av EFH får för Banverket. I vår analys studerades effekter av det införda systemet för elektronisk fakturahantering. Uppsatsen har gjorts med hjälp av en kvalitativ undersöknings metod, analysmetoden FA/SIM samt litteraturstudier inom ämnet. Vi har intervjuat personal vid Banverket Produktion och Banregioner i Malmö samt Stockholm. Vi har även intervjuat personal vid HK, Projektering och Telenät i Borlänge. Efter vår analys har vi kommit fram till att det finns stora ekonomiska vinster med elektronisk fakturahantering, men även vinster som inte är direkt mätbara. De viktigaste effekterna är att inga fakturor kommer bort efter de har skannats in och systemet har hela tiden reda på var i flödet fakturan befinner sig, det vill säga bättre kontroll har vunnits. Genom införandet av EFH har flera arbetsmoment försvunnit eller automatiserats och hanteringen av fakturor har förenklats, vilket bidrar till mindre kostnader för hantering av fakturor. Med EFH behöver användarna inte ta kopior av fakturor eftersom de hela tiden finns i systemet. När det gäller minskad dröjsmålsränta har vi kommit fram till att Banverket bör ha minskat kostnaderna för dröjsmålsränta.

    Ruttoptimering för sophämtningsverksamhet: anpassning av systemarkitektur till ett ruttplaneringssystem2005Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis

    Renhållningen är den avdelning inom Falu Energi & Vatten som ansvarar för tömning av allt hushållsavfall i Falu kommun. Renhållningen har infört ett nytt insamlingssystem för komposterbart avfall i papperspåse vilket krävde ett extra kärl, anpassat för ändamålet. Den stora mängden extra kärl innebar att personalen inte hann med att tömma allt avfall inom ordinarie arbetstid. En övergripande omdimensionering har gjorts av SWECO VIAK och SWECO Position. Examensarbetet syftar till att utreda förutsättningar för införande av system för ruttoptimering av sophämtning och även att ge förslag till hur positionering av hämtställen ska kunna genomföras. En verksamhetsanalys och en informationsbehovsanalys har utförts och resultatet visade på att de filer som hämtades från Renhållningen och som används som körlistor, hade stora brister, vilket ledde till att hämtställen inte kunde visas i det ruttplaneringssystem som testades för ändamålet. Det saknades fastighetsbeteckning och korrekta belägenhetsadresser i många fall, därför ges ett förslag till strukturering av dessa filer. Det har även utarbetats en beskrivning i fem steg som innefattar hur en verksamhet kan anpassa sitt system till ett ruttplaneringssystem. Slutsatsen blir att det krävs mycket arbete av Renhållningen för att anpassa sitt utdata och utföra positionering av hämtställen, men ett ruttplaneringssystem skulle vara mer effektivt än den manuella ruttplanering som nu används.

    Many studies conducted reveal that there are shortcomings in the usability of healthcare information systems. The question is if the usability of IT is adapted to the needs of the user. These shortcomings lead to that the doctors' and other healthcare personnel use of time and resources are not used in an optimal way.

    The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and compare the different evaluation models in usability that can also evaluate time efficiency in an information system's user interface. First I will make a theoretical review of evaluation models to find one or more suitable evaluation models to measure time efficiency in usability. Then to try this or these evaluation models in a practical case. This is to see if the theoretical evaluation models have the ability to display time that can be saved in the usability of the health-related information systems.

    After comparison and evaluation of different evaluation models for usability, it becomes clear that there are several evaluation models that can be used in different ways to evaluate the time efficiency in usability.

    The results from this study show that there are opportunities to save time in health care related information systems.

    Abstract [en]

    It is challenging to motivate usage of IT services provided by government or public administration since the usage of such services is based on voluntariness. One way to incentivize usage is by making such services fun to use, which can be done by using gamification. Gamification is game-like elements in an otherwise non-game like service. This study aims to describe how gamification, from a usability perspective, can be used in a citizen report application. The strategy used in this study is design and creation where we develop an IT artefact that constitute a prototype. Hence, the method prototyping is used. Furthermore, usability is considered while developing this prototype. The scientific contribution of this study is the prototype itself, and insights on how to use gamification as a vehicle for usability. Two versions of the prototype were developed before tested by five focus groups, which added up to a total of 37 respondents. The focus groups answered a questionnaire and participated in a semi-structured group interview. The result of this was evaluated and used to improve the prototype and to find suggestions of how to implement gamification in the application. Our findings show that gamification can be implemented in the application and should be so by using a point system where the points can be cashed in for a reward of some sort. To counteract risks of vandalism the points should be handed out to the user after the suggestion in the report is considered and validated by the public administration providing the service. Gamification should be implemented to create satisfaction regarding usability. However, this study finds that accommodation of efficiency and effectiveness needs should be prioritized before satisfactory needs are implemented in the application.

    Abstract [en]

    Internet of Things is a collective term for a development which means that different types of units can be equipped with sensors and computer chips that are connected to the internet. An increased amount of data results in an increased demand for solutions that can store, track, analyze and process data. One way to solve this is to use cloud-based real-time analytics. Multi-tenant and single-tenant are two types of architectures for cloud-based real-time analytics services, which can be used to solve the problems that come with handling the increased data volumes. These architectures differ in terms of complexity of the development.

    In this report Azure Stream Analytics represents multi-tenant architecture while HDInsight/ Storm represent single-tenant architecture.

    In order to compare these different architectures, we have evaluated them by making use of three usability criteria: effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction. Based on these criteria, we wanted answers to the following questions:

    • What similarities and differences can we see in development times?

    • Can we identify differences in functionality?

    • What do developers think about the various analysis services?

    We have used a design and creation strategy to develop two artifacts. Then we collected data from the development using multiple data collection methods. We used observations to document how we worked with the development of the analytical services, and to measure development times and identify differences in functionality. We have also used questionnaires to find out what users thought of the real-time analysis services.

    The Proof of Concept prototypes consisted of two artifacts, one for Azure Stream Analytics and one for HDInsight/Storm. We evaluated them by performing five different scenarios, each of them had 2-5 different tasks. We simulated a data stream by creating an application that continuously generated random data that we analyzed with the two real-time analysis services.

    We came to the conclusion that Azure Stream analytics was initially more useful than HDInsight/Storm but the differences decreased gradually. Azure Stream Analytics was easier to work with during the simpler analyzes but HDInsight/Storm had a wider choice of functionality.

    The purpose of this study is to find out what would motivate students to use a gamified platform to give each other formative feedback.

    The study is designed as a case study where the starting point of the study is the students' need for a possible common platform to facilitate each other's assistance in programming courses. But the study and subsequent results can also be applied to other courses. The use of both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods has been conducted, in the form of interviews and surveys as well as testing of a gamified platform.

    Since the collected data is of qualitative and quantitative nature, a mixture of thematic analysis to the qualitative data and a quantitative data analysis for the remaining quantitative data was also used. We have also evaluated a gamified platform against an existing framework.

    The literature studies are the basis for the definitions of the central concept of the study. The results of this study contribute to justifying whether a gamified platform is something that the students would like to see and use. Based on the students' attitude towards a gamified platform, a list of requirements has also been worked out.

    Something that has emerged from this study is that students are not motivated by a monetary reward. Instead, the motivation revolves around the ability to verify the knowledge for themselves and to take advantage of the opportunity to show off your skills.

    Many of todays systems are made of code bases with low readability which leads to low

    maintainability. One reason to this is that developers of the system have different experience and

    knowledge in how to write code. When code is written in totally different ways it can create problems

    as the system grows and becomes more complex.

    Since 2015, Nethouse in Borlänge has managed a system called TRAP (Transportstyrelsens

    Administrative Process System). TRAP is built with different techniques and during the

    maintainability process a lot of problems has occured because of that. The technique in TRAP is about

    to be lifted and by doing this one part of the goal is to create a code base which is more easy to read

    and maintain compared to todays code base. To achieve this goal the plan is to establish a common

    mindset in the team. A common mindset which is based in a set of guidelines called Clean code.

    The purpose of this study is to describe how a team is working to establish a common mindset based

    in the guidelines of Clean code and to describe important factors to consider in this situation.

    Two research questions was used to achieve the purpose of this study:

    How is the team working today to establish a common mindset?

    Which factors can be considered as important when a common mindset is about to establish?

    A case study with the help of interviews and questionnaries was conducted to answer these two

    questions.

    The result shows that the team is using pair programming, mob programming and also code review to

    establish a common mindset. The result also shows that the four factors mutual trust, mutual

    performance monitoring, closed loop communication and method are more important to consider in

    this situation.

    I dagens näringsliv är effektiv kommunikation och informationsutbyte mellan företag en förutsättning för verksamheten. Näringslivet utmärks av förändring; företag köps upp, företag slås samman, företag samarbetar i projektform. Behovet av att integrera varandras informationssystem står i paritet med ovanstående förändringar. Ett stort problem med systemintegration är variationsrikedomen mellan informationssystemen, beträffande teknisk plattform och programspråk. Webservices erbjuder metoder att enkelt integrera olika informationssystem med varandra. I rapporten beskrivs hur webservices implementeras och vilka tekniska komponenter som ingår, samt de fördelar som webservicetekniken ger. Uppdraget från Sogeti, Borlänge var att designa och implementera en prototyp, i vilken klientapplikationer i Java och VB.NET integreras med varandra genom webservices i respektive programspråk. För analys och design har metoden UML använts. Slutsatsen av rapporten är att Java och VB.NET kan kommunicera med varandra genom webserviceteknik. Dock är integrationen mellan de två programspråken inte okomplicerad. Detta leder till slutsatsen att webservicetekniken måste standardiseras för att få ordentligt genomslag som teknik för systemintegration mellan olika programspråk.

    Abstract [en]

    Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is a collective term for unmanned airborne vehicles and the systems that belong to the application. NCC has a desire to be able to create 3D models out of data coming from the UAS to perform marketing and calculations based on the same material. The combination of processing to be performed on the same material creates problems by requiring different software in the development process and these handles different file formats. Work on UAS causes errors which need not be taken into account when surveying on the ground. These sources of error may be differences in height and jitter in the UAV. There is a desire for the possibility to create virtual environments or panoramic images to show speculators upcoming builds and their actual results, this also creates a problem when there is yet another software to be managed to achieve the final result. At the time this study was conducted, there was no method or guidelines for preparing materials to carry out work in this combination. Our work was to study whether it was possible to create a method for this work as the company may apply. This was conducted through a qualitative study with different data collection methods, testing, and software. The results of the study show that the application that was used requires knowledge and computing power to perform the calculations. The tests carried out have been done so under limited conditions and further tests have not been carried out when the need existed. This leads to that a method is not going to produce under these circumstances. Instead, work has resulted in some general guidelines for working with UAS and the production of virtual environments.

    In software development organizations there is sometimes a need for change. In order to meet continuously increasing demands from their customers, Sandvik IT Services- SITS, at Sandvik in Sweden, required improving the way they worked with software development. Due to issues like a lot of work in progress and lot of simultaneous tasks for individuals in the teams that caused stress, it was almost impossible to address the question of working with improvements. In order to enable the improvement process Kanban was introduced in the software development teams. Kanban for software development is a change method created by David J. Anderson. The purpose of this thesis is twofold. One part is to assess what effects Kanban has had on the software development teams. The other part is to make a documentation of the Kanban implementation process at SITS. The documentation has been made on the basis of both company internal resources and observations of the Kanban implementation process. The effects of Kanban have been researched with an interview survey to the teams that have gone through the Kick start of the Kanban process. The result of the thesis is also twofold. One part of the result is an extensive documentation of the implementation process of Kanban at SITS. The other part is an assessment of the effects that Kanban has had at SITS. The major effects have been that the teams are experiencing less stress, more focus on quality and better customer collaboration. It is also evident is that it takes time for some effects to evolve when implementing Kanban

    Social media is a vast, fluctuant domain that is difficult to grasp, overlook and explain. It is important in our daily lives as well as for organisations, such as traditional media. Traditional media is moving from analogue news propagation to propagating news online, where social media plays a significant role. This study contributes to the understanding of traditional media propagation in social media, through quantitative and network analysis of articles’ spread in social media. The study also contributes to refining social media network analysis methodology, from the perspective of traditional media propagation in social media. The study is conducted as a survey where web documents of social media posts were collected and analysed. The scope of the study were Swedish traditional media. Two analysis methods were used: a quantitative statistical analysis of the propagation of articles and a network analysis comparing the usefulness of two common network analysis metrics: indegree centrality and PageRank. The results show that an overall of 22,34% of traditional media articles in this study, were propagated in social media. The findings include what categories of articles are most propagated on different social media platforms. Different kinds of newspapers were also compared, and variances were found. Local press articles were more propagated on Facebook than on Twitter, in opposite to national press that were more propagated on Twitter than on Facebook. Indegree centrality was found to be the most useful metric for examining traditional media propagation amongst Swedish newspapers, when compared to PageRank. Lack of cross-platform research in social media is pointed at, since this study identifies a prominent need for evolving cross-platform social media research.

    Inom Business Intelligence har begreppet Self-Service Business Intelligence (Self-Service BI) vuxit fram. Self-Service BI omfattar verktyg vilka möjliggör för slutanvändare att göra analyser och skapa rapporter utan teknisk support. Ett av dessa verktyg är Microsoft PowerPivot. På Transportstyrelsens Järnvägsavdelning finns behov av ett Self-Service BI-verktyg. Vi fick i uppdrag av Sogeti att undersöka om PowerPivot var ett lämpligt verktyg för Transportstyrelsen. Målet med uppsatsen har varit att testa vilka tekniska möjligheter och begränsningar PowerPivot har samt huruvida PowerPivot är användbart för Transportstyrelsen. För att få en djupare förståelse för Self-Service BI har vi kartlagt vilka möjligheter och begränsningar med Self-Service BI-verktyg som finns beskrivna i litteraturen. Vi har sedan jämfört dessa med våra testresultat vilket har varit syftet med uppsatsen. Resultatet av testerna har visat att Transportstyrelsens Järnvägsavdelning initialt behöver teknisk support för att använda PowerPivot. Testerna har även visat att vissa av Transportstyrelsens krav inte kan uppfyllas. Detta minskar användbarheten för Transportstyrelsen. Vidare har vi kommit fram till att Self-Service BI inte alltid är enkelt att använda för slutanvändare utan teknisk support. Resultatet visar även att det krävs en BI-infrastruktur för att enkelt skapa rapporter med god kvalitet och högsta möjliga korrekthet.

    Dagens ökade krav på effektivisering och kostnadsmedvetenhet skapar behov av att enklare och mer affärsmässigt kunna anskaffa IT-stöd. Fler och fler företag på marknaden erbjuder sina kunder att köpa IT-stöd paketerat som tjänster levererade via Internet. FMV:s inriktning och strategi är att i allt större utsträckning köpa IT-stöd som tjänster då målet är att minska IT-kostnaderna. Problemet inom FMV är att arbetssättet och styrmodellerna inte anpassats till anskaffning av tjänster vilket resulterar i svårigheter att styra och följa upp avtal samt problem att dimensionera och planera IT-projekten. Arbetet inleddes med en förstudie för att kartlägga hur IT-enheten arbetar. För att tydliggöra problembilden och identifiera förändringsbehoven genomfördes en förändringsanalys som beskriver dagens svårigheter kopplat till visioner och mål. Utifrån framkomna mål och de visioner som legat till grund för inriktningarna för att minska IT-kostnaderna gjordes en analys av förändringsbehoven. Analysen påvisade att den inledande planeringen av IT-projekt är nyckeln för ett lyckat införande. För att åstadkomma en bra grund för projekten i planeringsfasen har en beslutsstödsmodell tagits fram. Modellen är baserad på faktorer som identifierats som kritiska i valet av anskaffningsstrategi och som i stor grad styr om ett IT-stöd kan anskaffas som tjänst. Kopplat till modellen finns påståenden kring anskaffning av tjänst och anskaffning i egen regi. Syftet är att skapa ett gemensamt resonemang så att projektledarna i olika IT-projekt utgår ifrån samma frågeställningar i planeringsprocessen. Som sista steg i planeringen skall en omvärldsanalys genomföras för att säkerställa att IT-stödet finns att tillgå som tjänst.
