    I dagens mångkulturella samhälle har många engelskalärare nyanlända elever i sina vanliga klasser. Det är mycket viktigt att synliggöra de utmaningar som kan uppstå i klassrummet och visa olika sätt på vilka läraren kan möta dem. Syftet med denna studie är dels att belysa några av de svårigheter som lärarna med nyanlända elever i sina klasser kan möta under sin ordinarie undervisning när det gäller skrivmoment på engelska, och dels att ta reda på vilka strategier och processer lärare kan använda för att individualisera undervisningsprocessen och övervinna svårigheterna. En empirisk studie innefattande semistrukturerade intervjuer med fem engelskalärare i två olika gymnasieskolor har genomförts. Antalet nyanlända elever har varierat från klass till klass liksom deras kunskapsnivå i engelska. Datamaterialet har delats in i olika kategorier och analyserats enligt en transspråkande pedagogi sk modell som kallas för tresträngsmodellen. Resultatet visade att de flesta av de utmaningar som lärarna står inför ligger i den stora skillnaden i kunskapsnivåerna i engelska språket bland nyanlända elever. Resultatet visade också att de flesta lärare försöker använda elevernas modersmål som en resurs i undervisningen i engelska genom att dela in eleverna i smågrupper med samma modersmål för att gynna språkinlärningen. Avslutningsvis visas transpråkandet vara positivt för elevers språkinlärning.

    Abstract [en]

    This study examines the current situation regarding e-voting in four selected European countries as well as whether Sweden can implement e-voting and achieve success. With the help of a literature study, the study defines the advantages and disadvantages of e-voting and the traditional voting procedure and through a case study, the current situation is identified by the selected European countries and an interview is conducted to gain an insight into the Swedish voting procedure and where Sweden stands when it comes to e-voting. By analyzing the interview and doing a comparative analysis of the key factors that affected the failure or success of e-voting in the selected countries with the key factors identified in Sweden, the result will be clear whether an implementation in Sweden can be successful or not.

    Syftet med denna studie är att bidra med forskningsbaserad kunskap om huruvida elevernas socioekonomiska status (SES) spelar roll för elevernas prestationer i matematik i grundskolan. Dessutom har studien för avsikt att undersöka hur elevers SES påverkar deras motivation och inställning till matematik. Vidare kommer studien undersöka hur SES i relation med motivation och matematikängslan (ångest) påverkar elevernas prestationer i matematik. I studien används en kvalitativ metod och det empiriska materialet består av intervju med fem matematiklärare som undervisar på olika skolor i områden med olika SES. Studiens resultat är att elever vars föräldrar har hög SES har bättre förståelse av matematik som leder till att dessa elever presterar bättre i matematik. Studien visar även att elever i familjer med låg SES visar en låg självkänsla, vilket påverkar deras prestationer i matematik negativt. Det visas också i studien att elever med låg självkänsla är mer mottagliga för att få matematikängslan, vilket leder till lägre prestationer. Studien tyder på att lärarnas kompetens att skapa goda lärandemöjligheter och föräldrarnas stöd samt engagemang minskar elevernas matematikångest och bidrar till ökad motivation i matematik.

    Abstract [en]

    Humanitarian programming in fragile economies often use unconditional cash transfers (UCTs) to offset food insecurity. However, there is an increasing focus on using cash transfers to boost household incomes beyond the short-term through micro-enterprise start-up and growth. This paper conducts a randomised control trial to measure the impact of three different sizes of business grants against UCT in Somalia. We find that giving the same amount of money as a lump sum business grant results in higher likelihood of business ownership and income compared with UCT in the short run (3-4 months after the transfers). However, the impacts are larger and persist 3 years later only for those who received larger amount of grants. The results indicate our 'medium'-sized grant being more cost-effective. © 2022 The Author(s).

    Abstract [en]

    Purpose: The purpose of our paper is to investigate the attitudes and impacts of the following three stakeholders: the Swedish Tax Agency, banks and audit firms after the abolition of the audit requirement.

    Theoretical framework: Theories explaining the purpose of auditing are several. Three of these theories highlighted in Carrington's (2014) book are audit as assurance, improvement and insurance.

    Methodology: This essay uses a qualitative method. The data collection includes information taken from seven semi-structured interviews and constitutes the empirical material of the paper. The empirical data is analysed where it is also set against with the theoretical framework.

    Empirical: The empirical chapter of this essay introduces the results of the interview, i.e. the respondent's answers, opinions and thoughts. The results show that the respondents have similar views on the abolished audit requirement. Most of them have a positive attitude towards the change and they have also seen an improvement.

    Results and conclusion: In our study, we have found that the abolition of the audit requirement has had no significant impact on either audit firms or banks. However, the TaxAgency has been affected. Increased tax errors and tax offences have led to the need for more resources and more control for the the Swedish Tax Agency. The abolition of the audit requirement has reduced the credibility of annual accounts, which has led banks to require companies wishing to borrow money to have their annual accounts audited by an auditor. We have also seen a tendency for small businesses to opt out of auditing to minimise costs

    Syftet med denna studie är att skapa kunskap om SFI-lärares arbete kring webbaserad undervisning, samt vilka digitala verktyg de använder och på vilket sätt lärarna främjar språkinlärning, när det gäller muntlig interaktion och produktion och vilka metoder som används. Jag vill också ta reda på vad SFI-lärarna har för utmaningar och möjligheter med undervisning på distans.Den här studien bygger på den sociokulturella teorin. Metoden som används är kvalitativ. Materialet samlades med hjälp av enkäter som skickades via mejl till sex SFI-lärare från tre olika skolor. Resultatet av undersökningen visade att de tillfrågade SFI-lärarnas fjärrundervisningstimmar skiljer sig mellan 3h och 15h. Resultatet visade också att samtliga tillfrågade SFI-lärare använder Microsoft Teams och Lunis Liber som digitala hjälpmedel vid fjärr- och distansundervisning. Studien har även tydliggjort att vid webbaserad undervisning uppstår problem med teknik och dåligt nätverk. Samtliga tillfrågade lärare försöker använda den största delen av lektionen till att utveckla elevernas muntliga färdigheter och finner det väldigt utmanande på distans. I resultatet framgick också att samla bedömningsunderlag är mycket svårare på distans. Vidare visade resultatet att IT-support är önskvärt både för lärare och elever. Att genomföra prov, läxförhör och hörförståelse är något lärarna endast kan utföra på plats. De möjligheter med webbaserad undervisning som resultatet tog fram är: flexibilitet, besparing av tid, bättre elevkontakt, mer individ anpassad undervisning samt den digitala kompetensen utvecklas både hos lärare och elever. Avslutningsvis presenteras förslag till vidare forskning.

    Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur SFI C- och D-elever (studieväg 3) upplever nätbaserad undervisning under Coronapandemin samt vilka erfarenheter eleverna har om arbetet med digitala verktyg och vilka möjligheter och begränsningar nätbaserad undervisning har vad gäller muntlig färdighet. Dessutom vill jag undersöka vilka möjligheter och utmaningar med nätbaserad undervisning jämfört med närundervisning i SFI beskrivs av eleverna. 

    Studien utgår från ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande. Här diskuteras de medierande verktyg (digitala hjälpmedel) i form av datorer, ipads och mobiltelefoner samt lärarplattformar såsom Microsoft Teams och Liber Lunis som eleverna använder när de studerar på distans. Med hjälp av perspektivet används även scaffolding (stöttning) på online lektionerna, när en starkare elev hjälper en svagare. 

    För att kunna få svar på mina forskningsfrågor använder jag mig av en kvalitativ metod, som ger en fördjupad översikt över elevernas upplevelse av nätbaserad undervisning. Studien genomförs genom fysiska träffar med intervjuer på plats. I denna undersökning deltar sex SFI-elever från kurs C och D (studieväg 3). 

    Resultatet av undersökningen visar att de intervjuade eleverna använder Microsoft Teams och Liber Lunis som digitala hjälpmedel vid nätbaserad undervisning. Samtliga informanter använder sina privata mobiltelefoner och tre av informanterna använder datorer. I resultatet framkommer att fem av sex informanter upplever att det finns flexibilitet och möjlighet att bland annat kunna kombinera sina studier med arbete vid distansstudier, medan en informant bara vill ha närundervisning, eftersom denna studieform fungerar bäst enligt henne. Resultatet visar att informanterna upplever att de får utveckla sin muntliga färdighet i små grupper via ”Break-out rooms”. Resultatet visar också att informanterna anser att de får handledningstid när de behöver det.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: Eighteen of Sweden's population suffers from long-term pain. The unmeasured data in the presence is not known. Among the older population, 54% of women and 38% prevalence of men, have long-term pain. The pain affects several factors, everything from inferior well-being and physical fatigue, to the impact on social life and work. The costs for society are estimated to cost SEK 87.5 billion annually in direct and indirect costs. Complementary and alternative medicine is a collective term for treatments that are not part of the traditional medical treatment. Examples of treatments include massage, acupuncture, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), cognitive behavioral therapy (KBT) and meditation/yoga. Aim: To describe patients' experiences and the positive effect of alternative and complementary medicine of long-term pain. Method: A literature review based on 14 scientific articles with qualitative or quantitative approach. Searches have been conducted in CINAHL and PubMed. Results: Three main themes emerged in the result, which was increased wellbeing, pain relief and increased mobility. The studies indicate that the patients experienced good pain relief and increased quality of life both physically and mentally during treatment with complementary and alternative medicine. Patients who have not achieved pain relief through traditional care, experienced good pain relief with complementary and alternative medicine. Conclusion:  Complementary and alternative medicine can be an alternative to traditional treatment and sometimes even a first alternative for several reasons, among other things to avoid side effects from drugs.

    When teaching the pronunciation of an additional language, the teacher should know which properties to give high priority and which to give lower priority. The present study aims at ranking the perceptual weight among the three phonemic prosodic contrasts of Swedish, namely word stress, quantity and tonal word accent. In two experiments, native Swedish subjects were presented with several disyllabic sequences; intact words, nonsense words and words that were distorted with respect to the three prosodic contrasts. The distorted words were not members of minimal pairs. In addition to intact words and non-word distractors, subjects heard originally trochaic words pronounced with iambic stress pattern and vice versa, originally /VːC/ words pronounced as /VCː/ and originally accent I words pronounced with accent II and vice versa. Listeners should decide whether the words were real words or not. The result shows that words with changed word accent category were rather easy to identify, words with changed stress pattern harder to identify, and changed quantity category caused most problems.

    Abstract. In addition to 9 vowel and 18 consonant phonemes, Swedish has three prosodic phonemic contrasts: word stress, quantity and tonal word accent. There are also examples of distinctive phrase or sentence stress, where a verb can be followed by either an unstressed preposition or a stressed particle. This study focuses on word level and more specifically on word stress and tonal word accent in disyllabic words. When making curriculums for second language learners, teachers are helped by knowing which phonetic or phonological features are more or less crucial for the intelligibility of speech and there are some structural and anecdotal evidence that word stress should play a more important role for intelligibility of Swedish, than the tonal word accent. The Swedish word stress is about prominence contrasts between syllables, mainly signaled by syllable duration, while the tonal word accent is signaled mainly by pitch contour. The word stress contrast, as in armen [´arːmən] ‘the arm’ - armén [ar´meːn] ‘the army’, the first word trochaic and the second iambic, is present in all regional varieties of Swedish, and realized with roughly the same acoustic cues, while the tonal word accent, as in anden [´anːdən] ‘the duck’ - anden [`anːdən] ‘the spirit’ is absent in some dialects (as well as in singing), and also signaled with a variety of tonal patterns depending on region. The present study aims at comparing the respective perceptual weight of the two mentioned contrasts. Two lexical decision tests were carried out where in total 34 native Swedish listeners should decide whether a stimulus was a real word or a non-word. Real words of all mentioned categories were mixed with nonsense words and words that were mispronounced with opposite stress pattern or opposite tonal word accent category. The results show that distorted word stress caused more non-word judgments and more loss, than distorted word accent. Our conclusion is that intelligibility of Swedish is more sensitive to distorted word stress pattern than to distorted tonal word accent pattern. This is in compliance with the structural arguments presented above, and also with our own intuition.

    In an attempt to find out which of the two Swedish prosodic contrasts of 1) wordstress pattern and 2) tonal word accent category has the greatest communicative weight, a lexical decision experiment was conducted: in one part word stress pattern was changed from trochaic to iambic, and in the other part trochaic accentII words were changed to accent I.Native Swedish listeners were asked to decide whether the distorted words werereal words or ‘non-words’. A clear tendency is that listeners preferred to give more‘non-word’ responses when the stress pattern was shifted, compared to when wordaccent category was shifted. This could have implications for priority of phonological features when teaching Swedish as a second language.

    We used national surveys to study how older persons’ changing household patterns influence the gender balance of caregiving in two countries with distinct household structures and cultures, Spain and Sweden. In both countries, men and women provide care equally often for their partner in couple-only households. This has become the most common household type among older persons in Spain and prevails altogether in Sweden. This challenges the traditional dominance of young or middle-aged women as primary caregivers in Spain. In Sweden, many caregivers are old themselves. We focus attention to partners as caregivers and the consequences of changing household structures for caregiving, which may be on the way to gender equality in both countries, with implications for families and for the public services.

    Abstract [en]

    Background Due to various circumstances, more and more people are forced to flee their countries of origin, which leads to more and more countries becoming multicultural. A multicultural society is in turn reflected in health care. Nurses are faced with great challenges in the care of patients who have other cultural backgrounds. Therefore, it is important that nurses are culturally competent and able to communicate with patients who do not share the same language and culture.

    AimThe purpose was to describe the nurse's experiences of transcultural nursing among adult patients.

    MethodA literature review based on 15 scientific articles was conducted. The collection of data was done by using databases PubMed and CINAHL

    ResultsThe results of the study showed that nurses face several challenges in the field of transcultural nursing which include lack of cultural competence, communication barriers, prejudices, and individual values. It became clear that sufficient cultural competence, effective communication, respect, and a welcoming attitude are significant and decisive factors in being able to provide meaningful and dignified care to patients with a different cultural background.

    ConclusionsNurses face challenges in caring for patients from different cultural backgrounds, which can lead to uncertainty and misunderstanding. To ensure quality care, nurses need to increase their knowledge of transcultural nursing and develop effective communication strategies.

    Sedan år 2011 ligger det i skolans uppdrag att ordna med studiehandledning på modersmål, en stödinsats som är tätt sammankopplad med modersmålsundervisning. I skolförordningen, som reglerar Sveriges alla skolformer, kan man läsa att elever som behöver studiehandledning på sitt modersmål ska få det (Skolförordningen, 5. kap, 4 §). Syftet med den här studien är att skapa förståelse om studiehandledning på modersmål utifrån studiehandledarnas egna perspektiv samt utifrån innehållet i styrdokument.

    Studien baseras på halvstrukturerade intervjuer med tre informanter som arbetar som studiehandledare på modersmål på en gymnasieskola och på en granskning av styrdokument där studiehandledning på modersmål nämns. Resultatet visar att informanterna känner sig välbehövda och viktiga i sin yrkesroll. De vittnar om att nyanlända elever behöver stöttning i sitt modersmål för att nå de utsatta målen i ett eller flera ämnen. Det framgår dock att samarbetet mellan studiehandlarna och ämneslärarna behöver bli bättre för att lektionerna ska kunna planeras och utföras på ett bra sätt. Även studiehandledarnas status på skolan behöver höjas, som det ser ut nu så arbetar de i det tysta med ansvar för ett stort antal elever.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: In 2014 a ban was introduced on the progressive depreciation of housing associations. The same year it became mandatory to apply any of the K-regulatory frameworks, a new project developed by the Accounting Board. Housing associations immediately began speculating in the financial impact of the legislative amendment. It was believed that the ban would be characterized by negative results due to higher depreciation costs as well as to the members’ annual fees that would be increased.

    Aim: The purpose of the survey was to create an understanding of the financial consequences from the ban on progressive depreciation received for the housing associations, with regard to which of the regulations applied.

    Method: I chose to use a qualitative method in the study. By interviewing eight respondents I collected the empirical data which I analyzed with the help of my theoretical framework.

    Results & conclusion: My study has shown that those who participated in my research did not feel that the ban on progressive depreciation resulted in negative consequences or that the selection of the regulatory had an impact on what they received for consequences. I have therefore concluded that the selection of the regulations did not affect how the associations was affected by the ban on progressive depreciation.     Abstract [en]

    We have studied the impact of digital tools on the daily work of accounting consultants. The purpose of the study is to explain how and why accounting consultants use and perceive digital tools in their work. The theoretical framework draws on previous research on the impact of digitalization on the accounting industry, digital tools used in the tasks of accounting consultants, and institutional theory to explain the changes in the accounting industry. The method we have used in our study was qualitative, involving semi-structured interviews with seven participating respondents. Our results have shown that digital tools have contributed to improvements and efficiencies. By implementing digital tools, accounting consultants have been able to reduce manual work and increase automation and integration with various subsystems and accounting software. This has resulted in time and cost savings, as well as improved accuracy. The study also shows that the adoption of RPA and AI technology offers a promising future, freeing up time for more value-added tasks such as advisory services, client interaction, and analytical work. To address the risk of the accounting consultant profession disappearing, the study emphasizes the need for adaptation, skills development, and security in the implementation of digitalization. It also highlights the lack of digital tool training for accounting consultants, with the responsibility for this currently lying on accounting firms.

    We have studied Swedish listed companies on the Stockholm Stock Exchange largecap list, which includes the largest listed companies in Sweden. The purpose of this study is to seek connection between the companies' impairment losses on goodwill and significant events. These significant events consist of a change of accountant and CEO. The theoretical frame of reference is based on previous theories on the different ways of management to subjectively assess the need for write-downs. It is not always a management decision that is for the good of the company but may have its own incentives to maximize its own benefit. The method we used in our study has been a quantitative method where we collected data from the companies´ annual reports and quantified it to seek connection through regression analysis. Our results do not give any indication of the relationship between impairment of goodwill and significant events.

    The grammar teaching and its effectiveness have been at the centre of several studies, where it has been observed that learning a new language is often facilitated by the proficiency in its grammatical elements.

    The purpose of this study is, on the one hand, to better understand how teachers in Sweden teach grammar in French as a foreign language (FLE). On the other hand, we have also studied the attitude of teachers and students towards the teaching of grammar and observed the pedagogical approaches adopted in the textbooks of FLE for the teaching of grammar.

    A qualitative method was used for this study. Interviews with four teachers teaching French, nine observation sessions during FLE to see closely the methods used to teach grammar and questionnaires distributed to students learning French as a foreign language in 9th grade. In addition, two textbooks for class 7 were selected to examine the grammatical approaches expressed in the grammar exercises.

    From the responses received during the interviews, we can see that teachers' attitudes towards the importance of grammar are very positive, but they believe that grammar needs to be stated more clearly in the curriculum and the CERC. Our data show also that teachers in French prefer to include grammar through explicit rather than implicit instruction, and that they use explicit, inductive, or deductive grammar instruction to provide better understanding to learners.

    The 15 answers to the questionnaire allowed us to understand that most studentswho participated have a positive attitude towards the role of French grammar and that they needto know grammar to speak French. The results of the questionnaire also showed that studentsprefer deduction-based teaching to learn the grammar of the target language.

    As for the two textbooks, they do not follow the same didactic approaches. In the textbook La Nouvelle Chouette B, the learner is led to discover grammatical notions through a support text or corpus and a series of exercises, and this is guided by the teacher. However, we find that the Arc en Ciel 7 textbook follows an explicit and deductive approach because a grammar rule is always stated and explained to students in French and Swedish with some supporting examples, at the beginning of each chapter. Then, the students do a series of exercises where they learn to apply the grammar rule.

    Många elever har svårigheter att förstå fysik och det har ofta att göra med avsaknad av grundlig begreppsförståelse. Då fysiken rymmer många ämnesspecifika ord som har andra betydelser i vardagsspråket krävs det att läraren arbetar med elevernas förståelse och användning av fysikaliska begrepp. Studien bygger på intervjuer med fyra fysiklärare och syftar till att beskriva och undersöka lärarnas resonemang vid val av metod för begreppsinlärning samt deras syn på syftet med att utveckla förmågan att använda begrepp och begreppsförståelse utifrån forskning och teori om sociokulturellt perspektiv för språkutveckling. Hur resonerar lärare om sina metoder i begreppsundervisning i fysikämnet på grundskolan? Hur motiverar lärare syftet med begreppsanvändning och begreppsförståelse i fysikämnet? Val av metod vid begreppsinlärning beror på att eleverna inte anses tillgodogöra sig undervisningen enbart via läroböcker utan behöver använda egna ord och aktiviteter för att hålla koncentration och intresse vid liv. Slutsatsen är att det finns olika resonemang för olika val av metoder. Den gemensamma åsikten är att det mest effektiva för att nå flest elever är att variera metoder och använda sig av elevernas eget intresse och vokabulär. Vikten av att lära sig begrepp tidigt för att förstå fysiken betonas, men lärare använder sig av sina erfarenheter i undervisningen istället för att metodiskt undersöka elevernas förförståelse. Studiens resultat är inte generaliserbart men ger information om hur fysiklärare resonerar om metodval och begreppsundervisning.

    Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s Devil on the Cross represents both an insightful interpretation and a scathing critique of Kenyan politics and society during the period of neo-colonialism. The present thesis aims to explore, with the help of Marxist ideology and criticism, the relevance of the issues of class struggle, elitism and social collectivism in the novel. At the same time, this study will attempt to define Devil on the Cross as a "national allegory" depicting situations that are common to almost all post-colonial societies, and in particular, how the novel's ideological and political commitment is an important feature as it reflects Ngugi’s effort to draw attention to how Kenya and Africa as a whole suffered from imperialism, neo-colonialism, and a corrupt and greedy capitalist society.

    لا شكّ في أنه من غير الممكن أن نتحدث عن أعماق حياة الإنسان من دون اعتبار الفتوحات المعرفية والملاحظات المدهشة التي أنجزتها كشوفات التحليل النفسي وعلم النفس التحليلي عند فرويد ويونغ وغيرهما من علماء النفس. وإذا كان هذا صحيحاً بشكل عام، فإنّه ولا ريب مثار اهتمام كبير حين يتعلق الأمر بالإبداعات الإنسانية من فنون وآداب وغير ذلك. ولكن الأكثر إثارة هو حين يلحظ المبدع عمل اللاوعي، الفردي والجمعي، بغض النظر عن التسمية التي قد يطلقها عليه: قوى الحياة، إرادة الكون، رسائل الوجود، إلى آخره. ولعلّه من الصواب القول إنّ هذا الوعي لما هو متعالٍ أو غير واعٍ أو فائق للعاديّ يترافق بإدراك للذات وتفرّدها وبتلمّس دورها التاريخي بوصفها شخصية غائيّة وعلاقتها بالزمان والمكان ليست عشوائية أو اعتباطية. هكذا إذن ينظر الإنسان إلى نفسه من منظور تاريخيّ، أي من زاوية حدس المعنى والغاية والرسالة.

    بهذا المعنى تبرز إشارات اللاوعي، الفردي والجمعي/الكوني، في فصول عديدة من حياة الروائي والناقد والكاتب الكبير جبرا إبراهيم جبرا، ويبرز وعيه الشخصي لكثير من هذه الإشارات، والتي سنتناولها في ضوء بعض المفاهيم والتصوّرات والتجارب الشخصية التي كشفها عالم النفس التحليلي السويسري كارل غوستاف يونغ.

    Abstract [en]

    Aim

    The aim of this study is to explore based on internationally recognised frameworks:

    1. how internal control structures are applied in Sweden among different sectors;

    2. how organizational size and environment affect internal control structures; and

    3. the impact of internal control structures on organizational performance.

    Methods

    A quantitative method was used in the data collection and analysis. The sample consisted of 1117 organizations operating in Sweden. A mean analysis was conducted to measure the level of internal control structures among different industries, organizational sizes, and different choices of listing in the stock exchange market. Person’s correlation analysis was then used to explore possible correlations between external environmental factors and internal control structures, and internal control structures and organizational performance. Lastly, a structural model was built to measure the impact of internal control structures on organizational performance. The measurements of internal control structures and organizational performance are based on COSO framework’s principles and objectives.

    Results

    This study gives an insight on how internal control structures are applied across industrial sectors in Sweden, with financial institutions and manufacturing organizations having notably higher levels of internal control structures. Additionally, it provides evidence of the impact external environmental factors have on internal control structures. Furthermore, it shows that organizations that are listed in the Swedish stock exchange market have an equivalent level of internal control structures to those registered in the American stock exchange market. In contrast, organisations that are not listed in the stock exchange market have a notably lower level of internal control structures. Lastly, it illustrates the positive impact the presence of internal control structures has on organizational performance. 3 | P a g e

    Conclusion

    The results highlight a crucial role the supervisory authority Finansinspektionen (FI) has in regulating the Swedish financial market. They also show that the stability of the Swedish business environment has had a positive impact on the level of internal control structures.

    Whatever happened, happened. Some notes on inner logic, especially in organizations

    The notion that social events partly arise as a consequence of inner logic, i.e. that patterns and structures emerge outside of, or even in opposition against, plans and goals is a common element in social science. Inner logic is a summary term for social processes developing autonomously, i.e. without any individual or group intending them. Organizations quite often contain inner-logic processes. If, as this author maintains, fruitful organization theory has to build on rationalistic assumptions, how then do we handle instances of inner logic? A first step may be to break up the traditional link between structuralism and functionalism, maintaining the former and rejecting the latter. Organizations are intentionally dynamic, i.e. depend on order and predictability. To the extent that inner-logic processes appear in organizations, they should be analysed as confrontations between opposing rationalities rather than as spontaneous reactions of a ”system” . Also, frequently recurring organizational forms such as hierarchy are more fruitfully regarded as e.g. transaction-cost outcomes rather than as functional responses to system needs. Rationalism and structuralism are compatible, rationalism and functionalism are not.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: Subacromial pain is a common problem within sports. Exercise is the treatment of choice with subacromial pain. However, there is a lack of consensus regarding optimal exercise, doses and load. The shoulder dislocation exercise can be seen on social media as an effective treatment on subacromialpain, but without scientific backing.

    Purpose: To investigate the effect on mobility, activity limitations, general shoulder health and pain of the shoulder dislocation exercise on adult recreational powerlifters with subacromial pain.

    Method: A single subject study with A-B design were conducted on five individuals with subacromial pain syndrome who regularly trains powerlifting. Baseline phase (A) consisted of three measurements sessions for one week. Outcome measures for mobility was Apley’s scratch test; grade of activity limitation was evaluated with PSFS, pain was evaluated with number of positive provocation tests and the general shoulder health by the SRQ-S. The intervention phase (B) was during six weeks, performing the intervention three times a week split into three sets of ten repetitions. The results were analyzed using the 2SDband method and presented narratively for each participant.

    Results: Four of five participants significantly improved their mobility. Four offive participants clinically significantly improved their self-assessed activity limitations. No one improved their general shoulder health, but all five participants decreased number of positive provocation tests for subacromial pain.

    Conclusion: The shoulder dislocation exercise seems to improve mobility, activity limitations and number of positive provocation tests for subacromial pain, but not the general shoulder health in the population of adult recreationally powerlifters with subacromial pain.

    Detta är en systematisk litteraturstudie som behandlar svensklärarens didaktiska möjligheter och utmaningar gällande hur en lärare kan arbeta normmedvetet i undervisningen kopplat till läsningen och genom de samtal som kan uppstå därefter. Syftet med studien är att utifrån tidigare forskning urskilja hur en svensklärare kan arbeta normmedvetet. För att uppnå syftet har tre forskningsfrågor formats:

    • Hur kan svenskläraren arbeta normmedvetet?

    • Hur kan svenskläraren arbeta normkritiskt med lärresurser?

    • Hur kan svenskläraren arbeta normmedvetet i de samtal som uppstår efter läsningen?

    För att svara på frågeställningarna eftersöks och sammanställs relevanta publikationer från början av 2000-talet till år 2023. Studierna visar att skolan präglas av en hierarkisk ordning där det heterosexuella, det vill säga relationer mellan män och kvinnor, utgör normen. Detta är också synligt i lärresurserna som väljs av lärarna. Detta resulterar i att eleverna hamnar i ett underläge i förhållande till svenskläraren gällande valet av lektionsinnehåll, vilket således innebär normöverföringar. För att synliggöra olika normöverföringar kan lärare använda sig av undervisningsstrategier såsom kritiskt förhållningssätt, inkluderingsstrategi och ökad textrörlighet. Vidare kan läraren arbeta med en flerstämmig kommunikation i en trygg klassrumsmiljö, vilket i sin tur kan påverka elevernas självinsikt och deras syn på omvärlden samt minska risken för kränkande yttranden.

    En slutsats som vi drar av resultatet är att svensklärare kan ha en medvetenhet kring sina egna normföreställningar och på så vis öka chansen för att kunna inta ett normmedvetet perspektiv i sin undervisning. Vidare behöver lärare vara medvetna om att det förekommer olika maktstrukturer inom skolan och undervisa eleverna i strategier för att kunna synliggöra strukturerna för att på så sätt kunna arbeta utifrån ett normmedvetet förhållningssätt.

    The Great Transformation of our time, amalgamating the local with the global demands new modes of governance and management. Increased variety and diversity of the population as well as the complexity of social issues are changing the prerequisites of social sustainability. The aim of this article is to discuss how this transformation strengthens the importance of citizens’ co-creation as regards identification of the problems, measures to be taken as well as the implementation of the same. The article furthermore discusses the role of trans-disciplinary knowledge production and its possible contribution to a socially sustainable development, as well as how current modes of governance influence the room for manoeuver and conditions for co-creation. Three mental shifts are considered necessary. The first relates to the importance of viewing city residents as citizens with rights and responsibilities and not only as customers and consumers. The second concerns the shift of the view what knowledge is and what it could be and the third relates to how the question of power should be conceptualized.

    Contamination of the heating system is not a well-known problem that can have major economic consequences. Due to minerals and low pH in the system arises limescale and corrosion that can clog the system and can damage components. This will result in increased energy consumption for users and a higher energy input from the district heating company. The purpose of this work is to study different cleaning methods for heating systems and if it is viable with cleaning of heating systems. The cleaning effect on the district heating demand and how it affects greenhouse gas emissions and primary energy use. And examine whether the maintenance of the heating system provides less energy than remodeling the building envelope. Previous studies in this area were examined and relevant data were collected after talks with interesting companies working with cleaning of heating systems. Cleaning the heating system was compared with various packages such as remodeling of the building envelope and heat recovery ventilation. Cleaning the heating systems with an efficiency of 10 % resulting in a reduced heating need at 1,63 GWh per year and a reduction in emissions of 177 tonnes CO2e per year. The reduced heating demand resulted in a reduction in primary energy consumption by 113 750 kWh per year. Installation of the cleaning systems can result in a saving for Tunabyggen of 759 200 SEK per year. The conclusion of this work is that the cleaning prolongs the lifetime of heating systems, but can’t replace remodeling of the building envelope in terms of reduced energy consumption.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to investigate the factor structure of the revised dental beliefs survey (DBS-R) in a group of regular dental patients. The study group consisted of 278 patients (mean age 54 yr), 61% of whom were women. The DBS-R item mean value was 1.6. Principal component analysis (PCA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were performed. The initial PCA among the 28 DBS-R items showed four factors with eigenvalues of > 1 explaining 67% of the total variance. Five different CFA models were tested. The final model revealed a four-factor solution with one second-order factor (i.e. a hierarchical CFA). Thus, the latent second-order variable, 'dental beliefs', explains the variance from all DBS-R items through the four first-order factors labeled 'ethics', 'belittlement', 'communication and empathy', and 'control and anxiety'. The results suggest a somewhat different factor structure of DBS-R than previously reported for dental-fear patients. Hence, the underlying factor structure of the DBS-R may differ between different patient groups. The results point towards the use of the original 28-item DBS-R and interpreting the scale as measuring an overall construct of 'dental beliefs' and thus patients' attitudes and feelings related to dentists and dentistry.

    Denna studie syftar till att undersöka lärares förhållningssätt till begreppet mångfald så som det skrivs fram i ämnesplanen för religionskunskap i LGY11. Fem kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med lärare i religionskunskap på gymnasiet. Dessa intervjuer har tolkats med hjälp av en narrativ analysmetod och relaterats dels till olika filosofiska perspektiv, normkritisk pedagogik samt fältet för kontroversiella frågor i undervisning. Resultatet påvisar att det finns såväl likheter som skillnader mellan lärarnas förhållningssätt. En likhet var att många av dem intog ett elevperspektiv i sin undervisning och berättade om hur de anpassar sin undervisning till olika elevgrupper. En skillnad berör hur man uppfattar själva religionsämnet som sådant; vissa av lärarna talade i termer av att motverka fördomar, andra om att ämnet kan bidra till en ökad förståelse hos eleverna själva.

    Skolverket (2023) har efter Regeringskansliets (2022) handlingsplan Agenda 2030 fått i uppdrag att stötta svensklärare i deras arbete att främja likabehandling. En del av det främjande arbetet är att öka normmedvetenheten i skolans undervisning. Skolverket (2023) menar att samtliga verksamma aktörer inom skolan ska vara medvetna om att de bör “Reflektera över den egna positionen och vad vi som skolpersonal tar med oss in i verksamheten.” (Skolverket, 2023). I den här enkätstudien undersöker vi hur 25 svensklärare uppfattar att de inkluderar ett normkritiskt förhållningssätt i sin litteraturundervisning. De frågeställningar som vi utgår ifrån är följande:• Vilka kriterier säger de utvalda svensklärarna att de utgår från gällande valet av skönlitteratur?• Hur beskriver de utvalda svensklärarna att de planerar litteraturundervisningen i relation till ett normkritiskt förhållningssätt? I genomförandet av studien har vi den normkritiska pedagogiken som det teoretiska ramverket. Vi har en hermeneutisk metodansats och genom en innehållsanalys identifierar vi viktiga beståndsdelar som resulterar i att besvara våra frågeställningar. Val av metod grundar sig i att vi eftersöker en förståelse för svensklärarnas uppfattningar. Studiens resultat påvisar att samtliga 25 svensklärare anser att deras litteraturundervisning berörs av ett normkritiskt förhållningssätt. Det framkommer att svensklärarna utgår från kriterier så som: betygskriterier, elevgruppen, ekonomi, tillgång till litteratur och tid. Respondenterna lyfter även att det är viktigt att de själva läst den text som eleverna förväntas läsa, vilket bidrar till att vissa lärare bygger upp en egen litterär kanon som de grundar sin undervisning på. Ett flertal av respondenterna menar att det krävs goda relationer mellan lärare och elev för att lämpliga litteraturval ska kunna göras. Resultaten påvisar att det finns kriterier som svensklärarna utgår från när de planerar sin litteraturundervisning. Dessutom har fem teman identifierats när svensklärarna redogör för vilka litterära verk de använder i sin undervisning. Vår slutsats är således att de 25 utvalda svensklärarna anser att de arbetar enligt Regeringskansliets mål gällande främjandet av en ökad normmedvetenhet i skolundervis-ningen.

    Abstract [en]

    Snowboarding is today a major winter sport with its own equipment, its own culture and elite riders. For professional athletes or for those who just snowboard for fun, snowboard becomes an extension of their body while in motion.

    The layout on the boards has changed over the years but despite of this there is a lack of scientific studies in the field. Therefore, this study aimed to identify how the graphics of 240 snowboards have evolved between 1980-2010, and fill some of these holes in the scientific documentation. 

    This survey was based on a visual content analysis, which resulted in interesting observations. The results that emerged were that the result can be generalized and that the development of snowboards graphics has changed over the decades. Snowboards from the various decades have specific characteristics that this study provides.
