Four teachers were asked about their experiences and opinions regarding physical material as teaching tools in the field of probability for students in grades four to six in Swedish primary school. Data collected through interviews was analyzed using the phenomenographic approach. While different materials were used, all teachers agreed on the importance of guidance when such materials are used to teach. In summary, it was concluded that the pervasive attitude among these teachers was that such material is a tool for the teacher not a substitute for the same.
