Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Vård i livets slutskede är ett komplext omvårdnadsområde då sjuksköterskor behandlar de fysiska, psykiska, sociala och existentiella behoven hos patienten. Sjuksköterskor skall utgå ifrån ett helhetsperspektiv vid omvårdnad. Tillsammans med patienten och hens familj skall sjuksköterskan utforma vården på ett sådant sätt att patienten är delaktig i sin egen vård.  Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda vuxna patienter i livets slutskede inom olika vårdenheter. Metod: Studien är en litteraturöversikt baserad på 15 kvalitativa artiklar som publicerade mellan åren 2010–2018 och identifierade i databaserna CINAHL och PubMed.  Resultat: Vårda döende patienter upplevde sjuksköterskor som både positivt och negativt. Stöd från kollegor, en ökad kunskap och mer erfarenhet av vård i livets slutskede upplevde sjuksköterskor att de fanns ett behov av. Religion och kultur kunde både hjälpa men också begränsa sjuksköterskor i deras arbete. Sjuksköterskor upplevde att de vårdade patienten och familjen som en enhet och ur ett helhetsperspektiv. Slutsats: Vård i livets slutskede sågs av sjuksköterskor som utmanande men tillfredsställande.

Abstract [en]

Background: End-of-life care is a complex area of nursing as the registered nurse addresses the physical, mental, social and existential needs of the patient. The registered nurses’ should incorporates a holistic perspective in her care. Together with the patient and their family, the nurse should design the nursing care in such a way that the patient is involved. Aim: To describe the experiences of registered nurses’ caring for adults in end-of-life care within different care units. Method: The literature review was based on 15 qualitative articles that were published between 2010–2018. Which were from the database CINAHL and PubMed. Result: Registered nurses’ experienced caring for dying patients as both positive and negative. Registered nurses’ experienced a need for support from colleagues, increased knowledge and more experience in end of life care. Religion and culture could both help but also limit registered nurses’ in their work. Registered nurses’ felt that they cared for the patient and the family as a unit from a holistic perspective.
