Swedish advertising agencies’ use of experience design (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Experience design can have positive effects, both financially but also in how something is perceived. In order for more people to have the opportunity to use experience design, it’s important that the advertising agency industry have knowledge of the subject. Therefore, this study examines the extent to which Swedish advertising agencies know the term of experience design and how they use this type of design. The purpose of this work is that it could be used as a basis for seeing development opportunities within the subject at Swedish advertising agencies. It could also be used to discover new potential areas for implementation of experience design The study was conducted through a survey with semi-structured interviews, with people from five different agencies, and a questionnaire. The results of the survey showed that most people had heard about experience design before, but few in the advertising agency industry use the term themselves. However, all had other terms that they associated with the Swedish term of experience design that they were more familiar with, such as user experience, customer experience or experience design (English terms). According to them, the majority of respondents work with some form of experience design. It was also found that different agencies work with this in different ways. The method most commonly used was storytelling, UX and making something boring fun. Experience-focused areas and industries were the ones that were considered the easiest to apply experience design to, and this is also where they considered themselves to work actively with experience design today. However, most people felt that experience design could be applied to everything.
