Abstract [en]

The deformation tube on the pivot anchor is a unit of the crash energy management system integrated to Dellner Couplers automatic train coupler. The deformation tube is attached by a pressing operation that requires high forces. To accomplish this operation an assembly fixture is needed where the assembly can be secured.This project is designed as a structured product development process on the existing designs of the assembly fixtures used today. The goal was to develop a more flexible solution used for assembling the deformation unit on the pivot anchor module.The project will result in a mechanical design that could provide a basis for manufacturing a prototype. Suggestions to confirm validation of the developed concept and recommendations for further development will be given at the end.
