Syfte Syftet med studien är att undersöka sambandet mellan könsfördelningen av idrottare i Riksidrottsförbundets olika medlemsförbund och vuxnas uppfattning om respektive idrotts genustillhörighet. Vidare syftar studien till att utvärdera om vuxnas uppfattning kring idrotternas genustillhörighet skiljer sig beroende av kön, ålder och högsta utbildningsnivå. Metod Datainsamlingsmetoden i denna studie har skett via en enkätundersökning där deltagande i undersökningen gjordes tillgängligt för medlemmar på fyra träningscenter, ingående i samma träningskedja, i en medelstor stad i Mellansverige. Erbjudandet om deltagande i enkäten gick enbart till de som klickat i att de gillar träningscentrets Facebooksida. Enkäten bestod av bakgrundsfrågor samt frågor där respondenterna fick skatta sin uppfattning om en idrotts genustillhörighet på en skala 1-5, där 1 innebär att idrotten anses feminin och 5 innebär att idrotten anses maskulin. Datat analyserades med hjälp av Spearmans korrelation respektive X2-test. Resultat Resultatet visade på att det finns ett signifikant samband mellan könsfördelningen av idrottare i Riksidrottsförbundets olika medlemsförbund och allmänhetens uppfattning om respektive idrotts genustillhörighet (ρ = 0,074, p < 0,001). Resultatet visade däremot att det inte finns en skillnad i uppfattningen av idrotternas genustillhörighet beroende av respondenternas kön (X2 = 1,40, p = 0,50), ålder (X2 = 0,46, p = 0,80), eller utbildningsnivå (X2 = 0,05, p = 0,98). Slutsatser Slutsatser som kan dras är att det positiva sambandet mellan idrotters könsfördelning och individers uppfattning om idrottens genustillhörighet innebär att idrotter med stor andel aktiva män generellt sett är skattade som maskulina medan idrotter med stor andel aktiva kvinnor skattas som feminina. Uppfattningen gäller oberoende av de aktiva vuxnas kön, ålder och utbildningsnivå.

Purpose The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the gender distribution of athletes in the National Sports Federation's various Swedish sports federations and the adults' perception of each sports gender affiliation. Furthermore, this study aims to evaluate whether the perception of the gender affiliation of sports differs depending on sex, age and the level of education. Methods The data collection method in this study was a survey where the participation was made available to members of four training centers, included in the same company, in a medium-sized city in central Sweden. The offer of participation in the survey only went to those who had clicked that they like the training center's Facebook page. The questionnaire consisted of background questions and questions where the respondents had to estimate their perception of a sport's gender affiliation on a scale of 1-5, where 1 means that the sport is considered feminine and 5 means that the sport is considered masculine. The data was analyzed using Spearman's correlation and a X2-test. Results The result showed that there is a significant correlation between the gender distribution of athletes in different Swedish sports association affiliates and the adoults perception of the respective sports gender affiliation (ρ = 0.074, p <0.001). The result also showed that there is no difference in the perception of the gender affiliation of sports depending on the respondents' sex (X2 = 1.40, p = 0.50), age (X2 = 0.46, p = 0.80), or educational level ( X2 = 0.05, p = 0.98). Conclusions Conclusions that can be drawn are that the positive correlation between the sports gender distribution and individuals' perception of the sport's gender affiliation means that sports with a large proportion of active men are generally perceived as masculine, while sports with a large proportion of active women are perceived as feminine. The perception is independent of the active adults' sex, age and level of education.
