Bakgrund: Kommunikation är en viktig faktor i vården. Sjuksköterskan bör ha en god kommunikationsförmåga med alla patienter. Sjuksköterskans roll är att arbeta utifrån personcentrerad vård. Vid personcentrerad vård är det viktigt med kommunikation då den levererar viktig information om patientens sjukdom, känslor och tankar. I Sverige arbetar sjuksköterskor inom slutenvård under olika lagar, bland annat Hälso- och sjukvårdslagen som belyser att all befolkning har rätt till god vårdkvalitet.Syftet: Syftet med studien var att genom en litteraturöversikt beskriva faktorer ur sjuksköterskans perspektiv som påverkar kommunikation mellan sjuksköterskan och patienter inom slutenvården.Metod: Litteraturöversikt, genom en systematisk sökstrategi inhämtades artiklar som var från åren 2011–2021 från databaserna Cinahl och PubMed. Efter noggrann genomläsning och kvalitetsgranskning valdes 16 artiklar. Genom kvalitativ metodik identifierades olika kategorier.Resultat: Fyra huvudkategorier identifierades: olika kommunikationssätt, sjuksköterskans kompetens, försvårande faktorer, Religiösa och kulturella skillnader. Under dessa huvudkategorier framkom tio underkategorier: Tolk, verbal och icke verbal kommunikation, hjälpmedel, erfarenhet, utbildning, sjukdom, arbetsmiljöpåverkan, upplevt brist på tid, språkbarriärer, och religiösa och kulturella hinder.Slutsats: Genom dessa kategorier framkom olika påverkan på kommunikationen mellan sjuksköterska och patient. Många sjuksköterskor saknade utbildning inom olika kommunikationssätt, vilket försvårade informationsöverföringen till patienten. När kommunikationen misslyckas påverkas patientsäkerhet och sjuksköterskans roll på ett negativt sätt.

Background: Communication is an important part in healthcare. Nurses should be able to communicate in a good manner with all their patients. A person-centered care is a crucial part of any nurse's daily work which helps gathering such as diseases, feelings and thoughts, things that should be communicated fully and clearly to the patients. This comprises a major part of the person-centered care. Nurses in Swedish hospitals follow several laws, e.g. Healthcare Law, that states that all citizens have the right to high quality healthcare.Aim: The aim of the study was, through a literature review, describe factors that from the nurse´s perspective affect the communication in hospitals between the nurse and the patient.Method: Literature review, through a systematic search strategy article from the years 2011 – 2021 were found in the databases Cinahl and PubMed. Sixteen articles were chosen after careful reading and quality assessment. Different categories were identified through qualitative methodology.Results: Four main categories were identified: Different ways of communication; competence of the nurse; aggravating factors; and religious and cultural differences. Under the main categories, ten subcategories emerged: Interpreter; verbal and non-verbal communication; communication aids; experience; education; disease; work environment impact; perceived lack of time; language barriers; religious and cultural barriers.Conclusion: Through these categories, different factors concerning the communication between the nurse and patient were identified. Many nurses lacked communication training, which made the dialogue between the nurse and the patient difficult. When communication fails, both patient safety and the role of the nurse are affected negatively.
