Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

There is a national aspiration both to work with differentiated teaching based on each student’s circumstances and to teach with digital tools. The digital development in society is fast and digital competence is seen as a democratic matter. The school’s digitalization strategy states that everyone in the school must have digital competence, both teachers and students. In the classroom, the teacher meets students who all have different conditions and who must be given differentiated instruction. According to the socio-cultural principle of scaffolding, the teacher must support the student to learn in his proximal development zone with the help of mediating tools. Against the background of socio-cultural theory, this study wanted to highlight the teacher’s perspective on the practical work with digital tools in a differentiated teaching of the subject of physics. As an expected knowledge contribution, the study wished to provide a deeper understanding of how teachers, based on their own descriptions, work in practice with the use of digital tools in differentiated teaching in the physics subject. Three teachers participated in qualitative, semi-structured interviews and then the results were analysed thematically. In summary, the study shows that in the given context there is an understanding of the need for differentiated teaching and a positive attitude towards using digital tools as mediating tools in teaching given that the technology works
