AI's acceptance among auditors (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The essay examines the factors influencing the acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) within the auditing industry. The study focuses on identifying the main drivers and barriers to understand how these factors shape auditors' attitudes towards the technology. Through qualitative interviews with experienced auditors, the research explores the interaction between traditional auditing methods and new technologies.

The findings reveal that AI contributes to more efficient and accurate audits, promoting ananalytical approach when reviewing financial statements. AI tools can automate routine tasks, freeing up time for auditors to focus on more complex and value-adding activities. This not only enhances workflow but also strengthens the strategic role of auditors within companies.

The study also highlights the ethical considerations and professional skepticism towards AI in auditing. As AI takes over tasks previously handled by humans, questions about transparency and accountability arise. These issues are particularly significant as AI can influence decision-making in ways that are not always transparent.

The results indicate that auditors are cautiously optimistic about AI's potential to transform the profession. At the same time, they emphasize the importance of robust educational programs, regulations, and ethical guidelines to ensure that AI is used in a manner consistent with the core values of the profession. The study advocates for a balanced approach where technological advancements complement rather than replace auditors' expertise.
