Social media is a way for politicians to reach out directly to the public without the interference of traditional media and their choice of what to publish. And many politicians have taken advantage of this opportunity. All Swedish party leaders and spokespersons today have a public account on Instagram that updates regularly, some of them a couple of times a day. All party leaders and spokespersons also belong to parties with specific ideologies and values, that they want to reach out with. In this essay, I have through a qualitative content analysis with a focus on descriptive idea analysis examined the posts of two Swedish party leaders on Instagram over a period of one month, to see how their respective party ideologies are expressed in the texts. It is about the Christian Democrats' Ebba Busch and the Left Party's Nooshi Dadgostar. The survey shows that the ideologies are to some extent expressed in the party leaders' texts, in the choice of language and wording.
