Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The paper examines Russia's military invasion of Ukraine in 2022 through a case study of the interview between Tucker Carlson and Vladimir Putin, as well as the “Address by the President of the Russian Federation” on February 24, 2022. The study analyzes the material using three theoretical perspectives: classical realism, constructivism, and the history of ideas. Through the analysis, the paper explores political, cultural, and historical factors behind the Kremlin's actions. The results highlight the importance of power and security in classical realism, the role of identities and norms in constructivism, and the use of historical narratives to shape national identity. This multifaceted approach contributesto a broad understanding of the motives behind Russia's military intervention in Ukraine.
