Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

How people save, invest and manage risk is an interesting topic for several different groups in society. The economy affects all people, the question is whether men and women make different risky decisions or whether other factors are important. The purpose of the study is to gain in-depth knowledge of the impact of demographic factors on men's and women's savings and the factors that affect their risk appetite in connection with investments and pension savings. This was investigated using a quantitative method in the form of a questionnaire survey. When the hypotheses were tested, the results showed that one hypothesis was confirmed and two hypotheses could be partially confirmed. The conclusionis that there are differences between the genders when it comes to the propensity to take risks, but that there are more factors than gender that affect risk taking.
