From talk to transformation : A qualitative study about employee experiences regarding Hitachi Energy AB’s diversity and inclusion initiative (English)
Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
In a time when diversity and inclusion are presented as self-evident elements in corporate policies, an important question arises, how are these ambitions experienced in practice? This thesis examines one of Hitachi Energy AB’s diversity and inclusion initiatives “Women in Production” with a focus on a group whose voices are often unheard: operational employees in production. Through in-depth interviews, a complex picture emerges. While the initiative fosters safety, pride and a sense of community among participants, it also reveals a disconnect between managerial ambitions and the everyday experiences of operational employees. The conversations reflect both hope and frustration: some feel empowered and heard, while others still feel excluded. The findings suggest that genuine inclusion cannot be achieved through policies or visions alone, it must be rooted in organizational culture, in everyday dialogue, and in shared experiences at all levels of the workplace.
